i have received namecalling etc

Does it upset you to be called a liar, dick etc on an internet forum, when you know you are inncent of the accusations?

How do you not let it get to you?

well, there are two things

one - if you've been a dick, expect to be called on it

two - if it's upsetting then switch off and go do RL

three - if you've not been a dick then call the poster on it then and there, don't bleat elsewhere, or report if you consider a personal attack

YABU. You have been a dick on burqa thread and should not be shocked if some have called you that. I say this as someone who is against burqas like you are.

If you will be slinging insults around, you really should grow thicker skin.

Insults or heated discussion is one thing, but that is vile.

If someone attacks you on a thread, argue the toss on that thread.

If someone attacks you by PM, either respond or report them.

Don't start another thread for the purpose of airing a grievance - all it does is drag the same issue around the forum.

Oh iv been there and worn the t-shirt. Askamum was the bitchiest forum i have ever been on. I was called alsorts there because i did Controlled Crying - apparently i was a neglectful mum because i didnt allow my son to sleep in our bed with us Hmm

Then i was called all the names under the sun because i only breastfed for 6 weeks.

Then when i fell pregnant with my 2nd son, i had cramping and needed an early pregnancy scan at my local hospital, i was told that i had lost baby and that i had to go back for a D&C - a week later i felt flutterings so went to my chosen hospital for labour and they found a heartbeat - when i told people on the forum about it - they called me Kerry Katona (it was the time as the news broke about Kerry - it wasnt until i asked why people were calling me it that i found about what had happened to her) Then i was branded a liar and that they wont believe any bump pics, scan pics etc etc until i had had the baby and someone from the forum would see me in RL to relay back to them that i had infact had a baby. Hmm pathetic bunch of bitches.

I really don't care what people think of me in real life, let alone the internet! I wouldn't let it upset you to be honest. Generally people throwing insults are the ones who speak the most bollocks!
