i have received namecalling etc

Does it upset you to be called a liar, dick etc on an internet forum, when you know you are inncent of the accusations?

How do you not let it get to you?

it depends tbh. Why were you called a dick or a lier?

Ultimately they are just words on a screen from someone whose real name you don't even know. And while they are someone's opinion, you don't actually have to read them - you have the option to switch off the computer and walk away. I am always a bit baffled by posters who keep posting how upset they are/how someone has made them cry and yet they are still posting about their upset amid the "insults". why not just switch off and walk away.

If someone is emotionally in a bad place then tbh I| don't actually think that the internet is a good place to be posting about it, because there is no way to moderate peoples' responses, and if you're emotionally volatile, then there's a greater chance that you could take things personally. Also, the screen does not convey emotion, therefore it's much easier to take comments out of context.

Hello kungfu - blimey, you were getting a bit of a mentaloid pasting earlier weren't you? I nearly waded in and said something, and then I just thought...nah.

You're all heart Shirley! Bet you got your popcorn out and sat there going "yeah" and "take that"!

Grin

Not the arsehole. You know - the bit with the fancy name! Between the penis and the bum.

I have to say though the backlashes i got from the girls on Askamum made me stronger and stick up for myself more than i did when i was on that forum in 2007/2008.

perenium? It's been quite some time since I got any penis related action.

Anyway - no, I thought you were handling yourself VERY well in the face of some, quite frankly, mad behaviour and totally taking shit out of context and being mad.

I called someone a dick earlier. They were being a dick. In their own words, telling the truth is not harsh Grin

You are all a bunch of liar dicks.

OP don't let it upset you. Just waggle your head and screech 'Y'all don't know me!' like on Jerry Springer. Wink

The Tickly Perineum? Yes, I'd rather be that than the Twitchy Anus.

[smiles pathetically at Shirley and considers tugging forelock in a humble manner]

Is it the perineum? In a bloke? I'm sure its got some fancy name.

ShirleyKnot · 14/04/2011 16:53

That bit is universally the perenium I think. Are you thinking of the prostate which is actually UP THEIR ARSES? The dirty bastards.

Report
TandB · 14/04/2011 16:53

Just googled. It is, in fact, the perineum. I stand corrected.

Now I am off to google dragon butter. I have been told not to do it so many times and I keep forgetting to ignore that advice and do it anyway. Here I go....

Frenulum? Is that what I was thinking of?

Report
ShirleyKnot · 14/04/2011 16:54

Frenulum is the banjo string, which is up the top bit and is nice to be licked apparantly. Not that I'd know or owt.

ffs

You are also a bit of an idiot. Hiding your own thread is hilarious but might not be enough. Maybe you should put your head in the sand.

I think that namecalling is often counter-productive though.

Because once you call someone a dick/twat/ you (in the mn hq opinion) enter into the relms of personal attacks and run the risk of being deleted.

I prefer to argue the point rather than get personal because that way I don't stoop to their level, and I also can't be accused of personally attacking them.

That doesn't mean I haven't been tempted though.

Recently I was arguing on another website with someone whose views are frankly nothing short of racist and bigoted. It would have been far easier for me to call her a racist bigot, however I think much better to imply the insult by saying that people who held x and y views were racist bigots, therefore not getting personal but still making the point. Grin She took offence, of course, but given I hadn't named her personally she didn't have a leg to stand on in terms of being attacked..

I tore somebody's banjo string once with my fabulously tight chuff. It was horrific and he thought he was going to bleed to death. Never saw him again after that.

I googled dragon butter. I expected it to be worse. That's a bit ick but I really thought it was going to be something truly perverse.

And Shirley, you are welcome to borrow DP for a while. He wants to make baby number 2 and is very keen to practice. Which was nice for all of 5 minutes and is now getting a little wearing. When shall I send him over?
