To be Very Pissed Off at My Dad for Bringing a Lovely Baby Toy Around?

It's a lovely Butterfly Mobile, but I just know that my Mum put him up to it. He'd never manage to buy something that nice by himself. The other day he tried to buy me a Baby Monitor. HE KNEW that I bought one months ago, I showed him and everything.

Plus I'm 7 months pregnant already and he knows that I'm a very organised person, I never would have left it so late to buy such an essential piece of baby equipment.

Honestly, he's useless and so unsupportive! He's been on and on at me my whole pregnancy because he doesn't approve of me becoming a single mother. I just wish he'd shut up about it.

Good job you've got Ian to rely on Grin

Don't worry hel Cheesemaker, I'm sure he'll come round by the time you've gone into labour suddenly and he is the only one available to deliver it. Then he'll be the most devoted Grandfather out there.

Greenshadow · 21/12/2010 19:58

Opps, meant not hel hel

BigBoldAndBeautiful · 21/12/2010 20:00

*"ah the old Butterfly Mobile, universal mark of shame at having an unwed mother in the family.

By essential equipment, you do mean the monitor right, PLEASE tell me you're not talking about butterfly mobiles there?"*

PMSL OMGGrin Is this for real

cheesemaker · 21/12/2010 20:01

Gosh, you people are fast to reply!
See that's just it.
I've been through a very hard time in the last few years. I had a serious relationship but that went totally wrong... well, I can't really talk about it.

There have been some other men in my life, but nobody I could contemplate settling down with.

I was feeling so unfilled, but I really wanted to have a baby. I just popped down to the local sperm clinic and would you believe I got pregnant right away? I was so happy -- I am so happy. I can't wait to meet my little son or daughter? So why can't my dad just be happy for me, too?

Because you're full of shit and are not even very funny, possibly?

Just a thought :)

LaurieFairyonthetreeEatsCake · 21/12/2010 20:05

er...maybe cos you're mad as a box of frogs on crack singing "Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer" from Mad-town in Madchester.

Xmas Hmm
BigBoldAndBeautiful · 21/12/2010 20:05

Your Dad does not have to agree with how you live your life, you are an adult, if you are happy with your decision, why do you need his approval or validation?

create · 21/12/2010 20:06

Is this about something on the telly Confused

WhistlersMum · 21/12/2010 20:06

Why don't you 'phone your Dad, I'm sure you could sort this out amicably. BTW my prediction for your baby's name is Gregory John - am I close?

cory · 21/12/2010 20:06

Are you sure this is not a joke? The baby monitor as an absolutely essential piece of equipment that everybody should know has to be bought months in advance? Meant seriously?

Or is it a book and we are missing the reference?

libelulle · 21/12/2010 20:07

create - not quite, but close!

da dada dada dada da da didilideeeeeeeeee

WanderingInAWinterWonderland · 21/12/2010 20:08

"Popped down the local sperm clinic," what, as easy as popping for bread and milk? "I'll have one pregnancy please!"

Yes, your Dad sounds like a right unsupportive twunt! Xmas Hmm

blowninonabreeze · 21/12/2010 20:08

Is your name Helen?

Lulumaam · 21/12/2010 20:09

is this a piss take or about something on tv, i need to know before i compose a reply, as this sort of thing makes me unreasonably furious, when it turns out to be an in joke, skit etc

BigBoldAndBeautiful · 21/12/2010 20:09

Some MN threads are bizarre Confused

cheesemaker · 21/12/2010 20:09

I don't see why I should phone my dad. He knows he's wrong. He should phone me and grovel apologise.

And then my Mum sent my brother around here to find out if I was going to go around there on Christmas Eve. At least my Mum means well, but she really needs to stop interfering, too.

IAmReallyFabNow · 21/12/2010 20:12

Confused.

If this is meant to be funny, it isn't.

If it is real, you come across as very confused and rude.
