nasty session of taking the p*ss

I don't like his humour.

NorhamGardens · 23/11/2010 08:05

So many otherwise bright and intelligent people I know seem to find his constant sending up of this character so funny. I was beginning to think I was the only one how couldn't see anything amusing about it at all.

Surely it's partly all staged?

Tee2072 · 23/11/2010 08:06

I have never thought he was funny.

LongtimeinBrussels · 23/11/2010 08:08

He came to Brussels in his youth and my sister-in-law spent some time with him at a party. He was apparently an arrogant so and so then...

brimfull · 23/11/2010 08:09

The series isn't funny imo but it's not nasty.
Too staged.

Callisto · 23/11/2010 08:09

I think he is awful - I have never understood why he is meant to be funny. He is like a playground bully in some ways.

NorhamGardens · 23/11/2010 08:11

I liked him in the Office, but then again this was amusing as I'd worked with a 'David Brent' (am sure many of us have) & the painful similarities made me chuckle.

goodtimesarecoming · 23/11/2010 08:11

Sorry, but I can't see why thats nasty, thats the whole concept of Karl Pilkington!

Littlepurpleprincess · 23/11/2010 08:12

I never thought he was funny either. I liked an idiot abroad but it was Karl that made it, the bits with Ricky weren't funny. His humour is childish and self-absorbed.

I also thought that Karl was in the joke in that clip though. It's staged, but it is Karl making the jokes, not Ricky.

Nancy66 · 23/11/2010 08:16

it's nasty at all - not in the least.

DuelingFanjo · 23/11/2010 08:20

Karl Pilkington is in on the joke so how is it nasty?

Sibble · 23/11/2010 08:21

Agree can't stand Ricky Gervais, dh liked him - so I guess that old saying each to their own - but he's not allowed to watch him in our house Grin

I listened to that yesterday, it wasn't nasty in the slightest

lighten up people

Vallhala · 23/11/2010 08:33

How the feck did Gervais ever get to have his rather unattractive face onscreen in the first place?

Not funny, not clever, not nice.

Nancy66 · 23/11/2010 08:37

The Office and Extras are brilliant shows.

Are the people who don't like him the sort of people that like things like 'allo 'allo, the Brittas Empire and My Family?

always wondered who they were....

"Are the people who don't like him the sort of people that like things like 'allo 'allo, the Brittas Empire and My Family?"

Hmm

What a weird thing to say.

Nancy66 · 23/11/2010 08:45

yes, it's all for you Stewie - I seek you out.

BendyBob · 23/11/2010 08:46

Confused How is this nasty? I thought it was quite funny. Gervais works with KP. He's in on it.

lottiejenkins · 23/11/2010 08:50

I cant stand RG. Im glad his role in Night at The Museuem 2 was smaller than the first!!! Didnt have to see his ugly mug on the screen. He is far too full of his own self importance!!!

Anniegetyourgun · 23/11/2010 08:52

I started watching that out of curiosity, but I had to turn it off because it made my teeth itch. It was very unpleasant and so was he. Quite often when someone plays a nasty character on-screen you find they're quite nice in RL, but I have yet to find any virtues at all in Mr Gervaise.

Still, I hear he speaks very well of me Grin
