ricky gervais and karl pilkington are friends who have worked together. don't understand why anyone would think it's nasty.

i find the karl pilkington stuff tedious but the office and extras was genius so i forgive him

I think his writing with Merchant is excellent but his standup comedy and personality grate

Not remotely nasty???? I don't understand how you can think this is nasty towards Karl unless you really have never seen Ricky and Karl together. They're bessie mates in real life and all their comedy together is based on Karl's odd observations of the world and Ricky laughing at him.

I actually love Ricky but he is beyond arrogant it's true, doesn't bother me though, I don't need to like him as a person, but I think he's a genius of a comedian.

I also love the Office and Extras, but loathe the stand up AND when he puts himself as the romantic lead in Hollywood movies. Just doesn't work.

I don't live in the Uk anymore, so I'm not really up to date with RG's recent stuff, but The Office and Extras are great, great, great.

I couldn't get whatever the OP posted to download. If it was the thing from radio 5 yesterday, I don't think it was nasty. Karl Pilkington is a genius, he is as has been previously posted mates with RG and SM so would have been in on the joke.
I haven't seen Mr P's series, but would like to.
I do think Ricky Gervais is funny, DD adored him in the film he did where he could see dead people, I preferred Steven Marchant in the tooth fairy [high brow DVD hiring in this house]

RG was funny in Ghost Town, but completely unbelievable in a romantic role.
SM is much funnier.
As for the clip, it was benign.

Smiling I don't think it was banter. I think the bloke was totally pissed off. David Brent was Ricky Gervais not a charcter. I think he is a bully and some people haven't figured out yet that's its not an act! Pub Landlord you know is a piss take. Ricky is just a prat.

I don't like RG at all. Don't think he is funny. However I loved An Idiot Abroad, and it was purely down to Karl Pilkington and his pearls of wisdom like "the Amazon is no different from the Thames" and other 'observations' he made. Loved it!

KP was supposed to be pissed off and RG was supposed to be taking the piss. It's the act. Neither was themselves. If you don't like the act fair enough but it was staged.

I thought I was the only person alive who was of the opinion that RG is a big horrible toady person.
Now I see I am not alone.
The best thing he has done was in Stardust when MP changed his voice and then the Prince stabbed him!!!
