She came home from first day in Y1 at (Greater London) school yesterday and said "Teacher arksed me"...

ShockShock

My inner pedant is appalled.

DH's reaction is to want us to move "back" to his neck of the woods so she grows up speaking proper, like. Is he over-reacting? Wink

Short walk from Shirley. It's called something else now after that girl was murdered there - what is it?

There used to be that big white church as well on the High Street with all the steps leading up to it. It was knocked down years ago - strangely I remember the Echo newspaper vendor who kept his dog in a pram had his stall outside it.

Random thoughts! Smile

Bumperlicious · 10/09/2010 14:02

My (Surrey) brother also says 'is it?' in a completely grammatically inappropriate sense e.g. 'I'm going into town today' 'Is it?' WTF???

I have just been informed by DD that the girl character in Toy Story isn't Molly 'it's Marrrlly' Hmm

sharbie · 10/09/2010 14:05

Ah. DH's sis is 41 (nearly 42) and she's a G.

She and her younger brother moved away when their mum died when she was 8 and went to live on the IoW with their nan for a year til her dad got things sorted out (DH was left behind with him, for reasons best known to themselves...)

Which end of Surrey does your brother live in??, because I am willing to bet it is not the leafy end.

And if it is,Shock I shall invite the neighbours around for G&T's this evening and when they are all well oiled, I shall organise a lynch party. Grin

back in the early days of the Iraq conflict, a town under attack was described as being like Southampton, quoth one squaddy -

'It's a not that much like Southampton - we're being shot at! It's more like Portsmouth.'

sharbie · 10/09/2010 14:31
