Do you want to spend a day at Dyson HQ learning about allergies (and get a free Dyson Allergy vacuum cleaner?)

Hi there

Dyson want to invite five Mumsnetters who have children who suffer from asthma and/or dust allergies to visit their HQ in Wiltshire on Tuesday 9th September. During the course of the day the Dyson microbiologists will examine a sample of your dust to let you know what's lurking in your carpets and offer advice and tips on how to keep allergens at bay. Dyson will cover any transport costs and give you a Dyson Allergy vacuum cleaner for your troubles

All Dyson ask in return is that you come back and tell everyone else on Mumsnet all about your new-found dust busting tips later in September.

If your family fit the allergy bill, you know you're free on the 9th and fancy a day out and a new Dyson - you can sign up here

Best

Mine has also broken - completely useless - when the developing a hard-wearing dyson focus group comes up give us a shout.

elesbells · 03/09/2008 17:40

I received mine today too

Ive used it in dd's room already....

didn't realise how much dust there was

desperatehousewifetoo · 03/09/2008 18:11

Have used mine downstairs. Will tackle ds' room tomorrow when he has started school and I can tidy the floor without complaints!

I had one before that broke too. We'll see if this lasts any longer. To be fair, I've also had other makes that have broken.

callmeovercautious · 03/09/2008 21:42

Well there was a mix up so mine is not here yet

However to you "olde dyson slayers" - I have a DC02 bought in 2007 when DH and I bought our first house. It is still going strong thank you very much - I take care of her and she appreciates it She is very excited to hear she is having a baby sister soon

Sarah emailed to say my tickets are in the post expected Friday or Monday at the latest. So that should help on the cost front.

desperatehousewifetoo · 05/09/2008 14:03

My train tickets have just arrived!

With a letter saying they want the 'dirt' from our dysons! How rude to suggest I have any dirt. Hee hee, think they must have secretly visited my home.

Callmeovercautious - has your dyson arrived or do you need to borrow some dirt?

elesbells · 05/09/2008 17:20

Pmsl @ borrowing dirt - Ive plenty going spare if anyone needs it

My tickets arrived too - did we agree on a time and place for us to meet?

desperatehousewifetoo · 05/09/2008 20:34

I think meeting at the paddington bear is a good idea.

What time is everyone hoping to arrive? Is 8.45 too late to meet? I'm hoping to be there earlier if poss.

Do we all have seats together? My seats are coach b, seat 37a.

callmeovercautious · 05/09/2008 23:12

No tickets yet but the delivery guy came and went whilst I nipped out to pick up DDs Birthday cake

DH will be driving 20 miles tomorrow to collect it, especially if I have to provide dirt

I have lots to spare so no need to lend me any thanks I had 6 2 years olds in my house today partying like mad toddlers do with all sorts of stuff ground into the carpet. That will make for interesting anaysis

desperatehousewifetoo · 06/09/2008 15:47

Ooh, your dirt sounds tasty!

Have ds sitting on one side of me with earache (hope he's better by tuesday) and dd on other side snoring (she was up at 5.15am).

Can't seem to get to my pile of ironing..shame

callmeovercautious · 06/09/2008 21:48

So what is this ironing thing you talk of? I have heard about it from my MIl often but never quite got the hang of it

Still no Dyson. I forgot we had another Party today. He will be collecting it in his Lunch break Monday!

So seriously - what do you all think of them so far? I love my DC02, it is knackered but I am kind of attached as it is so easy to use. I am geting a DC23.

desperatehousewifetoo · 06/09/2008 22:06

Ds likes dyson as it has a bit on it he can use as a gun

Didn't get any ironing done as snoring dd woke up with raging temp and was then sick!

So I had 2 ill dcs to look after. Both demanding cuddles and dh was hour and half late home from watching footie. Grrr!

I'm planning on re-hoovering my bedroom tomorrow (sick children allowing!) to see what was left by my old, cheap hoover on friday. Thought it would be a good test.

callmeovercautious · 06/09/2008 22:14

I hope they are feeling better by Tuesday - it really would be good to meet you

desperatehousewifetoo · 06/09/2008 22:26

They are very rarely ill so I would be very surprised if they are still poorly.

Ds just has a nasty cold but not sure what is up with dd. Apparently, she didn't eat much breakfast and said she didn't feel well this am - dh just didn't mention that to me until dd proudly announced to him that she had been sick when he walked through the door this evening! lol.

I'd be gutted if I couldn't make it. Am really looking forward to meeting you all too. Keeping everything crossed!

GotNoDyson · 09/09/2008 19:41

TheOldestCatHairsInTheCyclone · 09/09/2008 20:29

Hallo GotNoDyson (still not arrived then?) and, of course, George! Been out beating carpets?

It was lovely to meet you all and experience the good folk of Dyson. I want to work there and dry my hands in an Airwave every day!

TheOldestCatHairsInTheCyclone · 09/09/2008 20:30

Never mind the length of their flexes, they were all lovely!

I keep eyeing my dustmite-ridden flooring warily now..

GotNoDyson · 09/09/2008 20:32

PMSL! EXCELLENT name change

No, no dyson. Yet.....

TheOldestCatHairsInTheCyclone · 09/09/2008 20:34

Hope it arrives soon!

GotNoDyson · 09/09/2008 20:46

So do I! I have all the attachments and I cant play with them!

callmemitey · 09/09/2008 22:18

guess who I am?

So do you think Dyson dave will find us? Hope you all got home OK, I got in at 7.30, had to buy rice crispies on the way home and then DD was so excited to see me we had nearly an hour of waffle where she told me her day - very busy day for her apparently

DH is very pleased with the accesories, I now have to say lots of nice thing about Dyson to see if he can have the car pack as well

I am looking forward to trying out my intensive vacuuming techniques, hallway first

Morning all.

Glad DD was so pleased to see you, callme; sorry to hear your return journey was a pain, Podmog. Great to meet you too; was such a fun day.

I'm working at home today, but in my coffee breaks have hoovered...sorry VACUMMED the mattresses and cleaned DD's room, and put on the bedding at 60 degrees to boil our little mitey mates.

Wonder if VVVqv has got her dyson yet!
