Just that really. Trying to stop drinking during the week as the summer comes to a close but......just what do I have in the evening to look forward to? I HATE baths btw. Hit me with some of your best suggestions to break this cycle please

I enjoy apple & elderflower pressé (other flavours available!). I drink it out of a wine glass, read my book and light a candle. Highly recommend.

myweightisanightmare · 27/08/2025 17:57

Sparkling water. It helped me enormously with the same problem.

Musicaltheatremum · 27/08/2025 18:26

Freixenet alcohol free prosecco I find nicer than nosecco. It's slightly drier.

Apple juice with sparking water in a wine glass.

I like elderflower cordial, especially in the Summer.

ScreamingBeans · 27/08/2025 18:56

Summer - any kind of yellow or pink lemonade as near to limonata as you can get
Winter - Rochester Ginger. Holland and Barrett stock it.

pollymere · 27/08/2025 20:54

I drink Frixnet at parties. Or Muguigans Zero. There are plenty of alcohol free choices if you want a glass in your hand.

Thenakedwineglass · 27/08/2025 21:46

tonic with a nice cordial like raspberry and peach or mint and lime

fevertree blood orange tonic - tastes like Aperol in my head!

I’ve found I’m more attentive with new series so that’s been an added bonus and also going for an evening walk helps to break the routine / association with sitting down with a drink plus helps with extra steps and feeling more relaxed

no one ever regrets not drinking the night before !

Collagen hot chocolate! Ancient and Braves one is the really thick, dark hot chocolate. Feels decadent, don’t need a huge mug of it (unless you want one!) and it has benefit for skin and hair.

MaggieBsBoat · 27/08/2025 21:49

Following with interest. When I had my last anorexia relapse I used to have a low cal hot chocolate in bed so maybe I’ll try that!

A Nosecco (the alcohol free Prosecco)

start watching a series and only watch 1 episode per night

a hot chocolate

buy some very expensive or delicious chocolates you wouldn’t normally and have 2/3 a night

what was a treat to you before you were old enough to drink?

I had a god awful headache the next day from that 😂. It does taste nice though.

Fentimans do some lovely sparkling drinks.

I like lime juice in the ginger beer. Love rose lemonade, elderflower.

Looking this up straight away!!! Tonight it's wasabi peas and a pint of room temp water....not very exciting I know but I had a massive icecream after dinner as a treat. Don't want to lose the run of myself!!

I stopped drinking about two years ago and things I have liked are:

Nozecco
Elderflower cordial and fizzy water
Fizzy CBD drinks like Trip,
Motherroot Ginger switchel with soda - also really really like the Marmalade switchel when it’s available. I recently tried the rhubarb but I didn’t like that as much.
Recently I tried Guinness Zero which was very nice.

Keep up the good work!

Do you like gin OP? I've switched to Tanqueray 0.0 and tonight and I really enjoy it. It's not cheap but a little cheaper than alcoholic gin and it's really lovely.

FollowSpot · 27/08/2025 22:09

Grapes to pick at
Sweet’n’salty popcorn
Ginger beer
Cranberry juice
Twiglets

pastabest · 27/08/2025 22:12

Marks and spencers have some really nice 'low alcohol' drinks (0.2 - 0.5 units) which really hit the spot for me. I like the mojito and the low alcohol Czech lager, and an aperol type one

I think im going to give something like that a try for the weekend maybe. Thanks for the advice!

Do you like doing jigsaws? I’ve recently remembered how much I enjoy doing them and it’s great to settle down and do a bit of a jigsaw each night as we head into autumn.

No3392 · 27/08/2025 22:26

I am currently drinking a cucumber and mint trip, with blueberries, cucumber and a mint sprig in a cocktail glass.
I don't like the yellow one, but all the others are nice. They are often discounted on Amazon.

tostaky · 27/08/2025 22:28

Kombucha for me
or herbal tea
or just plain cool water with an ice cube

LillyPJ · 27/08/2025 22:39

If you're having a glass of something, make it look fancy with a slice of frozen orange or lime, or a sprig of mint or slice of cucumber. Ice is good too - and buy the big ice chunks as they last much longer than normal size cubes. (I wouldn't normally buy ice seeing as I can make cubes for nothing, but a bag of the big ones are only about £1 and make the drink colder and feel more special.) Flavoured tonic waters are good (Fevertree have plenty) and there are some nice alcohol free spritzes too.

CuddlesKovinsky · 27/08/2025 22:48

Crodino is nice with a slice of orange. 🍊🙂

DramaLlamacchiato · 27/08/2025 22:50

I’m 4 years sober but when I was in the early days I liked an AF fruit cider or beer. Rarely bother now, but they were good for back then

pollymere · 27/08/2025 23:14

Ooh... I love Tanqueray Sevilla with diet lemonade or Zero Sprite/7up. And it contains ZERO calories/sugar/carbs.

LillyPJ · 28/08/2025 06:29

Martini Vibrante or Martini Florearle (spellings might be a bit off!) are amazing. It's almost hard to tell they're not alcoholic. I have it with tonic and ice.

bloominoreilly · 28/08/2025 06:34

I love kombucha but just to warn, it's made from tea (the 'cha' of kombucha) so not necessarily a good bedtime drink. I find 0% beer a bit boring but like it in a shandy
