Alcohol free in 23

Hello!

This is the thread for doing a whole year alcohol free beginning tomorrow (although some have started a bit early).

This isn't a moderation thread, so it isn't for cutting down. It's absolutely no alcohol for the whole of 2023.

That said, slip ups happen and I will not be throwing anyone off the thread if they have a blip, (or several blips), but please don't post if you're planning to have a few drinks here and there, as it may affect people who are struggling to remain AF but want to.

Yup still going strong, DH as well although I think that's also spurred on by the marathon (he's running next weekend). But he was very proud of beating his longest streak of 104 days ☺️

I have a hen weekend this weekend and am determined to stay sober, no matter what the provocation!!

I've totally solved this. Take af wine and then forget about being af. It feels amazing to wake up all partied out and stone cold sobre.

It’s in Forrin, so I don’t know if they’ll have AF wine, but I am happy with a coke. It’s more that I have never done a sober holiday before. It feels totally new.

I live in Forrin😁and there's not much in the way of AF wine here , but most places have AF beers at least. I've ordered a good few bottles of AF wine online but have only drunk 1 so far.
I do like an AF beer at the end of a busy day though.

Still going strong here. No cravings either at the moment. Weird, but good. 😁

I like having the glamour of the wine glass. Just put your coke in that

I'm visiting my Dad, and had a few glasses of AF wine last night to keep him company as he was having a few glasses of normal wine. When I got up this morning, there was about a third left in my glass from last night (abandoned on the kitchen counter) and I had that visceral twist in my stomach of shame and disgust when I saw it. Thank goodness it was only AF! 😅

Hello not been on here for ages but still going and now on day 134. Went out at the weekend with DH for my birthday. Had a top night and no alcohol. Came to work this morning and a colleague has gifted me a bottle of Prosecco lol

So I am back from the hen do. It was a lot more stressful than I had anticipated, mainly because of the inherent difficulties in managing ten people’s requirements, the amount of waiting around while Sarah looks at all the shit in yet another identical tourist shop etc.

On the alcohol front, I did very well. I had a tiny shot one night. They were delivered to the table for free after our meal, and I took one. I also had an Irish coffee after another meal a different night.

I am trying not to beat myself up over it. It’s still an amazing achievement when you consider everyone else was drinking morning noon and night. I survived.

Thing is, you don't at all need to beat yourself up. It was your rule. You can change it whenever you want.

How is everyone else doing? I’m trying to lose weight now, especially after seeing lots of photos of myself on the hen weekend.

Back again...day 3 again.

Life has settled down a bit and I'm feeling stronger. Haven't been going too mad but really feel strongly about stopping forever as really notice the benefits when I stop for more than a couple of weeks!
