Hi there ! I hope this is the right place to post, I drink too much wine ! I want to drink only in the week and then have a glass or two over the weekend (if I fancy it). I have a baby and a toddler so I really need the energy . Just looking for some support and if anyone wants to join me?
We can support eachother, my problem is , I look forward to it and that thought helps get me through the day for once I finally get them to bed. I love them so much and want to be around for a long long time, drinking everyday just isn't acceptable. I havnt admitted this before so please be kind.
Who wants to join?

I'll join! I definitely started too much during lockdown and have carried it on. I am overweight, permanently knackered and look crap so I definitely need to cut the booze.
I joined a gym today with DH and have committed to go at least three times a week. Hopefully that will give me an incentive not to pour myself a great big glass of wine every night!

chorusline79 · 05/02/2022 19:31

Hi @MisiSam I'll join you.
I do love a glass of wine or G & T but need to keep it to weekends.
I only managed til weds this week before I cracked! Like you, I look forward to it too when the kids are in bed. Trouble is it really impacts my quality of sleep. I'd like to have a drink or 2 on a weekend for my health

Allsorts1 · 05/02/2022 19:34

I’d love to join! I’ve stocked up on lovely flavoured sparking waters and have purchased Seedlip so that I can make us a “special” drink that’s no alcoholic. I find the fizz and putting it into a nice G&T glass with some lemon is 80% of the fun!

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 05/02/2022 19:36

yep. I am in!!

exactly what I am doing. christmas is just so wine sodden that I need a break!!

Not drinking in the week and am having a glass of red now but want it to be a treat not a habit...

TripleTipplePipple · 05/02/2022 19:43

I'll join you. I fell off dry january on 11 Jan and decided I'd only drink Fri/Sat night but have failed and drunk most nights. I dont know why....I feel so much better when I dont drink. I dont know why i do it to myself.

GingerHippo · 05/02/2022 19:59

Can I join!! I feel so much better long term if I don't drink but crave that lovely feeling that a strong g&t gives...until I'm awake at 3am with sweats and palpitations...!!

feckingknackered · 05/02/2022 20:08

Yes I'll join! I really need too, I have a toddler and am working full time. I love a wine in the evening but it's got to the point where I'm tired the next day and I look awful, I have really bad eye bags.
I'll start Monday Smile

MisiSam · 05/02/2022 20:29

Oh wow! I didn't expect so many lovely replies. Yes !! It will be so nice to have people that understand. I'm desperate just to be drink free in the week, also I am over weight and i know full well if I cut down the wine then I will lose weight!!!

Completely agree, it makes sleep so much worse, I don't sleep well anyway with a 2 year old and a 9 month old!!

Count me in! I started this week and didn't drink Mon, Tues or Thurs. I drank a little on Wed as I was out so I think my rule is going to be no booze on weekdays unless I'm out of the house for a special event.

Even if it's not perfect, 3-4 days alcohol free each week will be big progress for me!

MisiSam · 05/02/2022 20:41

@belimoo completely agree, this thread is support for whatever work for you, i just want somewhere to be honest and ask for help, I don't feel like I can do that in real life

Making a roast tomorrow and will have a glass of red and then will check back on Monday so we can all get through the week together!

Yip, need to start on Monday. I feel quite down atm so am just accepting that it will be pretty shit & will need to go to bed early to stop me being tempted & then will hopefully get up early to for a walk in the mornings which will oils make me feel better, (I'm out of the habit & need to get back into it)

TripleTipplePipple · 05/02/2022 20:47

I'm cooking a turkey that we froze at christmas tomorrow and we are drinking the all the wine tonight. I need to keep to friday and saturday nights I think.. .. it should be easy. Why is it so hard?

feckingknackered · 05/02/2022 20:48

@MisiSam I always have red wine with a roast on Sundays, that's why I said Monday too.

MsRosewater · 05/02/2022 20:50

I'm in! Especially having spectacularly failed dry January. I totally lack self-discipline and find a million reasons I deserve wine during the week

peanutbutterandbananas · 05/02/2022 21:05

Me too please! This is just what I've been thinking, that for health and better sleep/weight/energy I need to keep the drinking to only weekends... as someone else said, why is it so hard?! I have fallen into the habit of seeing it as my reward I think, and. Time of the day when I finally sit down and get to relax

liveforsummer · 06/02/2022 07:52

I'm here for this too - starts tomorrow. Going to buy some fancy cordial and sparkling water and some interesting tonics

MisiSam · 06/02/2022 13:11

Felt so Ill this morning because baby was up most of the night! I wouldn't have felt so bad if it wasn't for the wine. Whhhhhy!! Feeling fine now though, after a nap. Good luck to all those starting today and tomorrow ☺️

I want to stop drinking in the week as well, my wine intake is getting ridiculous. I’ve fell back in to the habit of getting to Wednesday/Thursday and opening the wine! I’d like to limit myself to some gin & slimline tonics on a Friday, then save the wine for a treat on Saturday, and then that’s it, no Sunday drinking either!
I did the above a few years ago when I was trying to lose a lot of weight and it really helped, so that’s what I want to get back to.

theremustonlybeone · 06/02/2022 13:42

I am in too...my daily wine consumption was escalating and this week I have stopped drinking during the week. I actually found it hard and had to really distract myself and focussed on exercise and going to bed early

MisiSam · 06/02/2022 14:36

Loving the fact we can all be honest here with no judgement too, I think this will really help !

I dont drink in the week but want to cut back to only One night at the weekends. Can i join. I drank both friday and saturday this week and just feel terrible today. I work all week waiting for the weekend then ruin the weekend by being drunk or hungover

Spongebobsmartypants · 06/02/2022 14:44

My family are sick of me having a drink on a saturday and falling asleep on the sofa
