Hi there ! I hope this is the right place to post, I drink too much wine ! I want to drink only in the week and then have a glass or two over the weekend (if I fancy it). I have a baby and a toddler so I really need the energy . Just looking for some support and if anyone wants to join me?
We can support eachother, my problem is , I look forward to it and that thought helps get me through the day for once I finally get them to bed. I love them so much and want to be around for a long long time, drinking everyday just isn't acceptable. I havnt admitted this before so please be kind.
Who wants to join?

I’m in!

I don’t drink massive amounts but need more days without.

Sexnotgender · 07/02/2022 20:37

Also got a 3 year old and a 10 month old. They’re tiring!

Blondefancy · 07/02/2022 20:54

Welcome @Sexnotgender!
Yes @PamelaDoov I normally like having a glass whilst cooking dinner, along with something to watch/listen to! I swapped it for some coffee today! Well done for not giving in! Grin

GingerHippo · 08/02/2022 07:35

Day one in the bag! Fancied a g&t while making dinner but didn't cave 🎉🎉🎉

TripleTipplePipple · 08/02/2022 08:16

Day 1 down. So glad I didnt drink either as DD has been up a lot in the night the last two nights. I'd be on my knees if wine was involved

alwaysaworrier · 08/02/2022 08:34

Going to my first Slimming World tonight, so that should really help to cut my weekly drinking and lose the 2 stones i piled on with wine.

HainaultViaNewburyPark · 08/02/2022 08:52

Why is it that I feel even more in need of coffee after a night where I didn’t have any alcohol?

Lemonweightloss · 08/02/2022 09:00

For all those who like a drink when cooking, I hear you ! It's a difficult one. I've poured af drinks, a becks blue or if I'm feeling ultra virtuous, a glass of sparkling water and lemon. It helps to plan. I think if you have it in, you'll be tempted. I've actually poured half a bottle down the sink before now as I knew if I drank it, I'd want more !

Blondefancy · 08/02/2022 16:23

This evening is going to be hard! I normally have a glass on the 3rd day but going to stay strong Confused dd’s after school class was cancelled so it’s a change of routine that would normally cause me to unwind with something…but going to have something else instead! Hopefully I’ll make it through dinner time! How’s everyone else doing? Smile

SergeiL · 08/02/2022 17:22

Good on you @Blondefancy
My DH just said he was going round the shop and I managed to stop myself from asking him to get wine. Staying strong so far.

Smallkeys · 08/02/2022 18:06

I have been trying to reframe it. I have a herbal tea the sleep one from Morrison’s own brand and tell myself that this is more relaxing and better than a glass of wine. This is definitely true but I don’t look forward to it as much as a glass of 2 of vino I just know I feel crappy with the booze. I’ve gotten a bit used to it now :-)

MisiSam · 08/02/2022 19:12

Well done guys, sorry I've been quiet today I have a 9 month old and a 2 year old so have been a bit frazzled!! I'm finding this hard not gonna lie. I really hope I lose some weight, I'm going for a weekend away for my birthday next month and really want to have lost a bit by then!

Doing well today, just did 1/2 an hour of yoga. Both children are asleep and I’m going to go make a cup of tea in a bit.

Sexnotgender · 08/02/2022 19:18

Also trying to lose weight! I’m 40 in April and want to lose a stone…

minipie · 08/02/2022 19:20

Yup I don’t drink in the week unless I am going out (rare).

Began when my DC were small and never slept through, it was so much worse getting up in the night after a glass or two.

Now it’s a habit and one I’m quite pleased about. Silver linings eh Grin

Blondefancy · 08/02/2022 19:33

Still going strong! I find that once it gets past a certain time in the evenings I don’t think about it anyway Hmm it’s all about building up that routine! Just need to programme myself into not expecting anything during the week! Well done everyone!! Grin

Blondefancy · 08/02/2022 19:34

@minipie the greatest silver lining!! You must feel great Grin

PamelaDoov · 08/02/2022 19:37

I had an emotional day today (I won’t go into it) and then DS was being a pain at home this evening so I really really could’ve downed a big drink 😂 but I haven’t and won’t

Well done.
Lemonweightloss · 08/02/2022 20:17

@PamelaDoov, yes, well done. That took a lot of willpower. You'll be grateful tomorrow too that you didn't cave. Hope tomorrow is a better day !
@Blondefancy, I find this. I can really crave it, although I've come to realise it's more of a 'thought' so I bat it away, do something else and the craving/ thought does go away ( I hope that made sense. I'm tired 😫). Anyway, keep going - youve got this.
@SergeiL, well done. That's quite hard to do I think. 👏 👏

Lemonweightloss · 08/02/2022 20:20

@MisiSam, you can do it. I know it's not easy but it's definitely best to do one day st a time. It can't be easy with 2 little ones so hat's off to you. Do you have a plan for losing weight ?

SergeiL · 08/02/2022 20:32

Well done everyone!

SergeiL · 08/02/2022 20:34

I am also seriously trying to lose weight. My treats of an evening are lighting a candle and an Ovaltine light with maybe one square of dark chocolate. Rock and roll!

HainaultViaNewburyPark · 08/02/2022 20:44

I had tonic water with ice and lemon this evening. I presume that’s still allowed? (There was definitely no alcohol in it).

I think I might need a non-alcoholic red wine substitute. Does anyone have any going suggestions?

SergeiL · 08/02/2022 20:47

Definitely a ‘nice’ drink is allowed, as I think the pouring something into a nice glass to have with dinner is a bit of a ritual.

I am sad to say though that I have never found a decent wine substitute. Hence I stick with fake gins.
