Have you guys made up yet or are things still difficult @MyGhastIsFlabbered?

CandyLeBonBon · 15/01/2021 16:48

I have to admit my moods, whilst often fluctuating, are easier to manage without the booze. I am diagnosed with EUPD and I have to work really hard at emotional regulation and that's definitely easier without booze.

Haggisfish · 15/01/2021 17:13

Well done everyone on getting this far. I’m reading your posts and nodding along with them! I’m doing well-haven’t had huge cravings until now. I’m feeling it tonight. I’ve had a good week and just fancy a glass while making dinner. I won’t though.it is a habit I need to break, that’s all....Wink

showmethegin · 15/01/2021 17:55

This is the danger time for me but just found nosecco and tonic water (thanks to PPs!) on Deliveroo. Nice bath with "Prosecco" might hit the spot!

Rolo1324 · 15/01/2021 18:06

My Friday night weakness is here I deserve this I've earned this why shouldn't I ........ broke this time last week so I'm going to have a bath got a zoom call at 7.30 and going to have a herbal tea and that should be witching hour over....

Hohofortherobbers · 15/01/2021 18:10

Huge Friday cravings, long day at work, then home school the dc, having an unexpected lovely dinner, my dh has had an amazing hamper delivered which is dinner for 2 and red wine would totally top this off. But I am chugging the becks blue and gritting my teeth. I should be delighted but I just feel somethings missing

HoxtonBonnet · 15/01/2021 18:37

Hello! I posted on the last thread at the beginning but haven't updated for a while. I have been feeling very down and demotivated - still dry but it hasn't been much fun. This has made me realise how much I use alcohol to prop my mood up. DH, is also doing DJ and is loving the challenge and feeling great. Ironically, he drinks so much more than me usually.

I have been sleeping pretty well and feel healthy - lots more energy during the day.

SantaMonicaPier · 15/01/2021 18:46

Halfway mark! I'll be trying Nosecco with tonic tonight I think. Also enjoying a fab AF gin from Ocado. All going well so far, hope all are OK.

mrsnibblesisahero · 15/01/2021 18:48

Still going with work and have noted that would normally be two (or really two and a half) large glasses down by now. Instead have my favourite Garden Seedlip, Fevertree Mediterranean Tonic and cucumber! Am going to make it to end of day 14 despite the work stress if it kills me.

MrsMcBoatface · 15/01/2021 20:51

I'll raise a nice cup of tea to the halfway mark! I feel so pleased that I've come this far. And I plan to see it through to the second half. I'm so glad of the company, I think I would have wavered tonight if I hadn't thought of coming back onto this thread. Well done to all.. celebrate the fantastic feeling of waking up clear-headed!

ApolloandDaphne · 15/01/2021 20:59

DH and I decided after we had eaten to go out with the dog and walk one of his running routes. 5 miles later we are back. I have had a shower and have got a cup of peppermint tea. What a massive change from our usual Friday night of dinner with several bottles of wine. I am glowing - literally!

Gottaloveacardie · 15/01/2021 21:07

Still going here aswell, day 15. I am pleased with myself and starting to believe I might finish it. I enjoy updating the app every day, it's like a little pat on the back, but the hardest thing is just the evenings seem very dull. I realise wine was giving me something to look forward to in the evening.

I live alone in a flat when 5pm comes and I log off the evening is very dark, boring and long Sad But I'm bloody minded and will see dry january through to the end even if I'm pulling my hair out by the end of it
PeacheyPeach · 15/01/2021 21:57

Hi all xx day 15 wow we are into our 3rd week already 😉
Feeling good tonight. It's Friday and I'm not home schooling for two whole days!!
My sis in law sent me pics of her before drinking prosecco and it didn't even bother me! It didn't make me want to open my own bottle, I'm just having a diet coke and DH is cooking me a lovely supper x

iwantavuvezela · 15/01/2021 22:05

Half way mark ...... whoop whoop - it’s crazy when I read the calories and units not drunk!

No idea how I will re-introduce wine in February - but I’m glad I a, doing this

Humphriescushion · 16/01/2021 06:56

Got through friday evening and well done everyone - half way feels good and has gone quite quickly really. I too am quite bloody minded @ corona and hate to give up on something is useful in this scenario.
Skin feels lovely ( more to do with new regime and cleanser) but putting i5 down to lack of alcohol.
Hope everyone doing ok?

SantaMonicaPier · 16/01/2021 07:43

My skin is great too! I can't understand it as didn't consider myself a massive drinker before but I've compared a number of before and after photos and on every single one my face is dewy and smooth now whereas before it looks dry and kind of sallow and tense around my eyes. What's that all about??

MsConstrue · 16/01/2021 07:51

hi all, I've just seen this thread and thought I'd say hello!

I'm doing dry Jan too - started on 4 Jan (so will go onto 4 Feb). Not seeing any real benefits yet, but am having really vivid dreams every night. Is that a thing?!

one of the reasons I'm doing this is to improve my sleep, and I'm no longer waking up at 4am which is great.

Also no weigh loss. No glowing skin. yet. maybe.

MsConstrue · 16/01/2021 07:55

oh and one other question - I love having a single malt before bed. Is there any nice AF whisky alternative?

SantaMonicaPier · 16/01/2021 08:05

Welcome to the thread! I have been having mad dreams too, especially the first week. Afraid I'm not a whisky drinker but I have been drinking a good AF gin!

MsConstrue · 16/01/2021 08:09

ooh which one is that? I had some last night as I was on a zoom call with a friend. I like gin too!

SantaMonicaPier · 16/01/2021 08:12

It's gin botanicals hibiscus and rose from Ocado, it was on offer when I got it last week. Really great reviews compared to the other ones I looked at and I think it's fab.

SantaMonicaPier · 16/01/2021 08:16

Thanks again to whoever suggested Nosecco mixed with tonic! I enjoyed several glasses last night. The tonic absolutely did the trick in reducing the sweetness.

goldpendant · 16/01/2021 08:22

Morning all! Well done to everyone who stayed strong last night!

I didn't! Caved and had one teeny glass of red, DH finished the bottle (horrible day at work for him).

I have a headache this morning, my mouth feels dry. After one glass! Perhaps a coincidence but it's enough to right the ship. And puts me off the wanting it again in a hurry.

Rolo1324 · 16/01/2021 08:34

Morning!! Made it through Friday night! Zoom call and fruit tea did it! We've got snow here today so a bit of fun playing in with the kids later!!
Have a good day! 😀
