@mrsnibblesisahero I think you may be able to backdate the Try Dry app, it has a calendar and you click on each day (dry or drink)

ApolloandDaphne · 14/01/2021 18:10

My choir starts the new term tonight (online obvs). I am so excited about seeing my friends and singing that I haven't really thought about drinking today!

goldpendant · 14/01/2021 18:28

You can backdate Try Dry, I didn't download it until a few days ago 😁

CandyLeBonBon · 14/01/2021 19:43

Evening all. I have a gruelling couple of days work wise and really struggling emotionally. Feeling v tearful - I suffer with depression and SAD anyway. Add a fucking pandemic and homeschooling into the mix and it's a perfect depression storm.

I desperately want to get blotto. I'm feeling so bleak. Everything feels pointlessly, monotonously relentless and I'm desperate for done thing to break it up.

I've just got back from Tesco...

CandyLeBonBon · 14/01/2021 19:44

...and I came back with this. I deserve a frickin' medal!

What does it taste like?

CandyLeBonBon · 14/01/2021 19:52

@ApolloandDaphne

What does it taste like?
Pretty good actually. Very wine like and not as sweet and 'Jammy' as some I've had - definitely worth a try!
ApolloandDaphne · 14/01/2021 19:54

Ooh. Might get some of that.

goldpendant · 14/01/2021 20:08

I've wanted to try that one @CandyLeBonBon - the Eisberg in bought yesterday was a bit hopeless.

Has anyone tried the AF Freixnet?

Allycat · 14/01/2021 20:32

The 0% Friex is quite nice, but as with all of them, there's just something missing!! I've been putting tonic in everything and it takes the sweetness away and adds a bit of "bite".

MyGhastIsFlabbered · 14/01/2021 20:33

Well done @CandyLeBonBon - it's tough some days isn't it? I still can't work out if AF wine will just make my cravings worse. I really want to get pissed but am determined to see this through - and possibly beyond January. DP thinks we'll cut right down but I can't see it myself.

Blessex · 14/01/2021 21:44

I tried the Nosecco and thanks to @Allycat I added some tonic and yep it takes that sweet edge off. Only drunk half a bottle - feeling virtuous about that ! Keep going everyone. @CandyLeBonBon it’s shit isn’t it. But we can do it!!! I am going to get some of that red.

thenightsky · 14/01/2021 21:46

Has anyone tried the AF Freixnet?

Yes, and its my favourite so far. The Rose is slightly nicer than the white. I've ordered 3 bottles on my Tesco delivery to see me through the weekend.

mrsnibblesisahero · 14/01/2021 21:49

Thanks to @Hepzibar and @goldpendant! I've started Try Dry and it's amazing, so much info, much better than my old one. Day 13 ticked off for me.

mrsnibblesisahero · 14/01/2021 21:52

Sorry you are struggling @CandyLeBonBon. I feel the same work wise. It's always been work and depression (chicken egg situation there) that has been the issue for me and has driven my drinking. But you are doing so well! To keep going when really low is quite something.

PeacheyPeach · 14/01/2021 22:26

Hey all
14 DAYS WOOHOOO!!!! 🤗
Was chatting to my DH before and I would like to carry on AF for the next few months. Really loving waking up without a dull headache that gets worse as the day goes on!!

MrsMcBoatface · 14/01/2021 22:26

Well done, CandyLeBonbon! Just one day at a time. I am having such a meh day/night.. the big disappointment is that while I've committed to AF, I am not feeling amazing, with a slight headache. I'd kind of hoped that I'd be bouncing with wholesome energy and the weight would fall off! But I'm not giving in, I don't think letting myself down would help. I think I'll have a luxury bath instead.

MrsMcBoatface · 14/01/2021 22:31

Just rereading my post and laughing at luxury bath 😂😂 Peachy, well done! I too love waking up without a hangover.

teelizzy · 14/01/2021 22:43

Day 10 here and 5 consecutive days. Longest AF period in months and I'm all the better for it. Keep on keeping everyone, it's a real achievement in this miserable weather.

goldpendant · 14/01/2021 22:51

Def recommend London Essence Pomelo and Pink peppercorn tonic for something with 'bite'. Their Jasmin and peach soda water is also gorgeous.

CandyLeBonBon · 14/01/2021 23:16

@MyGhastIsFlabbered

Well done *@CandyLeBonBon* - it's tough some days isn't it? I still can't work out if AF wine will just make my cravings worse. I really want to get pissed but am determined to see this through - and possibly beyond January. DP thinks we'll cut right down but I can't see it myself.
Yes I'm a bit worried about that tbh. I'm worried that the urge is there and although I'm drink af wine, I'm still going out to buy wine!

I spoke with my therapist and he seems to think it's the ritual that's most important to me, but the wine - ie when I'm stressed, my urge is to get out of the house, go to the shop and buy a bottle. It doesn't matter that it's not alcohol. I suppose that's a a kind of distraction technique? I just worry that the habit itself is unhealthy as well as the alcohol?

Blessex · 14/01/2021 23:16

@teelizzy well done! Dry Jan is a welcome reset and so nice to be doing it together.

CandyLeBonBon · 14/01/2021 23:18

@goldpendant

I've wanted to try that one *@CandyLeBonBon* - the Eisberg in bought yesterday was a bit hopeless.

Has anyone tried the AF Freixnet?

The rose freixnet is nice chilled
Blessex · 14/01/2021 23:19

@CandyLeBonBon I wouldn’t say that wanting to go on a walk, get some fresh air, have a change of scenery and get a drink of something nice is unhealthy. If you can buy something AF even if it is AF wine or beer or gin then that is amazing. It’s the alcohol that is killing us. What you just described isn’t Smile

Blessex · 14/01/2021 23:21

@MyGhastIsFlabbered it’s the fake alcohol that gets me through as you can probably tell! It’s like treating myself and being kind to myself which is what I thought I was doing with alcohol but that was actually slowly killing myself.
