Lockdown sober up...

Day 1 for me. I have been drinking too much wine during lockdown and want to stop - it’s just boring now instead of alleviating the boredom Confused I don’t drink every day but when I do I drink a lot and it’s not healthy. Just a thread for me to be accountable but anyone else feeling the same is obviously welcome Grin

Morning all! I will say this is day 3 for me, had a half glass of wine yesterday, but much better than almost a bottle! I am just under huge stress just before my so much expected holiday for one year and need to complete so many tasks before that. So getting up before 6 and going to bed after 10 is just exhausting. I came back home yesterday at 8.30 and started preparing food etc., had dinner and then just sat down and had couple of sips. I love the taste of sauvignion blanc, I cannot agree!

Did not feel my head spinning though and slept ok, but it is just getting up so early and having extremely busy days is so difficult to go through.

For me main thing is not to be completely AF (one of the joy in life is a glass of wine with a nice meal), but stay with this ONE glass! And not have it every day.

Of course, at later stage I am thinking to have AF months, but with the holiday coming, I will not resist!

Today is the busiest day for me at work!

@Lockdownlush - I often wake with feelings of regret even when there is actually nothing to regret. I gave up for quite a long time a while ago and when I started having the odd glass now and again I really noticed how off kilter I felt the next day. I think it just messes up your brain chemistry.

I am really enjoying being able to wake up and guarantee 100% that I haven't done anything dumb the night before.

I also enjoy the fact that if I forget something - its because I genuinely have forgotten it. Not because alcohol has wiped it out of my memory bank.

Out for a walk with a friend this eve and then telly date with one of my DC - we are watching the Deceived on C5.

KobeWan · 06/08/2020 21:22

How's everyone getting on? I'm getting a bit twitchy because DD has gone to bed and OH is out. The wine has been opened (not by me) and it's calling to me from the fridge!!

ememem84 · 06/08/2020 21:41

Day 6.

Had a nice drink of sparkly water ice and frozen raspberries this evening. I’m enjoying the freshness of my non alcoholic drinks.

lockdownlush · 06/08/2020 23:07

@KobeWan was calling me to earlier.. the wine devil in my head saying just one nice cold glass would be nice. I never gave in and I'm so pleased with myself. Hope you managed to resist temptation to..!

Difford · 07/08/2020 12:07

Day 19 here for me.
Had a challenging day at work yesterday and then had friends over in the evening. Was sooo tempted to drink with them, it was like a physical pain in my stomach, but accepted the feeling and rode it out. Feel great today, really glad I didn't give in and a real sense of achievement and freedom. Keep it up everyone!

SylviaM · 07/08/2020 19:05

Evening all - hows Friday evening going. DH is drinking wine but I took the precaution of putting a couple of AF beers in the fridge so they were nice and cold to have with evening curry.

I'm still getting cravings in the evenings - especially the late night ones and especially worse as there is open wine in the house but have found the Annie Grace info on confronting cravings very helpful.

Last night I nodded off watching something on catch up on telly and was so nice to wake up and just be able to think - gosh I must be tired and take myself off to bed.

Film date with my DC beckoning

KobeWan · 07/08/2020 19:09

I'm on holiday - cottage break with extended family. They're all drinking and have been since we arrived so I will partake, but I'm going to try to moderate!!

KobeWan · 07/08/2020 22:02

Three bottles of low alcohol beer - pretty pleased with myself to be honest! Weird when everyone else is obviously tipsy and you're not.

lockdownlush · 07/08/2020 22:32

@KobeWan I've been at the beach hut all afternoon and the wine was opened when the bbq was lit..! Couple of glasses for me but I'm watching it..!

ememem84 · 08/08/2020 15:22

Day 8. Still enjoying just tonic water and fruit in my glass. It’s been so so hot.

KobeWan · 08/08/2020 23:28

I went to a country pub and drank alcohol free beer but since we got 'home' I've had wine. In bed now and my ears are ringing a bit.
Did have something to celebrate though but it needs to remain a secret until it's confirmed🤞😀

lockdownlush · 09/08/2020 09:49

Well.. my moderation drinking went south yesterday evening and I drank a whole bottle of wine whilst sitting in the garden at sundown. And.. boy did I feel it trying to sleep in that heat last night!!! Anyway, I've learnt my lesson 😆 I can't moderate and wine makes me bloody awful. Him indoors keeps buying it.. I've point blank told him NO MORE. If he continues I'll be very cross.

KobeWan · 09/08/2020 11:17

@lockdownlush
Ditto 🤦‍♀️

lockdownlush · 09/08/2020 12:00

Hey @KobeWan press the re-set button and move on. We shall win this battle 🙌

lockdownlush · 09/08/2020 22:42

In bed with a cuppa and gogglebox on catch up.. feeling proud I made the choice to be AF tonight. Hope you are all doing well.

mummyof4kids · 10/08/2020 08:15

Morning all!
Well I've given myself a good talking to and I'm ready to do this once again.
I didn't come onto the thread because I felt bad that I'd had the wine but reading through your posts has made me realise that I should have been on here and got a kick up the butt from you all.
Ready to go again 😁

Sonrienta · 10/08/2020 08:21

Hi! This looks like the place I need to be! Have pretty much drank everyday since lockdown. Feel rubbish and off alcohol every morning, yet wine ready by tea-time.

lockdownlush · 10/08/2020 09:20

@Sonrienta welcome! Your in good company here.. and @mummyof4kids press the re-set button my lovely, it's Monday which is the start of a new week and new goals.

So pleased I didn't cave and drink yesterday evening. I feel much better for it this morning!! Don't my PT session at 7am sober which is always a good start lol .. I plan to remain focused all week 🙌

KobeWan · 10/08/2020 10:12

Morning all! Feeling much fresher today. It's the last day of our long weekend away and we're heading home this evening.
Back on the wagon and feeling good.
Have a great day everyone, I'll check back later!

Sonrienta · 10/08/2020 21:11

Eeeee almost made it through the first evening, though the temptation is strong!

lockdownlush · 10/08/2020 23:54

In bed with a cuppa.. dead proud of myself as it's been a tough day. I actually poured a glass of wine, left it sitting there all evening.. poured it down the sink and came to bed! The pull was strong but I refused to give in. Right there with you @Sonrienta

lockdownlush · 11/08/2020 19:18

I must not drink wine.. I must not drink wine.. I must not drink wine!!!! And.. repeat.. I must not drink wine.. I must not drink wine.. I must not drink wine!!!

KobeWan · 12/08/2020 00:49

I keep falling asleep before I remember to post! Back on the wagon after our long weekend away. I can take it or leave it now - there's loads of alcohol in the house and I'm not bothered about having some or not having some.
Still struggling not to get carried away though when I do decide to have a drink and it's wine that's my nemesis! So tipsy so quickly! I need to avoid it but it's my favourite!
How's everyone doing?

lockdownlush · 12/08/2020 08:54

Morning! I resisted temptation yesterday and feel so fresh and brand new this morning! Sleep despite the heat is amazing.. I'm craving more and more sleep which shows me how little I've been getting whilst wine fulled. I am the same with wine @KobeWan after one glass I'm tipsy then can't stop.. ☺️
