New thread in case the other fills up while I am busy this weekend.

Did I mention I get married tomorrow? 😁

Rubbish at clicky links but sure someone clever will be along to link the last thread.

This is a support thread for those wanting to reduce the amount you drink. There is no judgement on here. We are all struggling along with our own problems and lives and looking to cut down. You might only want a couple of weekends off. Or reduce the amount of days you drink. Or the amount you drink. Or both.

Whatever your starting point and whatever your goal come and join us for friendly chat and support.

Waterandlemonjuice, please do stick with us. This is a lovely thread. If I were 12 days AF, I'd be bouncing off the walls with delight (even if as a result of a stomach bug...) I have occasionally found myself hoping for a bout of flu or something, just to try to reset my relationship with alcohol. Sad Though I won't be saying that if I actually get flu...

Anglaise, that is brilliant. Well done you. I love the photos. I'm very struck by how pretty and healthy you look. Obviously the healthy part is due to some extent to the running - but you presumably would be running less if you were drinking more, so it's a bit of a win-win.

Wet last night as DP came. I seem to be having run of dampness, one way or another.

woosey35 · 06/08/2018 20:17

Dion - how’s things with dp?

I hit the pink fizz last night although didn’t finish the bottle so was quite chuffed with myself.
Have had a tin of g&t so far and will prob have some wine with dinner. We always eat about 9 as dh works such long hours. It’s good because I don’t drink til he gets home but I can tuck quite a lot away in the time between him coming home and me falling into bed!! Confused

Dionysa · 07/08/2018 13:06

DP is DP, Woosey. And now DD has joined the fray, and is having a rant at me for "never having any time for her" because I'm always working. If she got up before 1 PM, that might help. I suggested we do something this afternoon, and was told that she can't, as she's meeting a friend, and she hates me anyway, so why would she want to do anything with me? Confused Bloody teenagers.

Yet another very large G&T yesterday night. FML.

waterandlemonjuice · 07/08/2018 21:59

Thanks for the welcome Dionysa 🙂
Sorry about teenager. They're BASTARDS sometimes, I know!
I think it's now 13 or 14 days AF. Feel fine but really wish I could go for a boozy dinner with DH on Friday (can't, doing 8 week BSD)

waterandlemonjuice · 07/08/2018 22:00

Anglaise, wow, well done

Frouby · 08/08/2018 07:03

Wow well done angalise, thats a cracking result and a good set of prizes too.

woosey poor you and poor dd. It must be so very hard for both of you, will you get any extra support? Are you claiming carers allowance and can she claim PIP? I know financial help won't make it better but it might give you a few more options.

Welcome Water. Wish I could do 4 days AF never mine 14!

Dion 1 large g and t is still better than 2 or 3 or 4. My teen is actually being quite sweet at the moment. Tho that will probably end this morning when I drag her out of her pit to help do housework.

Wet here. And due to the heat have reverted back to cold cans of lager. Sigh. Only 2 or 3 but no AF days for over a week. Wet on sunday when we had visitors. But not soaking I suppose, glass of wine, 1 can, 2 g and ts.

Had another 2 grass fires local to the ponies. Fuck sake. 1 about half a mile away last week, 1 in a neighbouring pony field across the road last night. Yard owner away fridays for 10 days too which means I am in charge.

Me and dh out out on saturday night, first time in about a year. After that I am going to aim for a good run of dry days.

Frouby, at least one 14 yo girl is being nice!! My DC seem to take it in turns to be horrible. DC1 is now being Mr Piously Perfect. Ugh.

All that said, I was AF last night. Day One for the first time in about a fortnight. It feels like a major achievement. I think it was because I was having one of my intermittent panics about having some form of alcohol-induced cancer.

Very sorry to hear about more grass fires. Do they just start, or is some twunt body starting them off?

Water, 13/14 days is amazing.

Frouby · 08/08/2018 07:38

We think (and the police) it's youths starting the fires just for shits and giggles.

Little bastards want their arses smacking.

The only silver lining to yesterdays fire is it has taken out all the bloody ragwort that was in that particular field that was about to seed and blow onto us Grin.

Am selfishly hoping that they have moved away from our land now. The local residents have been pretty vocal about it all, not just because of the ponies but because of the risk of the methane plant going up. I don't think anyone knows what will happen if it does go up but they are pretty worried.

So hope the fb campaign and mutterings of fingers been broken has scared them away from us.

OP posts:
Dionysa · 08/08/2018 16:05

What a bunch of charmers, Frouby. I hope they have moved on. I dread to think what would happen if they set fire to a methane plant. It's hard to comprehend the mentality of some people.

waterandlemonjuice · 08/08/2018 19:58

That's shocking about the fire starters. Total bastards.

Still AF here, think I'm day 15

Ikwym about panics about alcohol induced cancer / disease in general. I panic like that too.

Dionysa · 08/08/2018 21:18

Not dry tonight. FML.

woosey35 · 08/08/2018 22:19

Frouby - bloody hell!! What a nightmare!! Hope they stay well clear now!!

Waterandlemonjuice - wow 15 days!! You’re doing incredibly!!

Dion - the only reason I would like to be AF or at least majorly moderated, is because of my fear of alcohol induced cancer. It terrifies me. And that’s screwing me up as I rely on wine yet that beats me up with guilt of the cancer risks!! Fml

So I’m totally wet. Constantly totally wet. I can’t even begin to try. And I hate myself for that so much!!
Off to France tomorrow (I’ll wave to you anglais) for just over two weeks. I know I’ll drink every day. I always do on holiday. It’s just me, dh and my two dd’s. leaving ds at home which in itself is causing me major stress!! House on market and ds a slob so my parents coming down to stay with him. He’s furious with me and apparently I’m the crappest mum ever not to trust him!! Ffs he’s 21 and would sleep through a viewing on the house!!
Makes me feel such a crap mum. Can’t do anything right in his eyes and he hates me!! Good for the self esteem!!!!
Plus going to France with dd scares the shit out of me!!

Fml over and over. I just want to wrap my dd up, Batten down the hatches and know she will be safe!!

Hence soaking frigging wet!!

Dionysa · 09/08/2018 07:27

Just very quickly, Woosey, in the hope of catching you before you go ... hope you have a lovely holiday. You really do deserve it. And I will be thinking of your DD.xx

Frouby · 09/08/2018 07:45

I hope you have a lovely, eventfree holiday too woosey. I would be soaking wet in your situation too.

I worry about obesity induced cancers, which is kind of linked to alcohol with me. My plan is to get through the holidays then start a massive lifestyle change. Do 4 AF days a week, ride BabyPony 4 times a week, redecorate my house and ramp up work hours.

Obviously what will happen in the dcs will go back, I will spend a day eating biscuits and watching crap tv and then get pissed to celebrate them being back. Sigh.

Could do with DH working away for a bit, I always get more done when he isn't around and drink a lot bloody less.

Some more gratuitous pony photos. Am so bloody proud of dd. She is a really nervous rider, despite a fuckton of lessons over the last 5 years and riding a variety of ponies. Anyway. She has really bonded with BabyPony and has helped enormously with breaking her in. Wouldn't have ever thought she would get on and ride her away like she has done.

Ds is a different kettle of fish and is a hooligan on SmallPony. SmallPony doesn't quite know what to make of him but so far is playing along nicely.

Less booze. More AF days. But still a bit damp. Not dry jan, but not a soggy summer. Support thread for reducing alcohol.

Thanks so much Dion and frouby.

Anglais - can I ask you a question off subject....
In France, can you confirm the number I need to call for an ambulance???? And is it similar to England in response etc?? Trying to prepare myself Confused

Anglaise1 · 09/08/2018 14:07

Woosey I hope I'm not too late, the number for the amublance is 15 but a lot of people call the pompiers for emergencies and that number is 17.
112 is the European emergency number if you have any doubt!
I hope you have a fab holiday and don't worry the response is very fast and medical excellent.

Dionysa · 09/08/2018 15:56

Frouby, I love, love, love the photos!! And great to hear about your DD and her riding. i would pay for any fuckton of anything to get my DD off her phone...

My resolutions for after the school holidays are the same as yours. I am not overly optimistic, though.

woosey35 · 09/08/2018 17:17

Hey thanks so much anglais. You’re a star. Really hope to god I don’t need to use it but good to know. Thanks.

Dion and frouby - I’m deffo on health kick as soon as kids go back to school. Doing slimming world then too.

Frouby · 10/08/2018 12:47

Jesus H Christ.

Just taken dcs riding. Dsis asked if she could come with nephew who is 4. Said yes as long as he behaves around ponies.

Lunging BabyPony before dd gets on. Lunging is where you have them on a long lead walking and trotting on a big circle around you. Dnephew twatting about at side of sandschool. 3 times I asked him to sit down. Then he produces an empty feed sack from somewhere and waves it about. Poor BabyPony spooked at that. Then he did it again, then still wouldn't sit down as am legging dd up. So he got a very stern telling off from me.

Got SmallPony out for the boys to ride and he did exactly the same bloody thing. SmallPony more reactive than BabyPony so took 10 minutes lunging to settle him enough for ds to get on.

Had promised dnephew a ride so let him on but SmallPony pretty unimpressed with a different jockey so did a very small lap of the school then took him off.

Dsis was a bit taken aback by me bollocking dnephew I think but it was an accident waiting to happen.

Was dry last night but got home and put wine in the fridge. Fml.

OP posts:
Dionysa · 10/08/2018 20:39

Oh, Frouby. I would not be dry after that!!! Well done you for tackling your Dnephew. I am far too much of a wuss to tackle anyone, so am full of admiration.

Wet here. FML. Still, it was nice to have one dry day yesterday.

Frouby · 10/08/2018 20:51

Half a bottle of wine down here. Stopping at that tho.

Was tempted to let SmallPony be the knobber he wanted to be and dump dnephew in his arse but thought it would be a tad extreme. Would have taught him a lesson in consequences tho 😂😂.

I get so annoyed with dsis though. One of my other nephews has recently been diagnosed with autism and possibly adhd. He is a bloody handful and always has been (hes 10 now). My poor dsis has been through so much with him. She is now a single parent, his dad is worse than useless, had to give up her job as he got expelled from school and in a pru for 2 hours a day etc etc etc.

Younger sis who has been today to yard is so judgemental of other sis. Denys he is autistic, says dsis not strict enough, antagonises dnephew when we are out and is just generally unsupportive.

Yet her 2 dcs are little twats. Oldest one is 13, rude, immature, swears, torments the little ones, kicks off and tantrums like a 3 year old. And her 4 year old is almost feral. He was a real PITA today. Borderline dangerous. It's a good job my ponies are kind.

And he is exactly why I don't like family and friends coming to 'see the ponies'. They get 1 visit each in the 6 weeks holidays Grin.

OP posts:
Anglaise1 · 11/08/2018 06:38

Frouby sorry about your nephews and nieces and the way some of them treated your ponies. It would drive me mad too.
Woosey I hope you have a great holiday in France
Dion if it makes you feel better I have only had one dry night this week - forest man was back so spent 3 nights with him and although I only drank one glass of wine each night I'm over my usual 10 units a week. I really couldn't have drunk any more than that though, which is a good sign I suppose. Sex is so much better sober.
He is away again this week so back to AF in the week.

woosey35 · 11/08/2018 19:10

Just dropping by...

Bloody hell frouby, id have been tempted to let consequence happen!! Nephew sounds a knob!! And dsis is in denial!! God you did well to stay dry!!

Dion - how you doing?? Is dp around?

Anglais - gorgeous weather here in France. We’re in Vendée. Then head near arcachon Friday.
Forest man sounds fab!! And aHe does sober sex. Trouble with me is once I’ve had wine, I just want to sleep!!

Frouby · 12/08/2018 16:12

Hope you are having a lovely holiday woosey.

Had to have my little guinea pig pts yesterday. He has been struggling for a while and was deteriorating so made the PTS decision. Was for the best but I still cried like a baby on the vet.

Then last night me and dh went out out! Went for some drinks and a meal. DH had told me that it was just our best man and his wife but a few couples came. Can't stand 1 couple, he is arrogant, monopolises every conversation and turns everything back to him. His wife is boring, stuck up and has quiet a high opinion of her husband.

Another couple came who I hadn't met before. He seemed lovely. She also monopolises conversation. And get this one. My ghast was so flabbered I didn't know what to say.

Room full of adults. All aged 30+. A few different conversations going on. People swearing in conversation, one woman in particular. I say cunt. Referring to my lovely ndn, because we call each other that (not if front of dcs obvs). Wasn't an insult or said harshly. Woman does a comedy double take. I clock her doing it so say cunt again. Just to see.

The fucker said 'I find the C word really offensive, it's vulgar and crude and quite honestly an awful word. Don't say it again please.' WTF. I got told off for swearing by someone the same age as me in a room full of adults.

I just looked at her. Must have had a WTF face.as she looked a bit sheepish and then changed the subject but seriously.

Was then discussing fb ethics and having our dcs friends on there. Said I wont have dds friends or even family dcs on mine as it is full of memes about the 'C word'. She did a tinkly laugh and say 'oh I better not send you a friend request then...' I tinkly laugh and say 'oh no better not, I don't think you would understand my sense of humour....'

Did well on moderation though. Had a glass of wine, 3 lagers, 3 g and ts and a tiger beer with my curry. Am tired but not particularly hung over. And apart from CuntGate was a good night. We did ditch everyone else pretty early and went for a meal with best man and his wife instead of carrying on drinking.

Frouby lololol at cuntgate!! She can fuck the fuck off and when she gets there she can fuck ok some more hey? Sorry about your guinea pig.

Day 20 AF, feeling fine, very determined to get to 8 weeks (doing BSD). Have lost a stone in the past month so that's good. 5 stone to go fgs.
