New thread in case the other fills up while I am busy this weekend.

Did I mention I get married tomorrow? 😁

Rubbish at clicky links but sure someone clever will be along to link the last thread.

This is a support thread for those wanting to reduce the amount you drink. There is no judgement on here. We are all struggling along with our own problems and lives and looking to cut down. You might only want a couple of weekends off. Or reduce the amount of days you drink. Or the amount you drink. Or both.

Whatever your starting point and whatever your goal come and join us for friendly chat and support.

Well done, Littlewing. Not dry here, but not trying. A lot of bad things going on at the moment.

Just checking in to say that since I joined the thread - 18 days dry, 1 day wet (but I was out with friends eating curry and watching Elvis! So it was drinking for an occasion, not just because).

I am truly surprised by my resolve! I quite fancy a drink tonight but we are at a festival tomorrow so will be wet (and not just because it's going to rain all day) so might just hold off tonight and enjoy the crumble I've made instead.

So pleased with myself! Feel like a different person, mentally. I can cry again, but I'm generally happy, not numb or in turmoil... I feel good and less guilty and ashamed about everything.

Less wets, more dry, sometimes damp. We are tryers to be dryers. Thread 3!

Not sure if that has worked but have started a shiny new thread. If someone cleverer than me can link it that would be fab!

See you all on the other side.

Hope everyone is ok, flying in to say I've stuck to it, AF on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and today and will be tomorrow but I'm out on Friday

So I've had alcohol I think 8/9 days since the end of July

Can we have a new thread? Takes ages to load this on my ancient iPad

Just flying past..

Was AF last night and the plan is that I am tonight too. Feel so so much better when I haven’t drunk the night before. I have asked myself today, why do I ever drink when I have the opportunity to feel fresh and in control!!

Flossie what a ridiculous thing for school to say, of course she needs support. Can you go to the governors or the LEA with this? You might need to apply for some additional funding or something.

water I have started to switch to water or soft drinks once I have had a couple. It does help.

Dion I will look out for those, always open to new AF stuff.

Anglaise I am trying to avoid having any hangovers except on very special occasions. I feel so shocking the day after and it's getting worse.

I wasn't dry last night. Had the left over half a bottlw of wine from the weekend. Urgh, I slept awfully and felt shocking this morning. Am dry tonight, am knackered and up at 5am. DS starting big school is bloody knackering, I am about an hour a day down with doing the school run, if not more. Got a million and one things to do at home, on the allotment, for work and with the ponies. My lovely auntie has her first operation next week and I am trying to spend time with her, support my cousin and my mum who are both devastated and keep all the balls in the air.

So don't have time for feeling crap because of alcohol.

But all the different pressures make me want to reach for the gin. Or wine. Or beer. Fml.

Flossie what a ridiculous situation for your DD, of course she needs support and she has as much right to go to school as any child.
water hope you managed AF last night.
cotton well done on Sunday
Dion glad the hypnosis seems to be having a positive effect!
Last week I was only AF one night, only had one unit most days thanks to Forest Man being around a lot, but Friday had a glass of rosé with a friend then finished a bottle of red for some reason (just under half a bottle) - I slept really badly and felt awful on Saturday. Won't be doing that again, its been over a year since I overindulged and it was horrible.
My DC were with their dad and his new wife this weekend, as I live in France they don't come over often but my DD (17) was really shocked that they both got quite drunk on Saturday night - "what's the point in coming over to see us when they just drink a lot and end up not speaking to each other". She has a point!
AF last night and intend to be all week.

I managed to have one glass on Sunday. Got myself a pint of coke at same time, enjoyed the wine first, but then had something else to stop me going to bar again. My new strategy.

A friend coming over later. I said not to bring wine. Phew close call. She's driving, I would have had all of it.

flossie I hope you get some help for dd. Have you tried your MP?

Flossie, that is just shocking. It's almost unbelievable that a child who stops breathing isn't deemed in need of support. I'd be sticking a straw in a bottle of Pinot too. Flowers

Dion thanks for the pic. Worth a shot I’d say.

Totally pissed. #ashamednotashamed!!
Dropped ds back to uni this wkend. 7 hours each way. Paying £600 pm and it’s a crap house. Anyway, he’s happy. Came home. Dd back at school but been told her support isn’t going to be there. So basically she can’t go to school because the bloody system is failing her. She doesn’t fit into the criteria. She stops breathing ffs. She doesn’t have behavioural problems....she stops breathing. Apparently that doesn’t warrant support in school!! Ffs!! She’s had 4 months off school. Been back 5 days. I’ve been on my nerves but she’s managed. Now this!!!!!! So I came home from the meeting and basically stuck a straw in the top of a bottle of Pinot! Fml over and over!!

Just checking in... Tiny glass of wine at lunchtime, but dry afterwards (superhuman effort) and this evening. Made a good discovery in Tesco - will try to post a photo of it. Interestingly, I was put off having a second by the fact that it has about 120 calories in it (i.e. about a zillion calories fewer than a bottle of wine, which I could happily drink without a thought Confused).

Also signed up for another hypno thing - Georgia Foster. I was emailed a free trial session, but I don't think I will buy the whole thing for £80, as it seemed less 'me' than the Ailsa F hypnotherapy method. Plus there's a very hard sell - I now keep getting emails reminding me to sign in, buy things, etc, etc, etc...

Frouby, that is so lovely of you, but I've had some hideous gin nights too Sad. Yesterday was a bit of a write-off as I was leaving old friend and might not see her again for ages, so we had a bit of a blow-out. Back to the hypnotherapy today.

Water, the great thing is that you know you can do it. You have done it before. There are bound to be blips - that's normal! Good luck...

Cotton, congrats on a dry Saturday!!

Frouby, you're going to have to start a new thread soon...

Hi everyone, I've been terrible, I drank last Sunday (before work on Monday, urgh) then AF on Monday and Tuesday but drank on Wednesday as I was working from home on Thursday then carried on Thursday because there was cold wine leftover in the fridge. Lethal. Then had friends over on Friday, fab night but drank loads then drank last night AND ate Dominos so wine and carb double whammy.

But no alcohol today so that's 3 nights AF since last Sunday which is rubbish. But I'm not going to drink until Friday now, when DH and I are going out.

I had a sober Saturday, can't remember the last time that happened! Well done everyone else too. I can't decide if to have wine when we go out today. Might open the floodgates.

I think this weekend has been a success. No hangovers. No dry days but haven't been pissed as a fart once! Had 3 cans of lager friday with my curry. Then 2 small glasses of wine last night.

DH hasn't drunk at all which really helps me moderate. He drinks more during the week after work which is annoying as I would prefer to be dry in the week and damp at a weekend. But he drinks far more than me so any abstinence on his part is very goos news.

Dion I would definetly call your weekend a success. Think how far you have come from 7/8 months ago. You regularly have dry nights, you don't drink loads of gin anymore and even on wet nights you aren't doing loads of units. You should be proud lady. We all should when I look back at the first thread.

We need a new one soon, almost 2 full threads of chatting and not being as wet. We are all superstars. Obviously I am supersmug because no hangover 😂😂😂

Dion I’d say that wasn’t a fail. If I hadn’t seen a friend for a year I’d have had more than that!! Plus only one cocktail while out is moderation!! Hope it was a lovely evening. You certainly deserve it x
