Hi

Dh and I had our initial conversation with the sw in august and they agreed that we could proceed to stage one.
We took a while to fill in the initial
Form as we decided to refurb a bit of our house. But I’ve posted them off today.
We’ve some medical issues which may mean we won’t be accepted but I’d love to find some others just starting out so we can compare notes :)

Wow that's good, we've been told by social worker they could be anything from 120 -200 quid 😮

Karcheer · 23/01/2021 08:40

@claireb7rg they were about £90 each.

That's still on the good side, fingers crossed ours are about the same 🤞

I am at the beginning stages of adoption and a qualified social worker who was once in the adoption team. I found in the initial conversation stage the social worker was a bit presumptuous I had to stop her say "as you know". I'm so excited but also nervous about being on the other side of the assessment page

New here. Hi all, not sure if this is how I do it but are there any single adopters out there? I'm at stage one of my process, waiting for medical, filling out workbook and have training in a couple of weeks. Would love to connect to fellow single adopters to chat. Look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Karcheer.
We have just been invited to stage one. 1st SW's report on us was weird, we had to send corrections back which was worrying.
We were then contacted by a manager SW who apologised about the actions of the first SW and we were approved to start stage one. Was a bit of a surprise but we are excited to start.

[quote Fingerscrossed12]@sunshineandskyscrapers thank you! Any advise is good advice :)

I’m wondering what ex partners are asked as I’ve not seen the forms, any ideas? X

Hi. Where on stage one currently and have been told only significant partners need to be contacted i.e. anyone you’ve already got children with or may have previously lived with. Hope that helps x

NikkieS · 12/02/2021 12:20

We’ve had an email this morning to say we’ve been accepted to stage one. I’m so excited.
Bring on all the paperwork 😂😂

HIPPYCHICK74 · 04/03/2021 01:21

Hi I'm a single adopter, been approved over a year ago. Had negative ex reference but didn't mess things up luckily. Goodluck with the journey. It's tiresome and hard work, will test your resilience and be emotional. But I'm sure and hopeful you will get to the matching stage, where I'm at now.

Biscuitkeeper · 04/03/2021 17:49

Just filling in application for stage 1. Very excited 😊

NikkieS · 04/03/2021 19:18

Haha hope you enjoy paper work! There’s so much of it but it’s worth it for the end result. We’re just waiting to go our 3 days course at the end of this month then fingers crossed it’s on to stage 2! ❤️

claireb7rg · 04/03/2021 21:10

Ha yes the paperwork, they didn't mention the volume of it when we started 😩😩

Still wading through the 24 pages of questions on the family form, we have 1st of 3 training days next week

gizmoismymate · 06/03/2021 08:31

Hello everyone. We are just at the start of our journey. We have had a virtual home visit and done the ROI. Our references have been contacted and we are booked on training 4 April, mainly because by then in the UK it will be face 2 face, which our social worker feels is a better bounding experience. Wishing u all well on your journey x

Morning. My husband and I initially enquired about adopting in September, SW visited in November and we have the first of our online prep classes on Thursday this week (another on Saturday then the same next week). Has anyone else had their peers class online? Or maybe even in Scotland and might be on ours?
