I hesitate to put this on the board but would be interested in the views of anyone who watches this - it's tonight on BBC 1 at 9pm.

I hope it gives a balanced account. Then there is the Channel 4 programme on Wednesday T 10pm on Finding a Mum and Dad.

believe it or not - some mothers do not understand that they need to contact a solicitor. Some do not actually get a chance - it happens that quickly.

Some solicitors give out free advice - because they've seen what can happen first hand.

children are not put up for adoption very quickly. You have been misinformed.

wizardpc · 14/01/2014 16:12

I never said they're put up for adoption quickly - they can be taken in an instant though.

Yes, Essex. The land of grammar schools and UKIP.

Kewcumber · 14/01/2014 16:12

to be fair Snagria - I think JH pretty much posts under his own name. If I wanted to be uncharitable then I would say its because he can't resist the attention. But as I'm feeling charitable today so lets say he stands by his convictions publically. Not everyone does.

There are lots of people fighting on the side of parents, trying to reform of the system and some of them actually work in it Shock

What annoys me is that the people with the views which are most damaging to parents who have been accused of abuse are the ones who get the most publicity.

I guess its because they shout the loudest.

DrankSangriaInThePark · 14/01/2014 16:17

Ah, OK, Maryz. Sorry. Was just shuddering at thought of being associated with small furry creatures that jump off cliffs.

Sorry Kewcumber!

Wizard, of course children don't get put up for adoption quickly, though that is no doubt the scaremongering tactics used by self-acclaimed experts who do things like advise vulnerable women to flee the country.

DrankSangriaInThePark · 14/01/2014 16:18

He's been banned though Kew, so he his having to send his fans on his behalf. Although, as Maryz says, that there @ is a tad telling.

nennypops · 14/01/2014 16:20

believe it or not - some mothers do not understand that they need to contact a solicitor. Some do not actually get a chance - it happens that quickly.

But councils have to write to parents in this situation giving a list of local solicitors who specialise in child care cases and telling them that they are entitled automatically to legal aid. They send out these letters routinely.

Some solicitors give out free advice - because they've seen what can happen first hand.

But you can get free advice on legal aid from all specialist child care solicitors who do legal aid if care proceedings are in process. If the solicitor you refer them to doesn't do that or refer them to legal aid solicitors, there is something very odd going on.

And I ask again, how and why do people come to you, a web consultant, to advise on child protection proceedings?

Kewcumber · 14/01/2014 16:20

Oh absolutely agree with the follower/style theory.

No apology necessary it was my mistake.

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 14/01/2014 16:22

Not only has he been banned, but at least one poster that I have seen has been banned, whose only crime was that their posts looked like a darn good impression. Because, of course, they can't have been him. But then why were they banned? Its a conspiracy, I tells ya! Wink

I'm intrigued that wizard is so coy about how he makes contact with all these women desperate for his and his lawyer mate's advice on their child protection cases. It must mean that he actively recruits them through a website or similar. Any chance of a link? Surely if he is doing so much good he wants to publicise it? And any chance of an explanation why?

LEMmingaround · 14/01/2014 16:31

I had nightmares after watching this. My dd ( thankfully) hardly gets sick and the inly medical attn she has on her records are for injuries. Burnt hand, bitten tongue - this was awful and horse trod on foot and toe nail falling off. These over about five years I guess but because she hasn't been to the doctors with illness these are the only recent medical notes. The nurse commented she is accident prone. She isn't. Biut it looks that way - I have mh issues and watching that program made me feel physically sick. What if we had over zealous nurse?

We MUST put child protection first but they need protecting from being taken away from their parents wrongly.

wizardpc · 14/01/2014 16:39

i don't recruit anyway. What you lot find hard to accept is that someone would help for no financial gain, through no website (I could if I wanted do that), no ulterior motive - except for trying to right some wrongs or prevent more wrongs being committed.

I have reasons as Ive said. We all have reasons for what we do - some selfish some not

drspouse · 14/01/2014 16:41

So please tell us how they find you? Do you walk around the streets with a sandwich board, for example?

MadameDefarge · 14/01/2014 16:43

many of us do volunteer work, dear Wizard, so don't assume you are the only person in the world who has altruistic moments.

That would be just silly.

wizardpc · 14/01/2014 16:45

its not volunteer work - yeah big board with a bat on it.

I am merely active in certain networks - no secret to it

Kewcumber · 14/01/2014 16:45

I don't find it hard to accept at all wizard, its exactly what charities do. But on the whole I find they are more upfront about their aims and have plenty f reputable people working with them and give good advice.

I would be extremely uneasy given the amount of good competent advice there is out there at what and uninvolved unqualified untrained and undisclosed website designer has to add.

But I'm sure that you just refer them on to competent advocates so no harm done.

But I too am baffled how so many people find you given that you are a such man of mystery.

LEMmingaround · 14/01/2014 16:47

So is it all lies then? Confused

Kewcumber · 14/01/2014 16:48

LEM - does the fact that for 5 years and so many injuries which you think look suspicious and any number of medical professionals involved in each injury with no seriosu concerns raised not reassure you?

My friend was reported by someone (not a healthcare professional) and whilst the process was intimidated it came to nothing and her child was not at any stage removed.

LEMmingaround · 14/01/2014 16:48

who is wizard, what is she claiming to do? don't have time to rtft

LEMmingaround · 14/01/2014 16:50

Yes kewcumber it does, but we were able to explain the injuries, what if we couldn't?
