I hesitate to put this on the board but would be interested in the views of anyone who watches this - it's tonight on BBC 1 at 9pm.

I hope it gives a balanced account. Then there is the Channel 4 programme on Wednesday T 10pm on Finding a Mum and Dad.

Oh, and I should have written "underground railroad" where I wrote "underground railway" - which is something entirely different! I have no idea whether the family used the tube and/or chunnel.

What caught my eye, in the judgement, is the statement " I ask myself rhetorically: what reasons might he have for lying? There is, in my judgment, only one reason why he is lying, and that is to protect his daughter and ... ". When it is blindingly obvious to anyone with a modicum of common sense that the (quite likely misguided) motivation for wiring money was to protect his granddaughter. Dimwit or knave?
