Just seen this. I’ve never heard of this particular reason being invoked to prevent publication.

LucyFreyaUrquhartDixon · 17/10/2026 00:55

I hadn't heard of it until your post.

Pieceofpurplesky · 17/10/2026 01:02

Curiouser and curiouser

Twilight7777 · 17/10/2026 01:12

Perhaps only fools know who the person is 😏

BoredZelda · 17/10/2026 01:36

Why assume it’s a man, it may well be a lady.

MeAndMyGhost · 17/10/2026 01:40

What in the Little Britain is this all about then?

Why assume it’s a man, it may well be a lady.

The first paragraph of the article says ‘him’.

He was my first thought. So many allegations over so many years, I’ll be shocked if it isn’t him.

My first thought. Creepy man.

I think you missed the intent of that post

St0rmF0rce · 17/10/2026 02:07

Yeah that's got DW written all over it. Has been a long time coming.

I hadn't heard of it until your post.

Same. I also think that these kinds of posts are irresponsible as it's no doubt just going to lead to a load of speculation and completely innocent people's names being brought up.

OhTheCowsInTheMeadowGoMoo · 17/10/2026 02:19

Didn't even read the comments before posting mine and see its already started.

noodlezoodle · 17/10/2026 02:51

I can't see a world in which this post doesn't get deleted.

But it's a very interesting situation, and if it's the person that 90% of this thread thinks it is, I believe it's an entirely cynical attempt to prevent publication. I also think it won't work.

Given the undisputed facts that are already in the public domain, the allegations must be so much worse than I expected.

Meadowfinch · 17/10/2026 03:30

Isn't it a known tactic of abusers, that they seek to control their victims by threatening to commit suicide.

Seems this person, whoever they may be, is trying that on the court. I hope they fail. Imagine what a precedent it would set !

Iwantanothergo · 17/10/2026 04:32

This is an extension of emotional blackmail. It reminds me of the case being brought by barrister Sarah Phillimore against Jolyon Maugham for defamation in alleging that her "wicked" online comments drove transwoman Sophie Molly to attempt suicide (even though the latter had posted on Twitter about other attempts, caused by other problems).

It's like saying "Don’t you dare be nasty to me or I’ll kill myself and it will be Your Fault!"

GarlicEverything · 17/10/2026 04:45

the relevant duties under the ECHR were not triggered and should not prevent publication, and in any event, mitigations could be put in place to protect the claimant.

Very much this. The articles are Right To Life and Prevention Of Torture. One really hopes the judge won't be so daft as to accept that making someone very sad falls within their remit!

If people around the subject truly fear he'll top himself, they can take steps to help him cope. Or their fear could be that he'll choose death over facing the allegations. They could still support him.

Mapletree1985 · 17/10/2026 05:02

"Don't hold me to account for my shitty actions - I'll kill myself if you do!"

Isn't that classic manipulator behavior?

Makes me think he really did do whatever it is he's being accused of.

When an adult individual commits suicide, no one else is responsible but the individual who made that decision. Withholding information that is in the public interest because the individual concerned might harm himself would be a terrible precedent to set.

Because threatening to harm himself if anyone holds him accountable for his actions is classic male abuser behavior.

Nah, I don't think it wil lead to innocent people's names being brought up.
I think we all know it's Walliams.
A lot of us have been sitting back patiently waiting for his day to come.
Looks like it's getting closer.

It’s a hint as to who it could be, they’re not really suggesting a woman has done this.
