We can not live in a world where people can behave as they please, and then threaten to harm themselves if the truth is made public.

But he already has tried to harm himself, twice.

ChristmasGreyhound · 17/10/2026 09:25

Print it. He most likely won't carry out his threats as most of them don't. If he does, then maybe that will deter future famous predators from commiting crimes once they see that there actually are consequences.

KidsDoBetter · 17/10/2026 09:25

Almost defo Walliams. From DM this week

Injunction against ITN by a well known individual?
likelysuspect · 17/10/2026 09:28

I work with lots of service users who are actively suicidal and have suicdal thoughts and they never get detained, just 'crisis treatment' which means a few visits a week if that, if anyone bothers to turn up, to do virtually nothing

How do people get treated and hospitalised so easily? Private?

Eesha · 17/10/2026 09:30

He must have made tens of millions on the books.

Askandyforcompo · 17/10/2026 09:31

Yes, definitely Walliams as it's been publicly stated in court that he has suicidal thoughts.

My dad used to threaten suicide every time he thought my mum might leave thus ending his abuse of her. She always gave in and the cycle continued.

I think it must be. Our area doesn't actively seem to do anything unless several serious attempts have been made. Counselling takes 6 months to get here. If he can pay for a super-injunction I doubt he is on an NHS waiting list.

That is completely separate to the issue.

If we live in a world where everyone can behave as they like because they are protected from the consequences by simply saying they are going to harm themselves then no one is safe.

So we let someone* commit rape, murder, extortion, fraud and then let them get away with it because they hurt themselves?

What about all the people that they hurt?

*For the avoidance of doubt I am not saying this celebrity did any of these things, it is just a general conversation on a world where threatening to harm yourself is seen as a free pass to hurt others.

Over40Overdating · 17/10/2026 09:34

@likelysuspect he’s a multi millionaire who can pay for treatment and a team around him heavily invested in keeping him
safe. Wealth buys you a very different experience at all points - as the injunction proves.

38thparallel · 17/10/2026 09:38

Martin Bashir apparently threatened suicide to avoid punishment when his fraudulent practices over his Princess Diana interview came to light.
Maybe he should’ve thought of the prospective damage to her and her family before he acted.

Same. I also think that these kinds of posts are irresponsible as it's no doubt just going to lead to a load of speculation and completely innocent people's names being brought up.

People shouldn't be allowed to take out injunctions either. You do the crime then take accountability for your actions. And stop playing the mental health card as well. It's disgusting.

Just seen this. I’ve never heard of this particular reason being invoked to prevent publication.

The wealthy an afford to get a super injunction to stop us knowing there was an injunction in the first place! THAT’s two tier justice!

SereneFinch · 17/10/2026 06:36

I don’t think people’s mental health should be ignored just so we can enjoy some drama and scandal. If he has broken the law, there should be a police investigation and the usual rules of confidentiality applied.

People's mental health should also not be a reason for avoiding discussions of things that are in the public interest. Tempting though it might be to "be kind" about this, especially following so close on the heels of the Jason Arday case, it would be a terrible precedent to set.Unscrupulous men (and some women) would take advantage, hiding their actions from public scrutiny and themselves from accountability.

This is an extension of emotional blackmail. It reminds me of the case being brought by barrister Sarah Phillimore against Jolyon Maugham for defamation in alleging that her "wicked" online comments drove transwoman Sophie Molly to attempt suicide (even though the latter had posted on Twitter about other attempts, caused by other problems).

It's like saying "Don’t you dare be nasty to me or I’ll kill myself and it will be Your Fault!"

Let them. They rarely do it anyway. They are all mouth 🙄😡

LizzieSiddal · 17/10/2026 09:40

I read the article in The Times this morning and immediately thought of DW. It all fits and there have been articles in newspapers going back years, a quick google will bring up the artickes where women are stating at the very least, he is extremely creepy.
What incensed me is that the makers of TV programmes don’t give a fuck about the young girls. It’s always “protect the talent”. ITV knew DW’s behaviour was extremely inappropriate, senior staff would have been listening as DW was saying those awful things which were later leaked. No one is ever held accountable.
Same goes for Russell Brand and MTV and the BBC.

That's his responsibility and the responsibility of his loved ones. It's nothing to do with me.

Or one correct name... David Walliams...

I always eye rolled at the fact he moved into children's literature.

It was clear to anyone with eyes he was a pervert.
Same with Russell Brand who (happily) is currently on trial...

AI also just told me that US oil prices are high because of the war in Ukraine... Seems to have forgotten all about Hormuz.

I asked AI when CPR was invented, because I watched something about CPR not being a thing in the 1950s. CoPilot told me that it was 1996, which caused me to raise an eyebrow because I took a CPR class in 1991.

But there’s a high profile case currently in the courts, that would’ve never got there had it not been for an expose on TV.

This. Claimant One only came forward after the documentary. Many victims believe it was “just them”.

Gengha · 17/10/2026 10:01

If he might kill himself, he needs to seek mental health treatment. Using threats of suicide in this way to get what he wants
is just manipulation and I hope the court see through it

Bitsostuff · 17/10/2026 10:08

Well I'm just glad the courts are being used to centre the wellbeing of a potential abuser over his victims....

I don’t see how that changes anything. Surely we can’t allow a precedent to be set whereby some people can receive preferential treatment from the justice system, because they have previously attempted suicide and might do so again?

I suppose I can see that it might be reasonable to order a short postponement of the publicity, until his mental health has improved, but firstly that’s a slippery slope and secondly I would have thought it would make things worse for him to know he had that hanging over him.

AnAlpacaForChristmasPleaseSanta · 17/10/2026 10:17

Totally OT but this week DW just happened to be sitting full square in the window of a London cafe looking sad and being comforted by a friend. At the same time a passing paparazzi just happened to spot him and take some shots which then just happened to end up on DM online.

and? If he is such a severe suicide risk he needs to be sectioned and put on 24 hour watch. Or take his chances with our rubbish mental health services like all the other poor mentally ill people have to.
