A few weeks ago I was looking for the block of Emmental I’ve been buying at my local Sainsbury’s for years. Wasn’t there. A helpful member of stuff showed me it had been moved to a section at the end of the aisle, together with what seemed to be an eclectic mix of items.

Today the exact same scenario happened and the poor Emmental wasn’t at the end of the aisle either. Very friendly member of staff tells me that when they go to the end of the aisle it’s pretty much game over for them. Next step is the product being discontinued.

Could I have saved the Emmental, I wonder? Had I purchased it aggressively over the last few weeks?

I guess we’ll never know. Off I trot to Lidl.

Tesco, years and years ago, used do to a finest cinnamon roll pull apart bread thing. I still wax for it.

I've been hunting for Geo Watkins mushroom ketchup and it seems to be no more. Gone after nearly 200 years!
Previously it was Kellogg's Plain Wheats - nicer than Shredded Wheat - but just disappeared - no info available online, but when ebay starts selling a box of cereal for £99.99 the writing seems to be on the wall.

Lidl used to do a low-alcohol wheat beer that DH loved, and supposedly couldn’t tell from the alcoholic one. And Shield soap seems to be getting quite hard to find.

Tescos used to do a beetroot pesto in their wicked kitchen range that I still think about a lot.
They also did strawberries and cream ice lollies a couple of years back that I became obsessed with and so they discontinued those.

Waitrose pear and chocolate tarte. Also they did a coconut dark chocolate bar that broke my heart when they discontinued.

Cadbury Chocolate Chip and Hazelnut cookies. Actually, probably not, as I had zero resistance to them, and would literally eat all 9 in the pack in one sitting.

Tesco used to sell an amazing ginger jam/ marmalade which appears to be no more. There’s just 20 varieties of normal marmalade in their place.

It was amazing in porridge with some cinnamon, or on a crumpet.

I’m going to try and make my own.

Have you tried Mrs Darlington's ginger jam? I've seen it in Sainsbury's I think.

Waitrose 3 for £12 ready meals seem to be getting discontinued. I loved the kofta meal, it did me 2 nights.

OGX Coconut Curls air dry cream was the best for my frizzy mop - had an email from them about a month ago to say it had been discontinued. Gutted. It made my hair look presentable.

On the plus side I called into Morrisons last week for the first time in a couple of years and discovered that they've brought Festival Gateau back! So, I'll be calling in again. And again. And again.
