Lighthearted - Save the discontinued product!

A few weeks ago I was looking for the block of Emmental I’ve been buying at my local Sainsbury’s for years. Wasn’t there. A helpful member of stuff showed me it had been moved to a section at the end of the aisle, together with what seemed to be an eclectic mix of items.

Today the exact same scenario happened and the poor Emmental wasn’t at the end of the aisle either. Very friendly member of staff tells me that when they go to the end of the aisle it’s pretty much game over for them. Next step is the product being discontinued.

Could I have saved the Emmental, I wonder? Had I purchased it aggressively over the last few weeks?

I guess we’ll never know. Off I trot to Lidl.

@duckingclueless Morrisons have frozen mushy peas - I saw them today and thought bleerg! (Don't like mushy peas!)

I too miss Spangles and Pacers and only today filled in an online form asking Terry's to bring back their Neapolitans! I miss them, part of my childhood as they were always trotted out for special occasions. How grown up it was to have the 'cafe au lait' aged 6....

I'm sure I saw a coffee walnut whip in M&S a few weeks back. Must go and have a look! Their bag of mini whips are fun without a walnut and easy to stuff in whole. Yes, I'm greedy (and also losing weight so must be restrained!)

Harry Ramsden’s Steak Pie from Iceland

Sainsbury’s Steak and Guiness Pie Mix

Lidl’s Steak Sauce

Definitely a theme going on there!

PickAChew · 12/10/2026 21:07

Waitrose gluten free coffee and walnut cake. I miss it so much.

Crispynoodle · 12/10/2026 21:13

When I was a child I used to love the ice lollies that had jelly in the middle 50years ago! Wibbly wobbly or something. Also Smiths bovril crisps I would love a box of them!

Philadelphia was at end of the cheese aisle here

and that’s not going anywhere

I think this member of staff was blowing smoke up your ass @pancakesallday

Frish toilet cleaner

If only I'd known it was on its way out, I'd have bought it by the box load

Those waitrose garlic bread bites in the green packet, i really miss those so bad 😪.

Gatekeeper · 12/10/2026 21:22

Another one for Biotex here. Nothing else matches it

Nivea Soft non vegan version. We will never see its like again! 😊

I second this. Some time last year I read on here that Asda was selling it so rushed to my local one and bought all 9 tubs. So I'm good for a while, but when that's gone, it's gone. 😭

I've still got a box of that in my laundry cupboard.

Cinnamon Churros will be missed when they're gone - I'm still finding them in budget stores occasionally but I'm sure in time they just won't be available any more. And the Kellogg's Crunchy Nut peanut butter, only ever found now in Home Bargains or B&M or Savers. I keep an eye out and get a few when I spot them, because one day there will be nada. Like Lizi's treacle and pecan granola, I'd only been able to find it in Matta's in Liverpool. And now even they don't have it any more. <sniffle>

I've thought of some more. Touch of Taste concentrated bouillon in little bottles, and Oxo Chinese/Italian stock cubes.

Oh yes, I loved the bouillion in bottles. Preferred it to the "small" tubs - they are sachet size but not sachets. I can use what I want from a squeezy bottle.

I'm still mourning the passing of Natrel anti-perspirant which hasn't been available since about 2006 <sob>

This is a great thread.

Thirded.

And all the former versions of chocolate bars which now all taste disgusting. All Cadbury's chocolate, Galaxy etc ... the recipes aren't the same. They'd better not come for Yorkie bars.

Primark did a fantastic cleansing balm - the type you wash off with a hot cloth - for £3. THREE POUNDS! It was just as good as the Clinique / Elemis ones. Vanished about 3 years ago never to return. RIP.
