Dd1 (about to be 17) is very particular. They cannot feel sweaty. They must be machine washable. They need a substantial sole you cannot feel the floor through. I doubt get feet will grow now so happy to spend a bit.

please tell me about your non awful slippers and dd2 and I are happy with fluffy ones from Tesco’s 😂

I can't abide sweaty slippers either. My solution is a pair of Uggs that are indoor only (my first were fake but still sheepskin) - warm, comfy, padded, not sweaty.

Fur lined ballerina slippers, sometimes with a sole. Boden ones this year, with a Pompom on the top, arriving in a day or 2. I know it’s turning autumnal when I buy a new pair of slippers for the cooler seasons!

Mahabis - husband loves his and when they wore out (after years!) he wanted an exact replacement. That said I’m currently enjoying some furry crocs (not slippers ones with proper soles) that will be used only as slippers

Crocs or uggs here.

My husband wears these and they are the first pair of slippers he has owned in 50-odd years that don't make his feet sweaty and stinky (and believe me we tried a lot of different slippers before we found these). They're not machine washable, but the soles wear out after 4-5 years of frequent wear before they need washed.

Personally I really like Moshulu ballet pump slippers. They are so comfortable and durable and look reasonably smart if you have unexpected visitors. Also not machine washable, but a pair lasts me years and I've never felt the need.

Thanks I have sent examples of all these to dd1 for her to choose but keep them coming

I have a pair of fleece lined crocs I keep for indoors only, wear them with socks though, never barefoot.

Birkenstock Boston clogs, sage green nubuck. Last for years so no worries about yet more plastic going to landfill. Cool in the summer, big enough for cosy socks in the winter. Proper soles, not slippery.
No need to wash as they're a cork footbed and leather upper, no sweating happening here!
A lot more than 1 pair of supermarket slippers but a lot less than a new pair of supermarket slippers every year for the minimum 10 years they'd last.

Vionic rejuvenating slides. Not really slippers, but they are my indoor shoes. Great for supporting my high arches. If my feet are cold I wear socks so never sweaty and always clean.

I've just ordered some skechers slippers today, and hopefully they're good. I usually get cheap supermarket fluffies that only last 6 months.

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · Yesterday 16:06

I have clogs from Primark which have a good solid sole (about an inch thick) but are fleecy lined so will be a bit sweaty.

DeftGoldHedgehog · Yesterday 16:08

I have this type (Rock Dove). Last a few years and I just stick them in the washing machine every now and then.

Crocs are probably the most practical and easiest to keep clean

Moshulu sheepskin are lovely. Don’t need to be washed as they are not sweaty. Some of the colours are a bit Confused but they do natural shades too.

I have these balllerina-style slippers. So comfy.

I'd recommend the following are worth a look:

Drapers of Glastonbury
Josef Siebel, Betsy Clog
Birkie clogs, shearling or otherwise.

Birkenstock

TheoreticallyAdult · Yesterday 18:31

Fleece lined crocs.

They last forever.

PollyannaWhittier · Yesterday 18:52

I wear Birkenstock Madrids as slippers - with socks in the winter, without the rest of the time.

I have the same issues with floppy soles and sweaty synthetic fluff on most slippers !

Whenindoubthugitout · Yesterday 18:59

I have gumbies.
love them. First pair lasted about 8 years of everyday wear

Doubleth · Yesterday 19:12

The old-style wool Birkinstock Zermatt with a fluffy sock. Mine were about £80 I think, but they've lasted years. I'll probably replace them next year at some point.
