Dd1 (about to be 17) is very particular. They cannot feel sweaty. They must be machine washable. They need a substantial sole you cannot feel the floor through. I doubt get feet will grow now so happy to spend a bit.

please tell me about your non awful slippers and dd2 and I are happy with fluffy ones from Tesco’s 😂

Going against the fleece lined crocs they get sweaty and stinky and are impossible to wash

doglikescheeseontoast · 06/10/2026 10:16

Gumbies. They have different styles, from mules to boot-type ones. I’ve had one pair for years, and have given them to all my adult children and their partners.

I have had these for over 10 years and nothing else compares. They've gone up in price hugely since I first bought them but only need to replace every few years (and I wear them constantly from autumn to spring). They feel very intense and tight for the first couple of days and then the sheepskin moulds to your feet and they're bliss.

The best slippers I ever had were sheepskin slip-ons from TK Maxx for about £30. Comfy, warm, safe in the house on slippy floors/stairs, non sweaty, looked nice.

They lasted years and I replaced them with an almost identical pair from TK Maxx again.

When they died, I went rogue and bought:
heavenly feet mule suede slippers - very comfy but not as warm. Got baggy and felt unsafe without very thick socks.
Ugg flatform copies from TK maxx - they were genuine sheepskin but were very restrictive and I felt like a tit walking around on platform slippers in the house. Plus I went over my ankle on them going upstairs and decided to bin them before "having a fall."

This year Santa is getting me another pair of sheepskin mules from TK maxx. Should have stuck with them all along.

I have a pair of fleece lined crocs I keep for indoors only, wear them with socks though, never barefoot.

Exact same here, indoors only, fleece lined crocs that I always wear with socks. I love them, they're so cosy and comfortable.

ClaudiaWrinklemum · 06/10/2026 22:38

I just bought a pair of these and they’re spectacular.

Haflinger wool felt slippers, more of an indoor shoe really because it has a cork footbed and rubber sole. I've had mine about 4 or 5 years now and they don't smell AT ALL!! I gave the inner sole a bit of a refresh with a nailbrush and soapy water once but other than that they are in good condition and are the best things I've ever bought.

The rubber sole is getting a bit worn away around the heels so that will give me an excuse to get a new pair but I dearsay there's a bit of life left in them yet. Check out the reviews, I think i went a half size down in them.

Birkenstock London Shearling - not machine washable though

Jayinthetub · 07/10/2026 00:50

Bedroom athletics fluffy boots are amazing!

I've just ordered some skechers slippers today, and hopefully they're good. I usually get cheap supermarket fluffies that only last 6 months.

Good choice, you will not be disappointed, :)

Lippyflippy · 07/10/2026 05:40

Laines London or Wolf and Badger fluffy sliders (my feet get too hot in a full slipper)

ICantStomachWhelks · 07/10/2026 05:48

I’ve had a pair of Glerups for about 10 years and they’ve never been washed. They don’t smell at all.

i also have sheepskin lined Birkenstocks which I love.

Saltedcarameltiramisucheesecake · 07/10/2026 08:16

@Sugarsandwich
Got them on, they are lovely and warm, just perfect. £24 on Amazon.

Basildon4Eva · 07/10/2026 12:48

I had some wool boot like ones from Etsy which were really warm and comfy and not sweaty, but the sole wore out after less than a year 😔

Now I wear slip-on Merrell sandals as slippers and they're great. Very comfy, light, and I like my toes being free. If I get cold I just wear with thicker socks.

BigAnne · 07/10/2026 15:53

Have a look at Sketchers, they do brilliant slippers.

TwitTwoodiniEscapeOwlogist · 07/10/2026 16:00

Another vote for crocs worn with a nice pair of clean socks. Incredibly comfortable and last forever, come in any colour you could wish and you can pep them up with some shoe charms if desired (there are some really pretty and cute ones to suit every interest)

Gingerteabaghag · 07/10/2026 17:08

DD18 wear fur lined Crocs, shes not here today so I've been wearing them and just about to order myself some, comfy as hell.

AlwaysSometimesNever · 07/10/2026 19:34

I like a Moshulu slipper. They do look a bit frumpy but the rubber sole is great and they last ages.
Whrn deep in winter I have a pair of Celtic sheepskin house boots. Dear but I’m only on my second pair in 16 years.

Holdthemayo · 07/10/2026 20:41

My Mary Jane woollen slippers from Moshulu might fit the bill . They are 3 maybe 4 years old and wash and refresh perfectly. X

Camel bladder slippers.
I know it's not politically acceptable any more but you can still purchase in Egypt. You will never experience anything more comfortable as genuine camel bladder as they mould around your feet (although they will be cut and tailored as is tradition).

Why wouldnt they be politically acceptable? What does this even mean?

OP slippers are quite dangerous by the way, cause a lot of household slips and falls.
