Men hanging around children's playparks

There seems to have been a rash of these on my local FB. Posts full of outrage (?) Fear (?) about men, usually with dark skin, loitering near play parks.

My first reaction is FGS live and let live you nasty racists, but there have been so many I'm now wondering if either they're made up, or there is something untoward. Why are men hanging around in groups by a playpark?

Or was my first guess right?

Tbh it should go without saying that kid’s playgrounds inside parks should be centred around children and their adults and adults without children should just stay the hell away. During family splash sessions at my local swimming pool there is also a strict rule of no adults allowed in the pool area at that time UNLESS accompanied by a child and the swimming pool staff do enforce it luckily.

Some cultures consider girls marriageable at an age when they would be playing in a playground.

Unfortunately there are some people who hang around outside schools who have no kids there whatsoever, what a world we live in.

Yes, there’s a group of black men in my town who congregate on the park and it being a small town, they’re often very close to the play park area, but as far as I know they’ve done nothing wrong so 🤷‍♀️Doesn’t stop the racists the thing about them on the local Facebook page though.

I think as a culture traditionally we are more used to men gathering in groups to socialise in pubs and betting shops out of sight Perhaps these fictional men don’t drink or gamble

So what is the solution? All men must have a chaperone?

Why?

I have to walk through a park to get to/from work and I sit by the playpark all the time.

It has the best seating.

my dh is trying to get fit, he walks 5 miles a day, is he banned from the nature reserve for being a man? Think about how silly that sounds!

Men could stop raping women and children?

I meant realistically. Otherwise men will just keep walking alone….

And women will keep avoiding them, I'm not sure what point you're trying to make?

That makes two of us.

Women & girls are statistically most likely to be assaulted by men they know or are related to.. unfortunately not many people like to tell their daughters that they need to be the most cautious with the men they are closest to!!

I’m more aware than most of how dangerous men be. However, wtf am I supposed to do with dozens of “Beware! Man was walking on the street! Wearing jeans and jacket. I never thought this would happen here!!!!!! I’m shaken !!!!!!!!!” Sometimes with or without Middle Eastern/ Eastern European looking, or if not in the post, it appears in the comments.

He could’ve been following, but he actually wasn’t as he continued walking after she crossed the street and went on her way. Didn’t approach, say anything, sped up or anything. So what actually “happened” here now?

I just don’t think that’s true. Birmingham police are currently investigating 98 cases of child sexual abuse - young girls targeting by six Pakistani grooming gangs.
These grooming gangs have been operating since at least the 1990s and our authorities tried really hard to turn a blind eye and not to engage - because they didn’t want to be perceived as racist or rock the boat and whip up hatred.

I do indeed, but there is a particular problem with Pakistani men behaving this way that she needs to be aware of. White British men aren’t known for targeting young girls, plying them with vodka and taking them to Travelodges to abuse them.

I must have imagined the many white grooming gangs then, who target young girls too.

Please can you share those stats? I believe you are entirely wrong but I am happy to be corrected. I’ve never heard of organised gangs of grown white men targeting young teenage girls and sexually abusing them?

Because white men never hang around kids parks, and never did. 🙄

Fwiw, we were flashed by a man as kids. Sitting at our desks at school, and a man broke into our school gardens and took his trousers and underwear off, and just smiled at us. He wasn't "dark skinned".

abuse being investigated in Birmingham currently, perpetrated by six gangs, all Pakistani.

Also - the authorities have no problem investigating white gangs and ensuring justice is served. No one wanted to investigate or report the Pakistani gangs which is why the problem persisted (and persists) for such a long time. Local councils and police were frightened of being seen as racist.
