I'm happy to pay my £2.99 a month to read here ad free but I wouldn't pay any more than that.

We’re the content not the consumer why would anyone pay for the privilege? Besides if MN charged they’d have to actually sort out their website to make it less shit to use.

This exactly. The only reason Mumsnet has so many page views, and so can command the millions in sponsorships and ad revenue they get, is because of the thousands of users posting in the various channels.

It's already been made abundantly clear that they'll happily throw their users under the bus by serving us ads that contain viruses, scams, porn and other unsavoury crap. I've got no loyalty whatsoever to Mumsnet as a company, it's only the other users here who keep me coming back.

Some years ago I’d often find myself pleasantly surprised and entertained by the brilliance and wit of some posters; now, rarely.
So much of the wit and cleverness has been replaced by sneeriness.

Yup. So many of the old posters who really created engaging, witty and insightful content and made this place what it is (and used to be) have gone.

Not a penny. Nowadays it seems to be lots of made up shit, AI, or people being bitchy and rude. Why would I want to pay for that?

I pay for premium, I used to hate all the ads, which I no longer get. And, I think Mumsnet can provide a valuable service for some, women in particular who need support in abusive relationships etc., and if my payment helps to support the platform, I consider it money well spent.

Same. The absolutely pathetic reaction to the CSA images posted overnight, plus the absolute refusal to moderate the site properly overnight means I have no loyalty to MN as a brand at all. I use it because it’s free and convenient. If it was no longer free or convenient, I wouldn’t bother.

Why do you only ask questions? Are you a journalist writing articles and gleaning information from mumsnetters?

Nothing. In fact, my mental health would probably be a lot better for getting off Mumsnet, which I would certainly do if they started charging for it. Anything which requires a subscription is an instant turn-off for me.

MN is not an online newspaper / magazine. The business model is fundamentally different.

We, the users, generate the content, not professional journalists who have to be paid salaries. Therefore the ‘price’ of using MN is allowing the site to monetise our attention by serving up adverts to us. The advertisers are MN’s customers, so they pay. We are not MN’s customers, so we don’t.

No, I avoid all subscriptions that fall into the entertainment category. I accept adverts as necessary to fund the site. I'd go somewhere else if MN became subscription only.

I wouldn't pay. I'd stop using it and would hopefully, find more time again to read books.

I would set up a free alternative that would be add free too! Not everything is money

I wouldn't pay anything for Mumsnet as there's far to much arguments, fake posts and false information. I would happily pay for a site which didn't allow any sort of my negative points.
