Came home to find my pear tree stripped bare overnight

Returned home to find my pear tree (back garden) stripped clean. No sign of any on the ground or anywhere nearby. I am gutted!!!! It was my best ever crop and those pears were a thing of beauty. Any ideas if any bird or animal could have done this is such an efficient and successful way?

I live on a small holding and we have had a lot of human thieves in the last 3 years. Potatoes, eggs, all our soft fruit. We have CCTV and images of the people stealing but the Police aren't interested. Even when they tried to steal a sheep they were just obsessively checking we hadn't threatened them or done anything to upset the thieves! We did find a way to put a stop to it but I know another woman who's just had 8 hens stolen.

That's awful, police more concerned about the thieves!

Birds , squirrels ? Not the same but I have a massive cherry tree and by massive I mean over a 3 store house height . Cherries all vanished while we visited a friend for 2 days . All ! Not a single one to be seen

A squirrel took all our pears this year. Never happened before. Watched it coming back and forth taking them away one by one over the last 2 weeks. Daughter filmed it trying to bury some in the garden pots too.

We have a huge pear tree in oOur garden . The pears usually drop of and go in the compost bin. Squirrels take some but lots are taken by pigeons . This year I have watched huge crows in the tree picking them. They then fly off with them and often drop them all over the back garden . We do find half chewed pears in the front garden too so they seem to share them around 😂

Why do you say not deer? I've had apple trees stripped overnight by deer, they're very efficient and tidy.

I think OP thought no deer due to access but the birds clearly dropped a scramble net over the wall to let them be part of the ground invasion

@SpeckleDust I had a squirrel last year that regularity robbed a pear off the tree early morning. I bear him no malice as we tend to give a lot of our pears away as no one likes them except me.

We've has squirrels clear an entire fig tree whilst we were away for 1 night, hundreds of fruit, wouldn't have believed it if not for cameras! So that would be my guess 🤷🏻‍♀️

My small pear tree got stripped of all 12 pears last night. Pretty sure it was badgers. We've video footage of them breaking into a shed and getting the lid off a metal bin containing bird food despite it being held down by a bungee. They are also partial to raspberries, gooseberries and blackcurrants.

Those invasive green parrots 🦜 are well know for stripping fruit trees in a few hours. Some orchard farmers are now allowed to shoot them as pests. What part of UK are you in?

I think a lot of wildlife have been really desperate following the drought. The ground is still really dry beneath the top 3 cm and lots of animals are having to adapt. There’s also very little ground water still.

We saw a squirrel stripping our quince tree and they aren’t even ripe yet! First time we’ve seen it this year.

We used to have a quince tree in the front garden and I came home from work to find it completely stripped of fruit. I was fuming. Also my next door neighbour just helped herself to my mint and rosemary. Apparently the previous owner used to let her. Permission has been revoked!

Somebody stripped my lovely plum tree one Saturday morning after id gone shopping.
Went out about 11-30am returned about 3-30 . Neighbours said that they'd seen these two older men go into my garden but didn't challenge them because they were very confident and didn't try to hide what they were doing.....the kids were devastated!
