Is it horrible to make ds walk

Am I horrible making ds walk for 40 mins to and from school because I want to avoid the bus?

No one has said a child can't walk for 40 minutes.
They've raised that it may become too much, twice a day, every day, come whatever weather, for both the child and the op who will be walking 160 minutes a day until he can walk by himself, which may not be for a very long time. Not many people have the time to commit to doing that five times a week, it's simply not practical.
