Who is the most despicable human in the world right now?

Putin has definitely achieved classic brand status now - he ticks all the boxes. Psychotic, dead-eyed, quite mysterious, terrified of being assassinated, paranoid, completely sociopathic etc.

However, as with all established products, there are mid-market copycats like Trump and to a lesser extent Farage. (Because he’s only 2 bit although no less evil).

Then there are the Temu evil villains- the ones who walk among us peddling vile things on the dark web, scamming us, exploiting vulnerable people and resources and committing DV in homes around the world.

So it’s impossible really to pick purely one.

One of the many ancient men who seem, inexplicably, to wield huge amounts of power despite having irredeemable personality and capability flaws. Take your farken pick.

We were asked to name the worst. You ridiculed a poster who named Trump, Musk and Putin.
Certainly I would not disagree with including those you mention above.
But I would also include Trump Musk and Putin.
Abusers of position. Men in significant positions of power who use it not for good, but for bad. Who have caused the deaths of many. Who have decidedly sat back and not intervened when they could stop a war. Who have started one. And with Iran made an unstable country probably more aggressive and hostile. Who have caused peoples businesses and jobs chaos. Who have proactively sought to remove democracy not uphold it.

Evil must be in and of itself though. It's not an easy question. Perhaps you can't judge on numbers alone. Is Ian Huntley less of an evil person than Putin?

Yes Trump manages to squat his fat bum in the middle of the Venn diagram between both evil and deeply stupid - this is of concern to us all!

Obviously there is no right answer, but there are a lot of people (almost all men) who have deeply malign intent, poor impulse control and very low empathy.

Most of them have little power beyond their immediate circle (but I feel tremendous sympathy for those unable to escape that circle). Men who abuse their partners or kids. Horrible, angry, disgusting men.

Some of them have obtained power in their jobs or politically, and can exert their making influence over far more people than way. Some are obviously able to exert it over millions.

I think in this group there are people like Trump, Putin, Netanyahu, Kim Jong Un. The scale of what they've actually done with their power is one thing, but I think what unites them is that, unchecked, they'd all be as bad as the worst one is in reality. Trump would send people to re-education camps and execute people on the spot like Kim does if he could. Luckily the USA legal system won't let him.

And then there are men who acquire enormous influence and power through wealth, and use it for evil. Peter Thiel, Elon Musk, the AI people.

They're all as evil as each other. They all have evil in common.

Can't just be the amount of misery caused by itself, there would need to be intent and, imo, pleasure from your evil actions.

So if someone accidentally caused the death of loads of people and was grief stricken by it, they wouldn't win.

Could one argue that the CEO of a tobacco company or oil company is most evil? Or the head of one of the drug cartels in South America? Someone causing the chaos in Haiti or Sudan? A pirate off Somalia?

No, don’t let him off the hook by saying he doesn’t know full well what he is about. He does. Certainly there are people behind the scenes. Steve Bannon was on in his early years. But so arguably was his ex wife.

But Farage is not "evil" if you judge him on his actions (which must be the only way). He hasn't killed one person let alone millions. He hasn't ordered anyone to murder anyone. He is only an MP for a party not in power.

Im not particularly keen on Farage but its a bit silly (IMO) to include him on the list of the most evil people in the world when we see the evil carried out these days. People just don't agree with him politically and these days people seem unfortunately unable to disagree with political views without hating the person who has them.

Another one up for consideration could be Xi bearing in mind his persecution of the Uighurs

the thing is, if you look at serial killers, the majority of them have been created or shaped by their own trauma - statistically most of the traditional serial killer types were victims of neglect and childhood abuse themselves. It doesn’t make what they did ok, but it does point to their acts not being committed in isolation - there’s a reason they are the way they are, and that’s not a reason of their making.

Dictators, on the other hand, are driven by greed and lust for power. There’s no mitigation for that.

Anyone who shits a dead animal out their arse and denies the horrific conditions their victims live in and are ok with their dinner waiting silently in a kill line to get its throat slit.

But since you do, I don’t trust the man one bit. He is not the answer to any problems we have. He is out of the same book as Trump. A sort of Trump ‘light’.

Wouldn’t you say that his inventions that he’s created using his wealth are for good? He’s trying to use his technology for the future humanity. He’s using those ideas to try help global challenges that we have and prolong mankind. There are probably millions of contenders as evil takes many forms.
To me, right now, Trump, Putin and Kim Jong Un, Netanyahu and the leaders of the Taliban would take that title. But I know there are many people around the world in unfathomable circumstances where someone else is causing them misery and to whom they would be the most evil.
