I didn’t say protests should be illegal. Of course they shouldn’t. I said this one was. It was. There’s a legal framework for protests involving numbers of people which involves getting permission and alerting the police so they can keep it safe. There is no loophole - except them saying;g it was ‘spontaneous’ which is frankly unbelievable given the same dress, maps, arriving together in vans etc. it’s a lie. I’m sure you can see that.

What usually happens is we get the "but what about all the white UK men who commit rape, murder etc when people have concerns about immigrants. That has been said quite a few times by posters on the Starmer/Burnham threads.

I haven't seen it said in that way. What I see is people whose concern is about violence against women and girls committed by any man, without focusing on origin or ethnicity. If it's wrong - and it is - then is doesn't matter who is committing the crime.

And what I'm seeing here is a lot of apologist waffle about the Dover marchers, without acknowledging that these are men from a demographic that is statistically likely to have a higher than population average for having a record of violence against women and girls. That is probably why they were wearing masks - so that they couldn't be identified and shown for what they are.

It’s a failing of the system for those crimes to occur. And a failing of the gov to not change it. It’s a basic duty.

It probably will change at some point as voters put pressure on. Maybe not U.K. first, perhaps Germany or France.

This was a peaceful protest despite their intimidating look. They did not advertise their protest as they didnt want rent a thugs joining in I gather. Yes they did disrupt traffic for a couple of hours then they moved away and left Dover. It was a protest about the boats mainly. I live in Dover and we often get protesters but these were respectful to police and made their point before going.

Why did they feel the need to dress in an intimidating way and mask up? Did anyone ask them?

Knowledge and agreement are two different things. You know there is a difference between naming victims, feeling sorry for what happened to them and using them politically to tar a whole demographic.

It’s probably better to have a system that vets. I don’t see why anyone should be a victim to uphold this system.

It’s dangerous, chaotic and has downsides here and with people travelling. Usually to women and girls, whether it’s on the way, on boats or here.

Numbers started decreasing towards the end of the Tory government it is continuing to do so.

There is a system. Sometimes people slip through it. It’s terrible. But you can’t blame all asylum seekers or stop helping anyone because of it.
