Farage is supposed to be giving a speech at the Reform conference, but due to "unforseen circumstances" there is some sort of delay/problem...

Did the wheels fall off his bus?

placemats · 04/09/2026 17:49

Canal boat owners in Birmingham have had it up to here with the chants of "We will stop the boats".

Efacsen · 04/09/2026 18:01

More delusional nonsense from Farage

Farage says Reform UK will stop the small boats by declaring a national emergency, forcing parliament to sit 24 hours a day, six days a week, until its legislation is enforced.
He is now threatening peers in the House of Lords, saying he will pack the upper chamber with hundreds of new peers to push Reform UK’s plans through.
If needed, Reform UK will call a referendum on the composition of the House of Lords, he says.
He’s now threatening the civil service, saying they will be replaced if they do not comply with the policies of a Reform government.

TemperanceWest · 04/09/2026 18:05

Note he doesn't explain what that legislation would be.

Well it's not like his base care. Or, being snarky, could even spell "legislation". Let alone what it means.

It's hard not to feel there is a rising note of hysteria from some parts of Reform. Possibly because if rumours are true, Farage has to do more to keep existing Reformers on board, than actually attract new ones.

Still, we now can make some educated guesses as to Kemis showstopping policies ...

Talking of SPaG. My mum was a teacher - predominantly year 6 so did a lot of SATs. When my dad did her eulogy he started off saying he’s sure if she was here she’d be looking at his (written) speech and criticising his SPaG 😂

Ive been busy at work and sorting dinner. Need to catch up properly but I’m enjoying the snippets I’m getting of the Reform downfall.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 04/09/2026 18:58

Off topic - but I'm sad to see that Richard O'Sullivan has died. I met him a couple of times after performances at Brinsworth House and he came across as a genuinely nice bloke.

No one here will believe me I’m sure, when I say I used to teach literacy! I’ve a terrible style on here - and worse on text - I love the em dash and I know I use it too liberally and incorrectly.

I did though feel that one of the exams we put adults through - funding purposes - on their way to getting Functional Skills 1 or 2 was just dire and pointless - semi colon use. I debated this with centre manager and was told I must just coach them through - not my idea of re-engaging adults in education at all. I left later that year and this was actually one of the reasons.

Having said all that I have been known to delete OLD prospects who spell really badly - quite poor of me but some things grate and I’m too old to be patient with dates!

MsJinks · 04/09/2026 19:06

Farage is beyond ridiculous now - it wouldn’t happen how he says - it can’t.

He doesn’t understand the Civil Service either - I used to work there too and not a huge fan but neutrality applying government policy was a big part. Though by god I would hope enough would rebel!

Anyway I do now expect this to all be a never event so that’s good.

Edited for SPaG 🙈🤣

pointythings · 04/09/2026 19:53

Thank you for keeping me posted on Farage's insane ravings. I've been in the kitchen painting DD's head with the latest hair art project - photos once it has cooked and rinsed.

ThatbloodyRoblox · 04/09/2026 20:48

Just popping in to say Farage was on NF this morning ( I don’t listen to him but saw a clip) he couldn’t have distanced himself more from the shit. He called his 2 fellas contractors despite that Dan fella being around for ages!
Also for those who have missed the Nads she was on C4 news tonight with Krish and it went exactly how you would imagine. 🫣

Apparently Jenrick thinks he will be Prime Minister, to be fair it would definitely be a National Emergency if either of them became PM

Will we, the British public, get a national emergency alert when each bill is passed?

Zonder · 05/09/2026 04:45

I know they just ramble on with no basis in reality but how would NF call a national emergency if RJ was PM? Wouldn't that be his job?

I know we are supposed to get carried along with their statements about being PM but actually they just make me laugh.

Does that include Nigel? His parliamentary attendance record is not something to write home about.

Morning. I need to pay some back tax Starting with this pic of a lovely sky last night.

Considering Farage has spent about 24 hours in Clacton and Parliament combined all year I take this with a pinch of salt!

Evenstar · 05/09/2026 08:00

😂@placemats imagine the number of threads on Mumsnet about emergency alerts, most of them didn’t think it was enough of an emergency the other week when the whole country was at risk of wildfires. Perhaps if Nigel or BJ did it they wouldn’t mind.

DuncinToffee · 05/09/2026 08:04

This is horrific

Content warning:

Multiple men violently assault a female protester at Reform's conference at the Birmingham NEC, to the visible delight of Nigel Farage.

Evenstar · 05/09/2026 08:07

@DuncinToffee that’s appalling and wasn’t visible on the news footage last night. I hope assault charges can be brought.

BIossomtoes · 05/09/2026 08:22

That’s absolutely shocking. What disgusting excuses for human beings they are. 🤢

PickAChew · 05/09/2026 08:23

This is one of things where you hope, for the sake of that woman, that this is AI.

TemperanceWest · 05/09/2026 08:24

Why on earth do they think it is OK to grab her face and pull her hair? Farage grinning away.

pointythings · 05/09/2026 08:41

This is who they are. The veneer of civilisation adjacence is one molecule thin.

Meanwhile hair art as promised.
