Microalgae bloom knocks out most of Israel’s desalination plants | CNN

Let me feed this into my Trump Logic emulator that I have running on a commodore 64.

Take it away Trump emulator :

" Algae, reflecting pool, terror attack ?, wonder if Natalie will wear her stockings tonight.... hmmm, Melania is too old... IRAN ATTACKED MY POOL AND THAT ISRAEL WATER THING... Kegsbreath is so gay, need to fix that bald patch on my head. Ohh.. Truth Social. Natalie, stop sucking that and come up here to do aTruth. IRAN DONE TERROR ATTACK ON MY REFLECTING POOL".

Sorry for the score throughs. I have not managed to program any filters into my Trump emulator yet.

Miles-long microalgae bloom knocks out most of Israel’s desalination plants | CNN

Mediterranean microalgae has been blamed for temporarily shutting five of Israel’s six coastal desalination plants, threatening its main source of drinking water.

I am pleased to report that Michael Cohen, the Prosecution's Star Witness and, in actuality, only Witness in the New York State Attorney General and Manhattan DA Witch Hunt Cases brought against me, has just fully RECANTED his testimony. He was "pressured" and "coerced" to say things that were not true. I would like to thank Michael for having the Wisdom and Courage to step forward and do the right thing! His Act of Bravery is a Great Credit to the Justice System in New York City and State. I am sure it was not easy for him! Now we are asking that any remnant of those Politically Weaponized Cases against me be immediately terminated and dismissed. Their Star Witness said everything they did was WRONG and UNLAWFUL! Letitia James and Alvin Bragg broke the Law in order to do this in order to prevent me from becoming the President of the United States. Such a thing can never be allowed to happen again! Thank you for your attention to this matter. President DONALD J. TRUMP"

Re 9/11. I might have written about this before, but we were living nearby and it had a profound effect on my family - I won't bore people with the long story of the day and the aftermath, and it's a hard story to tell without being outing. It was horrific and I actually suspect there are a lot of families who are pleased the orange anusmouth won't be in NY.

I actually hate that memorial so much, but I seem to be alone in that. I hate that it's basically a giant retail centre and shopping mall and I hate that pool - it resembles what I imagine the entry to the gates of hell look like. I try my best to avoid it when we're there.

I think you’re perfectly entitled to feel anyway you want to about the Memorial. When I was there it was still a construction site, the museum wasn’t quite ready to open and I remember barriers everywhere so can’t comment on the shopping mall aesthetic.

I understand what you mean about the pools, for me its the names that are incredibly moving.

I read about the Flight 93 memorial, it sounds very understated and empathetic.

I agree the names are moving. I just hate the pool.

Yes, Westfield World Trade Center, the largest retail outlet in Manhattan. To be fair, there was a mall under the trade centers before 9/11, but this feels tasteless to me.

Adding that I haven't been to the PA memorial, but I do have a friend who lost a relative on that plane.

As tasteless as the mall is, what they have done with the Hudson shore is really good
making the old piers into a park is a good thing

I like the memorial but utterly support your right to loathe it.

I did not know anybody who died but that was purely due to an airline crew roster change.

Well, if he has it certainly isn't a major topic on the news. And it would be.

Per Mediaite

"The president, however, seized on Cohen’s claim, first made in a January Substack article, that he felt coerced by prosecutors pursuing cases against his former boss, casting it as an admission that Cohen “just fully RECANTED” his testimony".

https://www.mediaite.com/online/trump-claims-michael-cohen-recanted-testimony-his-ex-fixer-recentlycalled-truthful-and-accurate/

But it certainly appears from this article that Cohen is sucking up and trying to get back into Scrotus' good graces.

I agree about the Hudson shore. They've done an excellent job with the greening of the whole west side of lower Manhattan.

I guess there's always a huge element of luck with events like that. We know a firefighter who happened to be ill that day and they lost a shocking number from his ladder company. While obviously grateful to have been spared, the psychological effects of not having been there were, and continue to be, incredibly difficult for him.

Ok, enough 9/11 from me.

I recently enjoyed a little levity on a Bulwark chat where they were picking the worst cabinet members. Spoiled for choice.

A friend of ours who is American used to work in one of the towers for a law firm. He moved to the UK a few weeks before and was working in one of the magic circle firms. He asked to go home on the day because he was understandably finding it hard to concentrate on work. They said no. He found a new job very quickly.
DHs brother was meant to be in a breakfast meeting in the restaurant at the top but unknown to his wife there had been a late change of plan and he saw the second plane hit from a nearby building but couldn't get through to let anyone know he was ok until about 9pm UK time. I remember taking DS2 to cubs and letting them know I may need to get a friend to collect him.

SerendipityJane · 06/09/2026 18:36

I was working in financial software when 9/11 happened. Two of our directors knew (had worked, with, I believe) people in the towers who died.

When the news about the Pentagon aircraft started coming out, I had a moment of fear for DB. He was working at Oak Ridge laboratory and a frequent flier to the Pentagon for various things. When I finally got to speak to him (old school) he said his team were watching it unfold on the BBC (it was apparently scientists preferred news source).

And then when 7/7 happened, I had a pang of worry about my youngest DB who travelled around London a lot.

Deepest sympathies to all and everyone who has lost someone to terror.

Isn't that from January ?

AcrossthePond55 · 06/09/2026 19:14

To add to others' recollections, l was at work on the West Coast. We watched the final tower fall in our break room then were shooed back to our desks to begin our workday. About 9am PDT the manager and supervisors began going desk to desk and whispering "terminate your interview, and close your work station, we are being evacuated". It wasn't until we were all gathered outside that we were told that all federal offices nationwide were closing 'as a precaution' and we were sent home. It was business as usual the next day.

Many people suggested changing the name of New Mexico, one of the great vote cheating states of all time, to NEW AMERICA. So much more prestigious and beautiful for the people of that potentially incredible State. Wow, I Love It!!! President DONALD J. TRUMP

There is a vid attached, but I can't view it.

He is gonna need a bigger sharpie.
