You leave Paddington out of this!

What has Paddington done?

"It's called a hard stare. My aunt taught me to do them when people had forgotten their manners."

I can't stand Richard E Grant. All the grinning and name dropping.

I second this - when I was late teens I did a solo trip to find all of the places in The Odyssey and I really would love to see them on the show he presented. I only got as far as him grinning and leaning on something in the title picture on catch-up before I realised I would rather keep my memories. Left the tab open for 2 days but just couldn't bring myself to do it.

Wow! I mean this is already verging on heresy...if the Treasures weren't "treasures" would we like them or is it just the nomination (whose btw?) that makes them hateful? Mark Gatiss was genius in league of gentlemen for e.g...

Mark Gatiss is someone I’ve met a number of times and spent decent chunks of time with. He is one of the nicest people I’ve met! He is also clever and can be acerbic, but is always kind and funny. I guess this proves that you can’t judge people you’ve never met, which is why I’m always baffled about people here and elsewhere on line who profess hatred for well-known people.

With you on cliff. Urgh.

Oh yes of course - how could we forget Cliff ? Number one “non” National Treasure. Agree - Urgh !

Womanofcustard · 29/08/2026 19:45

Elton John

Middlemarch123 · 29/08/2026 19:46

Elton John

BassBug · 29/08/2026 19:46

Elton John gives me hives. Ben Elton - unfunny, shouty gobshite, Stacey Solomon - vacuous and drippy.

IButtleSir · 29/08/2026 19:47

I'm going to join the chorus of people who have already said Stephen Fry. Glad it's not just me!

Lorraine Kelly.
When I buy the December issue of Good Housekeeping,I have to pray that she isn't on the cover doing her ' head thrown back big laughing grin'

No you are not
There's an advert ( clothes) and every time she's in shot it's a " oh that is so hilarious, laugh laugh, laugh" .
Just no

Also saying Stephen Fry, I worked an event he was at years ago, he was unbelievably rude.

Tom Daley

Lulu…. She fucking wrecks me! I specifically picked a date for an Elton John Concert many years ago because the poster said she wasn’t there and then lo and behold….. waaaaaaay ay ay!!! - You know you make me wanna…. Slit my wrists!!!!

Stephen Graham should not be on this thread, imo. I don't know him, but he comes across as decent, and genuine to me.

I think the problem with Stephen Graham is that he is always required to play men who are victimised/traumatised by the ideals of working class masculinity - men who are sensitive and vulnerable but who can't express that because of their manly man manning culture. It's so samey and so pontificating.

It's not his fault - it's just what he's hired for.

KatStratford · 29/08/2026 19:50

I have to defend Mark Gatiss! He just did a production of Brecht’s Arturo Ui at the RSC that was magnificent. Forget National Treasure, for that alone he should be declared a UNESCO World Heritage site.
(If this production gets a second run in London, beg, steal or borrow to see it!!!)

Tom Daley

I forgot to add him to my previous list, but I completely agree.

UnpopularOpinionsIWouldUsuallyKeepToMyself · 29/08/2026 19:51

Well, I'm surprised by the fact I have agreed with pretty much everyone, even though I think Mark Gatiss is a genius, and has been so, in everything he has ever done, I sort of do see why others might think that of him. But more surprisingly, I don't agree with Jamie Oliver. I did, until I saw the video for The Jamie Oliver Petrol Station and decided he must be sort of alright to do that. I like people who can take the mick out of themselves.

Paul McCartney.🫣

Maybe not so much now,(I know, I know, very talented) but I hated the period of time when it seemed every major concert had to end with McCartney!

’No it really isn’t all about you, Paul!’ 😆 ( well maybe, it is….😂)

Six pages in to find this......

Can't stand Paul McCartney
or
Rod Stewart

Lievre · 29/08/2026 19:51

Elaine Paige

Not sure she’s national treasure level but seems popular for some reason I can’t fathom out …. Amanda Holden 😂
