She's a nepo baby? Are you sure? Her parents were actors but I don't think that alone makes her a nepo baby. They weren't especially successful or well connected AFAIK.

I read somewhere that they got her ‘seen’. Her mum is reasonably successful

but it seems rare that actors don’t have a connection that opens the door a notch for them. Then they seem baffled that others haven’t the same - that’s why they object to their kids being called nepo babies!

We live in a democracy, we have to trust the public to make decisions to some degree though.

All the swearing? I never know why she's invited on talk shows so much. She is a good actress but her horrible talk show appearances have ruined her films for me.

Her grandparents owned and ran a theatre and she went to a private secondary school that specialised in acting and getting you an agent.

I liked her at the start - her first wedding was very unshowy and she seemed reasonably level headed. That seems to have changed over the years.

I see : like you I had liked her previously as she seemed more down to earth, and I agree that's changed.
I'm not sure going to the school means they were necessarily that financially well off though : googling, articles say it was funded with acting charity grants as well as her own acting work, and she left post GCSEs as they couldn't pay any more. Definitely having acting in the family would give an extra advantage in at least some ways, though.

I see, agree re French. I'm not sure how much agency the public have in who does the news or whether they fell for Bruce's shtick exactly. French used to be funny imo but isn't now.

if a lawyer gets his kid work experience with a lawyer friend everyone thinks it’s terrible nepotism but somehow when it comes to acting it seems to be accepted

its Natural for kids to follow their parents as it’s what they’ve been brought up to know and value but some nepo babies are dreadful and it shouldn’t have been allowed! I’m thinking Giles coren here

Yes, Coren is awful. I do like his sister though.
Nepotism is an issue everywhere, I suppose maybe it receives less attention in acting because it's seen as less essential than stuff like law, medicine etc but that doesn't mean nepotism in it is OK.

i Think there is a genetic component to why you see kids following their parents career - it’s not just nepotism

in acting there is so much competition so it’s sad to see a terrible nepo baby on screen when a truly talented actor is serving tables somewhere waiting for their big break

Yes, I agree if they can't hit the notes it's wrong, that's not ageist. I can think of some singers who retained good voices at older ages but I think it's probably especially difficult for that to be the case with rock and other genre singers who strained their voices for years
