Anyone else feeling sad about summer ending and autumn beginning?

Is anyone else sad that summer is ending? I’ve really embraced the sunny days this year, I find the summer mornings spur me on, and have explored the outdoors a lot with my children.
I’m feeling pretty sad now that summer is over and it’ll soon be dark mornings, back to school and all that jazz. Don’t get me wrong once I adapt I do love autumn and winter. But I hate letting go of summer.
Anyone else?

My friends have this set up in their garden but they have - somehow - got wireless headphones linked into it so there’s no noise.

Yes mine could do that too. I can also position the screen (which is the size of middling TV, not drive in proportions!) so it's not visible to anyone looking out of windows if I wanted to watch something that I wouldn't want the neighbours kids to look out and see.

I get really bad hayfever so can't dry my washing outside in Spring and summer as I allergic to all pollen be it tree, grass, weed or flower. And of course it's too cold and wet the rest of the year. Before I developed hay fever i used to love the smell of line dried laundry

I understand your feelings OP and I have felt that way in previous years. This year I feel cheated out of summer. Ive really suffered with the excessive heat and some weeks have barely left the house, when I have I've sought out air conditioned buildings. I'm sure M and S cafe profits have improved due to my contributions. So I've missed the days when it's been over 25° C by being inside and there has been a lot of them for us.

I know what you mean OP, I've had a lovely summer with the kids (with a couple of weeks working in the middle) and feeling quite sad it's coming to an end. Oh well, Halloween soon 😆

Yes. I have a sinking feeling in my heart as I hate winter. There's a weird leak in one part of the roof that happens in torrential rain and wind and the council have turned the streetlights off and down so I won't go out after 7pm. I miss orange streetlights.

I always get a twinge at this time of year. It's not 'just' the end of summer but new beginnings too. My second child is starting secondary this week, time is passing so quickly.

However this summer has been too much - we managed to be away in cooler places for two of the major heatwaves but still struggled. The weather thwarted lots of plans (most of the free and cheap stuff in London is outside or you need to use public transport to get to and being outside / being on the Tube or bus was unbearable some days here!!) The weather completely floored us for a lot of summer. We've been quite demotivated and lazy.

Looking forward to being able to do stuff!!

I’m sad that winter is ending and spring is about to begin. The return of hot weather. It was 23C today. It will be 32C and 33C within two days. Back to the endless drone of pedestal fans and air conditioning, and sweating.

Don't get those cosy jumpers out too soon, autumn people - September usually brings a final burst of summer heat as a parting shot 😉🕶

As a winter born baby I love the Spring and Summer. As long as Autumn is mainly mellow, I'm happy. Winter is a form of lockdown to me. However Spring does follow Winter so I keep that in mind.

Yes I feel the same op. I feel sad that it’s over, I've loved this summer. The thought of dark nights and no sun for months on end fills me with dread

I love the heat and dread the cold dark mornings, especially when I am up at 5.30 to sort the horse out but even so, I am always pleased when summer draws to a close as it is my worst season for any sort of productivity. It just feels so aimless even when I am working. I am quite task orientated so I think the rhythm of autumn, winter, spring helps me achieve more. I just drift about in the summer and I hate it. Do like the sun though and will head to Thailand at some point over winter :-)

I hate it every year!

The end of August and September when its really noticeable the days are getting shorter is a difficult adjustment for me. (And then again when the clocks go back) I didnt like the 35° + weather but (for me) a lot of the summer has been lovely. I love long light evenings, not as
Keen on it being light at 3.45am though!

But yeah I find it depressing later in the year, leaving the house in the dark in the morning and it being dark when I finish work. I run and get bored with being confined to pavements and suburban roads in the winter. (Although i appreciate im fortunate to live somewhere safe to run all year round)

I was sorry it chucked it down for our first school run of the new term, what a welcome back! I feel silly to moan because I also didn't enjoy the extreme heat of summer. I'd like ordinary, 15-20 degree days where I don't have to think about sun cream, hats, fans, wellies or waterproofs.

This summer has been too hot. There are only two things I'll miss about it, Drying washing outside and bootsales 😂

Lucky you. It’s always shit here, I hate it, so depressing. If I could afford to move I would. I’m dreading the coming months 😢.

Im worried that climate change mean we will likely have hotter, drier summers and wetter winters.

Call me fussy but I despise months of wet grey weather that seemed to have been common in recent years (lots of threads about it, sometimes posters try to infer we are imagining it but the met office and farmers are noticing wetter winters) ....even most of May was cool and dull this year and yhe first week of June also wasnt very warm. Then 2 months of sunny dry and mostly very hot weather.
It would be nicer to have some sun in all seasons and a bit of rain in summer. Rather than months and months of dull, rainy weather interspersed with a drought and heatwave!

Yeah, it's really NOT the same weather all year round... 🙄
