I’m planning for next summer already and interested in how much other people’s holidays cost to see what I can afford! I’ll go first

One person, £3,200 on a cruise for 31 days. Just need money for a coffee in each place. Going to Croatia for 5 days... among other places.

France. Campsite/ euro camp type place. 5 of us. £700 ferry, £1300 mobile home plus we’ll
spend about £1500 while here. We’re with family, kids love it, amazing value for us!

Our summer holiday was to a family beach hut in Devon for 4 days. Accommodation is free (passed down in the family, we all own it). We walked on the coast path, spent time at the beach, had BBQs. Cost about £150 in food and maybe £50 in fuel to get there, so say, £200 for 4 of us plus the dog.

Earlier in the year, dd and I went to Lanzarote for 3 nights. £550 for half board accommodation, £60x2 for taxi, £60 supermarket shop, £90 for flights, so maybe £800, which I think is quite a lot because of the accommodation. Normally, I get an Airbnb and don’t spend more than £90 a night. We’ve stayed some amazing places that don’t have to cost thousands. 😳

Gran canaria, 2 people, all inclusive, a week, no transfers (will get cab) £1385 but previously also spent £10k on the Maldives

Turkey for 2 weeks in July/August

Also had a bargain break with DH in June to Greece - £1k for a week SC with flights, £200 car hire and about £1k spending money.

Malaysia 12 days, 2 adults, 2 teens, just over £8k

Portugal.

Dh, me, 2 adult dc for 8 nights.
Self catering, lovely flat with private pool.
£6.2k total, including spending money and pet care.

We have used Trailfinders loads before generally they are great but for this Canada trip and one previous one to Scandinavia we were able to do similar much cheaper by booking ourselves where as other times (SE Asia and USA) the opposite was true. I think it is worth checking what they offer.

it was a lot but it was to celebrate 3 big events this year; also we went for longer than a usual holiday.

we do a big holiday every couple of years and camp in between; we also book ourselves so we can choose our own hotels that are not extortionate.

Thus is our pretty typical holiday budget - tend to find that a two week summer holiday costs us around £5k. Plus spending. We favour travel and self catering over a resort. .

It’s an alarmingly expensive place to eat, but we self-catered in week 2 so we made up for lots of eating out in Copenhagen.

It was one of the best family holidays we have had with a jam-packed week of sightseeing in week 1 and a more chilled week 2 with the water slides and wave pool in Lalandia, trips to Legohouse and Wow Park activity centre. Kids had a blast.

@Focusispower would love to know what other trips you’ve done! We sound similar in our approach to vacations.

this is the trip we’re planning for next year! Western Canada seems to be twice the price of eastern Canada and we’ve had some crazy expensive quotes from agents etc. Could I ask where you stayed as we’re looking for good value hotels. Thank you

200, for using in laws caravan to go to camping place about 100 miles from our home.

we were supposed to go to France on a more expensive holiday, but it was going to be too hot.

Thailand two weeks, 4 adults (well, DDs are 21 and 17). Flights & accommodation £5,600. Spent about £1500 on food, drinks and trips. Most meals were only £10 a head to eat out.

I'm coming to the end of 5.5 weeks in India travelling alone.

The pound goes very far here, so no expense spared on hotels.

I totaled last night, and it's been £5.5k all in. It could have been cheaper, but I wanted to enjoy the luxury.

Sri Lanka. With another adult but my half. 800 flight. 1200 for package of two weeks of good accommodation and a car and driver and entrance to places all in.
Then around 500 spending on food and tips. So 2500. It was amazing.

This year we did a two week Fijords and Northern Europe cruise with P&O two of us balcony cabin.
Including excursions about £4K, but I researched the excursions and booked direct with the providers which meant we saved approximately 50% compared to buying from ship.
Next year we are having a blow out trip to Canadian rockies and west coast including Rocky Mountaineer so that is going to be 12K all in - but is bucket list trip more glaciers, wild life including whale watching and price includes all of that.

it was more expensive than Ontario and Quebec which was our previous road trip, we also had eye watering quotes from travel agents hence planning it ourselves in the end. Gas is still very cheap compared to here though.
We booked flights in the BA sale and shopped around for car hire. Hotels booked up quick we found and many were booked out 10 months ahead in the Rockies.

we did mostly manage to all share a room to keep costs lower; the hotel in whistler was a self catering suite so that was fab.

overall it was brilliant and I’d recommend it.
