Evening all.

Well done at the dentist @FuzzyPuffling, did you get a sticker? 😁

Good luck with the new painkillers @TodayIsabetterone, hope they help.

Had a morning of housework here, then finished my book and took it back to the library and got a couple more. I'm very achy so also heading for an epsom salts bath soon.

MewithME · 11/09/2026 18:44

I feel really poorly so Im Very glad it's the weekend. In a lot of pain and I might be fighting something off because my throat is scratchy and DS has been the same. Work is ramping up so I need to go to bed and rest.

I have booked a haircut tomorrow and feel awful right now. I'll be charged the full whack if I don't go though so I'll have to try.

Sorry I've been quiet this week. Haven't managed to see how you all are. Love to all.

We must keep the epsom salt industry alive between us all I think 🤔 😆

Aw, @MewithME I'm sorry you're feeling so ropey. I hope a night's rest might improve things for you.
Have some 💐

TodayIsabetterone · 11/09/2026 20:11

Hope tomorrow is easier @MewithME 💐

bedfrog · 11/09/2026 21:16

Hope you get enough rest and recovery and can fight off whatever you're coming down with @MewithME

Does anyone else wish we had a whatsapp group or something? I often want to quit MN but still want to be on this thread.

JewelleryCat · 11/09/2026 21:47

I quite like the anonymity of MN, I don’t fancy giving people my phone number for a WhatsApp group, I prefer this thread even if I don’t comment very much

FuzzyPuffling · 12/09/2026 07:57

I've been in a couple of MN spin off WhatsApp groups and like them. We're able to be more open and individual. I've made some real friends, which is lovely.
So, @bedfrog I'm in.

Oh, and the original threads have carried on, so best of both worlds.

Not for me, @bedfrog . I would think it would change things a lot. I don't like WhatsApp groups at all. I can't cope with them pinging away. I feel this space we have here is gentle and we can breeze in and out safely according to how we feel.

It's up to you of course but it would probably change how our thread is too I think.

I've been on mn for 15 plus years. It's been an important place for me so despite the issues, I will stay here.

I was on the ME association discord for a bit but it's completely different to what we have. I would be sorry to lose this.

I'm in a lovely WhatsApp group that grew out of a support thread on MN about 10 years ago. I think lots of us are still here on MN as well.

@MewithME most of my WhatsApp groups have notifications turned off so I just check when I like.

TeaAndStrumpets · 12/09/2026 08:37

Sorry I'm a dinosaur and don't even have facebook! But hopefully can still meet and chat on here.

Slept for 8 hours which never seems to help the fatigue but I think 'unrefreshing sleep' is one of the symptoms! I know things are bad when I get adrenaline chest flutters but I know it's just another annoying symptom so I try to ignore them.

I've just accidentally taken an extra vit D3 tablet but hopefully it won't have any odd effect! I don't like dosing myself but the endocrinologist suggested D3 and B12 so I take them religiously. I make my own magnesium spray but an Epsom Salt bath sounds much easier! I agree it's magic stuff.

Our bathtub is virtually inaccessible for me and hasn't been used for years. It is a double ended one and the taps are at the front so it's precarious getting in and out, using them as an impromptu handrail. The shower door doesn't open smoothly so I have to yank it open and I feel vulnerable with slippery feet.
Can't wait for my new bathroom. Doorless shower and a sensible bathtub!

Hope everyone has a nice weekend ❤

bedfrog · 12/09/2026 09:06

@TeaAndStrumpets I don't have facebook either, no social media at all! All I have is this and whatsapp which I mainly keep to call my mum (abroad)

I don't want to change this thread at all so maybe I will dismiss that idea for now I think.

Rainy and dull here today, perfect to water in my new trees. I had my neck pain yesterday so have to try not to move my head too much/at all so I won't be able to do much today!! Might put on Gardener's world (and the kettle)

Agree! Good luck with the trees. Thinking of kettles and neck pain, I spent years looking for a non plastic light weight kettle as lifting our old one used to pull on my neck. I finally found a stainless 1 litre one with a fast boil and it is much better. Plenty to fill a large teapot. Those boiling taps scare me! Everyone says how wonderful they are but I am very inattentive so would probably do something silly.

TeaAndStrumpets · 12/09/2026 09:42

DH has a few things to take to DD1 this morning so I was planning to go with him. Getting washed and dressed pushed up my heartrate and lowered my oxygen so am not going. I hate being sensible.

JewelleryCat · 12/09/2026 10:25

@TeaAndStrumpets if ever you want a kettle that doesn’t pull your neck, google uccello kettle. You don’t even have to lift it out if you don’t want too and just fill it via a mug and you can just tip the water out with one finger

TodayIsabetterone · 12/09/2026 11:06

Ahh sorry @TeaAndStrumpets that’s rubbish you can’t go today. Hope you can find a gentle distraction.

I quite like the idea of a WhatsApp spin off group actually but equally happy to chat on here too which sounds like most people would prefer. I wouldn’t like this thread to change.

So in the change over phase of meds! Up a few times last night as the new patch obviously takes time to kick in and I couldn't take any strong meds alongside, just paracetamol but shoulder pain feels a bit more manageable this morning. 🤞 Of course it could well be it’s 2 days after the osteopath which is when everything feels a tad looser! Either way I’ll take it.
DH is struggling this week with a cold/ sinus infection. He never takes painkillers but did last night and was fast asleep snoring whilst I was wide awake!

No plans today, might try and use my scooter to join DH on a quick dog walk if he’s feeling up to it later as it looks like a nice day and getting outside even if it’s only for 15 minutes might do us both some good!

MewithME · 12/09/2026 11:26

I've been thinking about what I posted earlier and feel like I should apologise to @bedfrog . It's not my business if some of you want a WhatsApp group. You should do what works for you. I think I just felt a bit sad that we might change or lose what we have here, as you've all been really important for me. But it's not about me. 💐

I have had a monster lie in. I now feel gross so going to have an epsom salt bath to hopefully deal with pain and de-gross myself. I think I will have to wash my hair before I dare to go to the hairdresser's who will also wash my hair. Is that mad?

It does look nice outside so a short walk sounds very relaxing.
I'm sorry not to see DD1 and family, you just miss so much with only the odd phone call. At least when we move she can pop in whenever, likewise dgc. They are very excited about us living next to them. Starting to panic about the build progress! We have to be out by mid January so may be living in a tent 😧

Don't worry about having to WhatsApp @MewithME I couldn't be doing with the constant messages either. We've been dealing with a lot of trades recently and they all use it. They say to DH they'll send him a WhatsApp message to show him a brick or something and he looks blank, then they say OK I'll send a picture to your phone and he just points out his little Nokia which hasn't even got a camera! He gets them to use email.

CoffeeBeansGalore · 12/09/2026 12:37

Afternoon all.
Lovely & sunny here but quite windy.
I also had a monster lie in. We're about to have brunch!
Actually slept quite well so a rather nice Saturday so far 😊

TodayIsabetterone · 12/09/2026 12:37

Ahh @TeaAndStrumpets it will be lovely when they can just pop in. Fingers crossed the build progresses quickly.
id be concerned too but It’s amazing how all of a sudden they do come together though. There’s a site of new houses being built near me which I only really pass en route to the osteopath but I can’t quite believe how it’s gone from a derelict corner to actual houses!

martha79 · 12/09/2026 13:58

Afternoon all. Hope you feel a bit brighter @MewithME and the haircut goes well.

I'm on the verge of having too many WhatsApp groups, even though I do mute most of them. But if it ever seemed like MN wasn't a bearable place for us to be, I would definitely want to keep in touch with as many of you as possible.

I've surprised myself this morning by making it to rehearsal of my little music group, having missed quite a few months and let them look after themselves. I told myself I'd try to at least turn up for the start (and deliver the biscuits) but I actually managed the whole two hours with a mix of listening and playing. Got a lift home, bought myself a coffee and a chocolate orange brownie from the cafe on my street, and am now flopped in bed. Making myself rest when I feel like I could do more because I'm very aware I'm running on adrenaline and sugar!
