@bedfrog the woman was kind enough but she has a job to do so has to remain neutral. She did say at the end "go and get yourself some rest for the remainder of the day". It's like you can see I have metastatic cancer I'm not exactly applying for it for s and giggles.

TodayIsabetterone · 10/09/2026 14:00

Those appointments are utterly dehumanising and exhausting @Oioiqueen I feel broken after every assessment. Im so sorry you had to go through that.
But it’s over now, you survived it so rest up and be very kind to yourself. A treat with your cuppa sounds in order to me.

It's absolutely stress you dont need but at least she was kind about it!

Oioiqueen · 10/09/2026 14:03

@TodayIsabetterone im sorry that you've also had such an exhausting experience with it. This is it I've stopped dissecting it with MIL, what's done is done and now just the wait. If I get refused then I'll need to go and speak with Macmillan. If I get it then I don't need to think about it for a long while.

TodayIsabetterone · 10/09/2026 14:49

@Oioiqueen
Absolutely! The best approach. We just have to jump through their silly hoops. Makes me mad but it is what is. Fingers firmly crossed for a speedy decision. 🤞

TeaAndStrumpets · 10/09/2026 16:14

Sympathy for everyone struggling today.

The world is crazy @Oioiqueen when you are being interrogated over a few quid you are actually entitled to.

I am on my knees from an exciting week when the only minor effort I've made is chatting to some visitors over a sandwich lunch two days ago. It's ridiculous!

I've been resting loads but the need to organise things is driving me on. I've spent hours on the internet looking for a new bed, thought I'd found one then DH doesn't like it. We are going to actually visit a real shop to find a mattress, when I've got out of PEM. Ours current mattress is years old but we are moving up to kingsize, very luxurious!

Did you get your wiring sorted @MewithME ? Exciting to get a new tumble dryer though. (Well I would be excited! I'm all for making life easier.)

Oioiqueen · 10/09/2026 16:26

@TeaAndStrumpets love our king size. Wish we'd had a bedroom big enough before

Yes I've been acquiring bits of kingsize bedding for ages! Can't wait.

FuzzyPuffling · 10/09/2026 16:33

My car passed its MOT. Well done little car.

Always a relief!

CoffeeBeansGalore · 10/09/2026 18:03

Evening all.
Been grey & wet here today. Only reached 14⁰c & I'm cuddled up in a hoodie. Taking it easy today as physio yesterday & hospital appointment with painful bloods on Tuesday had worn me out.

@Oioiqueen I'm so sorry your interview was grim. It really is nerve racking. I hope you get awarded with no further hassle.

@FuzzyPuffling great news!

@TeaAndStrumpets good luck with the search. Love our kingsize. It's pocket sprung with a pillow top. The storage drawers are very useful.

FuzzyPuffling · 10/09/2026 18:28

@Oioiqueen I really hope your PIP application is successful. Having to go through all that when you're already in a shit place is just blooming unfair.

Big bed- yes. We upgraded from double to king-size when we moved house ( bigger bedroom) and now there's room for Him, Me and both cats.

Love to everyone else.

Tomorrow we're off to the dentist. It’s a 1.5 hr drive each way ( but it's NHS- gold dust) and as it's where we used to live, we shall have lunch with friends. So not all bad.

TeaAndStrumpets · 10/09/2026 20:43

OK that's it. The heating has gone back on! Even DH admits it's a bit nippy.

Managed to watch another episode of Legends, it is very good. I am reading a book about the history of English church buildings which is very interesting, and have set the BT box to record Ruth Goodman on the Great Plague. So that's me sorted!

FuzzyPuffling · 10/09/2026 20:50

I've given up and gone to bed! Lovely.

Oioiqueen · 10/09/2026 21:06

@TeaAndStrumpets are you in the Scottish Highlands or something haha I've still got all our windows open in the Midlands. I'm in bed with a nice breeze.

My one criticism of this colder weather is my tea gets cold quicker and I'm not into a cold brew.

@Oioiqueen we're in Lincolnshire so not really the Frozen North! Our house is badly insulated and is 22° indoors. Still after the summer we've had I think I prefer been too cold to being too hot!

TeaAndStrumpets · 11/09/2026 09:46

Morning all

It's quite sunny here but I'm still glad of the heating. I think it's time for the winter duvet (if I can find it). There are so many boxes and bags packed up in the dining room!

I felt so grotty yesterday and then couldn't sleep so I got up for an hour at 1am. Looked at yet more bed frames on the internet. They all look the same to me but the prices vary so much.

At the moment we have an old Victorian brass and iron bed which will probably last for another hundred years but is too small and too high for us. It cost £20 out of the local paper when we were buying our first home. We could get a replica but the original is built like a battleship and the new ones seem very flimsy!

@TodayIsabetterone hope the osteopath is still helping.

Oioiqueen · 11/09/2026 12:51

@TeaAndStrumpets ooo definitely it's easier being cold than too hot.

Afternoon all. I've kept busy this morning, ran a few errands around the village and for school. I'm glad I made a list the other day so I could just crack on this morning. Also took MIL into our local town, she loves a mooch and I'm really enjoying her company this week. It's been great having someone to do things with. Have a few jobs at home to potter on with but also trying to think what on earth to do with the kids this weekend.

TodayIsabetterone · 11/09/2026 13:33

Afternoon all
Heating @TeaAndStrumpets?! Must have been chilly!
I did close the bedroom window overnight last night tbough as it felt nippy for probably the first time since about April! Forgotten my windows close!

lol at the cold brew @Oioiqueen I was complaining to DH about that yesterday 😂

Hope the dentist goes okay @FuzzyPuffling and you have a nice lunch with friends.

It’s recover from the Osteopath day today so just taking it easy. she worked on just loosening everything yesterday so it does feel easier.

GP also phoned this morning and suggested trying a patch for pain relief that will release slowly over the week so now on my 7 th different medication since April! Fingers crossed! I also have a steroid injection booked for the end of September so hopefully something has got to help soon! After physio telling me on Monday they had an 8 month waiting list for a steroid injection, I’m happy to wait 3 weeks!

TeaAndStrumpets · 11/09/2026 13:46

I've has a reassuring report from DD1 re dgs who's had his first week of college and is settling in better than anyone dared hope. The other kids are friendly and nobody's upset him yet (a miracle!) They are short a bass player so his Mum's been scouring Marketplace to find him yet another guitar.

Unfortunately he is too embarrassed to do his diabetes checking/injecting so is not eating at all during the day. Teens are so self conscious. He'll soon find nobody is bothered!

Gosh that has been quite a runaround with the injection! The pain relief patch will hopefully keep you going.

Hope the dentist was OK @FuzzyPuffling we will be doing the same after we move!

Your MIL sounds like good company @Oioiqueen and hope you enjoyed your mooch!

Its lovely here, warm with a breeze, and sunny. DH did the washing and pegged it out, I've been clearing up around our little pond in preparation for a few more bulbs going in, and I made a cheese and spring onion quiche for lunch. I feel very industrious, and a bit tired. Time for a sit down with a silly film, and a cup of tea. I might even break out some chocolate.

The spring onions were home grown in my little veg yarden. They have a very punchy flavour. They have aspirations to being proper onions. Luckily they tasted ok cooked, because they really make my eyes water eating them raw.

That made my mouth water!

The dentist was fine, thank-you. I have perfect teeth and gums, despite my advanced age (!) and Sjogrens. The dentist was particularly complimentary about my cleaning technique.
I am SmuggyMcSmugface. 😁

But I am also knackered!

Swanhilde · 11/09/2026 17:59

Home from work and in bed with a cuppa. It's definitely the weekend @MewithME 📯

My sleep has been rubbish this week and my legs are so sore despite regular painkillers. So I'm going to have a nice, relaxing epsom salt bath after tea and an early night 🛁

DH and DD are cooking pizza and I can hear them chatting ☺️

Have a restful evening all 💕
