Funny afternoon - I was meant to have one meeting which I got ready for at 4pm... then realised it was at 4.30... then they didn't turn up 🙄

Then my landlady had texted earlier to ask if I could show someone round the remaining empty flat as they could only do 5pm today and she couldn't get anyone there for it. So I have had a nosey at next door (nice but very small), and done my best sales patter (because he seemed like a decent person).

Other excitement is that I ordered some ankle-length wellies for pottering down to the park on wet days and they've just arrived. Seem very comfy. And they're leopard print!

Warning if anyone else is watching Professor T - you may need your tissues at the ready for the final episode 🥲

The electrician didn't turn up 😭

Got to go into office tomorrow too and I'm exhausted. Gone over my budget. Pace points on my visible gadget have been binned through this afternoon.

Really want to finish the jumper I started earlier in the year. It was just too hot to knit over the summer so I'll dig it out and carry on 🧶

I've started knitting a scarf - I haven't got the concentration for patterns, but straight knitting is quite relaxing. Found a huge ball of fluffy wool in one of my boxes, although not sure if it's enough, so I may end up with just a big rectangle/ mini blanket 😂

I've had a few off days and everything is inflamed. I know things will calm down eventually so trying to be patient in the meantime.

DH still packing. Things are coming out of cupboards into boxes, lot and lots of boxes. Most of it belonging to DH who never gets rid of ANYTHING. i am simultaneously glad he's doing the heavy stuff and pissed off that he is hanging on to so much. Can only say that here! Can't mention it in real life 😟 We literally can't spare two hours to have an argument about it, so I'm standing by while he packs everything!

We have some friends who moved back to England from South Africa years ago, leaving the removals people to pack everything. When they eventually got their shipping container back here they discovered that the packing people had carefully wrapped a boiled egg! It had been forgotten on the kitchen worktop so it just got packed.

A very rainy one here too so had to put my raincoat over pjs and lure dippy dog outside with treats where she dashed underneath the parasol, did the speediest wee ever and ran back inside pronto and back up to bed 😂 Both still chilling in bed with a cuppa ☕️

I can only do straight knitting too @martha79 though not with current shoulder/arm issues 🙄 I do have a scarf I started last winter and never finished but my knitting projects tend to go like that! I’ll get back to it one day.
Maybe you could turn yours into a fluffy cat blanket?

I feel your pain @TeaAndStrumpets so hard having to stand by and just watch but I think it’s the best approach to just let him get on with it. Frustrating for you though, so vent to us instead. We don’t mind!

Yes I've decided to let it all roll over me! I think a lot of the boxes will stay unpacked for years but at least they are all clearly labelled for posterity 😏

I mean they will stay packed, not unpacked. Brain not working.

Thanks for the warning! Will watch when I am feeling better. I have been banned from exciting/emotional TV this week as my adrenaline levels are going mad.....heart rate etc.

We are partway through Legends with Steve Coogan but it's getting a bit violent so it's on hold for a bit. I was really enjoying it - it's from the makers of The Gold and really gripping.

I'm surprised the cats haven't got more involved in the knitting, they usually like to chase the wool. But yes, they might like a blanket, they'll probably adopt the scarf anyway if I leave it anywhere!

😂at the egg story. At least it was hard boiled. A relative of mine once sent me a parcel of Easter goodies, things like a knitted egg cosy. And an egg to go in it. An uncooked egg. In the post.

I've just packed up DD2's birthday presents to post, no eggs involved! I am running out of smutty bodice rippers to send, so she's got a normal book with a pretty cover. It's a long-running joke to find the paperback with the most objectified half naked nobleman depicted on the cover - a nice change from her day job in Proper Literature.

Also cash of course and a nice insulated mug for wfh days. It's a struggle buying for adults, money is always useful but I try to find something to unwrap.

Those gifts sound great @TeaAndStrumpets It definitely gets trickier to choose presents as they get older as I tend to think ‘ Oh I bought that last year or the year before!’

I found my mum ( 86) hard to buy for this time as I’ve bought her most things over the years. I had a brainstorm on our recent cruise to get a nice perfume as I was scooting by the store most days and it’s a nice change to buy from an actual shop, not my usual online. DH was very patient as the decision process involved multiple trips and multiple sprays! In the end I remembered an old one she used to love so played safe with that. She was thrilled!

I sometimes browse the Fragrantica website looking for perfume tips. They analyse what "notes" feature in each perfume and tell you what other perfume is most similar. I suppose it's a bit like wine tasting.

Sadly I don't drink wine or wear perfume these days!

Not that I know of! The egg was slightly cracked but intact.

Oh I love Fragrantica @TeaAndStrumpets. I have quite a perfume collection (not generally expensive, just ones I like) and I'm so glad COVID didn't steal my sense of smell, but I am a lot more sensitive these days. Some I can no longer wear and just have to sniff the bottle.

It's fab isn't it! Lots of rabbit holes to go down. DD1 loves Kelly Caleche, but also buys vintage half bottles of other ones she'll probably like, guided by Fragrantica. There are some gems out there.

@martha79 I love those wellies, I find the ankle or mid shin length much more comfortable than the long ones.

I've had a good couple of days, I've managed to manage my energy and rest up before I'm really tired. I hate being sensible, but I know I can get more done if I go slower. Its against my nature though.

Oh I must look at that website thanks. I don’t wear perfume often either as like most of us here don’t go out much but sometimes I just wear it because I feel like it!
I’m lucky as I’m not overly sensitive to fragrances like many with ME although strong smelling flowers like Lilies always give me a headache and it took me ages to make the connection. I removed the lilies from a bunch one time and bingo the headache went!

Today I did a load of washing, cleaned a window and polished my double bass.
Random selection of jobs there.
