Favourite Christmas present ever was a blonde haired Sindy Doll in a ballerina outfit. I was about 4 or 5 years old. The shoes had tiny criss cross plastic ribbons like real ballet shoes. Later I got a dark haired Sindy with a horse who I adored equally but that was for a birthday. I don't think anything could top those Sindys.

What has been your worst restaurant experience where out of politeness you felt forced to eat something you loathe? Or would you just reject it/ leave it?
Mine was being taken out for a business lunch in Italy to a restaurant specialising in all things Mortadella. Hate the stuff. Ate my way through numerous courses of it. I was in my twenties. I don't think I'd do that now.

I had the same ballerina Sindy! πŸ˜‚ Also a gymnastic Sindy that had a leotard, headband and leggings. I thought all my dreams had come true!

I recently walked out of a restaurant. I wasn't rude or anything but when we were seated and we'd ordered drinks, we then asked for a menu. We were given a piece of wood with a QR code on it. I asked if they had a traditional menu to look at - they said no and said no-one asks for a physical menu so they don't provide any... (well I'd just asked!)

I did once go on a date with someone who kept trying to feed me oysters at a Chinese restaurant 🀒. I lost count of how many times I said "no thanks" (had it have been dark chocolate the situation may have slightly changed 😁) BUT then he clicked his fingers at the waitress and I cut the evening short. I can laugh about it now but at the time I was really annoyed.

Who is the most famous person you have met?

πŸ˜‚ I love reading your replies!

I feel like I keep talking about cooking a Roast Dinner πŸ™„ so one of my other favourites to cook that's nothing like that is an Indian curry. I gave up trying to replicate a Chinese dish years ago - it's never going to happen. I do have 'waves' of baking cakes too. Apparently I make a good coffee cake and a good lemon cake!

Most romantic thing someone has done for you?

My DH used to make me things in his workshop at the farm when we were seeing each other before we moved in together. Ive accumulated a copper heart, also a wooden heart with our wood burned initials in. He did an amazing memory book with lots of little items he’d saved from our dates and walks. Funny how things change πŸ˜‚

If, for a week, you had to wear a slogan t shirt of a charity or something you really believe in, what would it be?

I’m a big John Newman fan and have met him
a few times after gigs but more famous to most, I used to rub shoulders with quite a few of the current top F1 drivers.

How many pairs of shoes do you own? (I realise I may be repeating some questions from way down the thread! Apologies if so)

I met Prince Edward when I was a teen as part of Cambridge Youth Theatre - 1988/89

Jack Dee and the lead singer of Fine Young Cannibals at the Edinburgh festival
at an afters party - stunning man. his name escapes me - charisma and coolness oozing out of every poor - 1992/3

Caroline Aherne - 1995 ish i think, roundabout her Fast Show /earl Mrs Merton days - we were at the same run down all inclusive resort in Malta and she was in recovery. She and her friend latched onto our big multi-generational group of family and friends of an evening and we had an absolute blast. Very warm funny , quick witted girl . Great fun x

I don't count - but I would estimate 50 pairs all in (shoes/sandals/boots).

Ooohh. Tough one for me. I've seen a lot of both but opera mainly at 'event cinema' and it's doesn't come close to watching it 'live'. The first time I cried! I got completely absorbed into it. Yes - going to say 'Opera'.

I do love 'Musicals' too though...

Does a Krispy Kreme doughnut count? 🍩

If you had to change your name, what would you choose?

I Would have to change it to Alexis-Krystal Shapiro

Basically, my stage name when my twin sisters and I used to make up dances in the garden, wearing my mum’s old nighties, head scarfs and high heels and charge 20p to my ever patient step dad to sit and watch out β€˜performances’ while eating a bowl of skips with a crumbled trio biscuit on top (obvs included in the ticket price )

My sisters names were
Dusty O’Donovan
and Rusty- Lee Streisand

Out neighbour Vicky had mans wig/toupe and a bow tie in her dress up box so we used to take it in turns to play the male lead - John-boy Guzzenburg

I recently suggested getting the band back together ..sadly no take up much to my step dads disappointment..

Favourite tree/flower or plant ?

I like supermarket own brand beans but not value range.
Heinz are too thick and claggy for me - I like a looser Tom sauce as by the time I add masses grated cheese , knob of butter and Worcestershire sauce it’s then perfect for me x

SV retired about 4 years ago, I haven’t spoken to him myself but by all accounts he’s a really nice chap. Very family oriented and very grounded.

Ah I couldn’t say because I would feel I’d need to follow up with a reason to explain why and then I’d be bitching 😱

Just had a good clear out on Vinted and have just left myself with

2 pairs flip flops
Pair of running shoes
1 pair of β€˜dressy β€˜low wedges
4 x pairs converse
3 x pairs vans
1 x pair leather ankle boots
1 x pair black over knee sexy boots with a 4 inch heel- they get an airing about once a year when I can be arsed and I feel good old long suffering DH deserves a treat lol

I got rid of lots of dressy sandals/ anything with a heel and loafers /flats /ankle boots that has seen better days - or was bored of

For winter I fancy couple pairs of funky vintage tennis shoes/trainers and going to invest in some DMs also

The Swiss Family Robinson, I remember reading it at around age 10 and feeling like I was in the book living the life they were. It was extraordinary, I hated finishing that book.

Never - I say what I want /think online and in real life no matter how controversial it may be in line with whatever new fad/the way the wind is blowing -Sod that I’m 50 will say what I believe if asked.

I do not do this at work, however, where it could cost me my job as this pays the mortgage and I know what side my bread is buttered!!

I love salad cream - reheated some roast potatoes from earlier this evening and smothered them in SC and salt n pepper.
Bliss. See also cheese n cucumber sandwich with loads butter and SC with a side of crisps and another blob SC for dipping - lovely x

Clothes and make up off the market in town where I lived
We only got bought clothes/treats at Xmas or Bday (apart from 2nd school uniform when it fell to bits) as well as Clark’s shoes twice a year)

As soon as I was 13 and got my first paper round and waitressing job I was then able to buy myself bits n pieces. Best feeling in world loved it. I also soon after then went to a proper hairdresser for a perm -instead of my mums friend /neighbour β€˜auntie Linda’ coming over to butcher out hair while chain smoking Rothmans in my mum’s kitchen lol

We met in 'real life'. We worked at neighbouring companies that shared a car park. My car kept getting mysteriously 'blocked in'. Always by the same car. It turned out he was blocking my car in on purpose as he said it was the only way he could get to speak to me... πŸš™πŸš—

Ah I see, I like his style (although some on here would say that’s a stalker and you must LTB immediately lol!!)

AKA Mr Quaver lol
We went to school together he was in year above.
After I separated from the 1st Mr Babbit of nearly 20 years, I went through the not uncommon initial separation flurry -while the younger kids at his weekends - of going out and generally being a bit of a boozey slapper (great fun at the time !) with my other recently single friends /one of my sisters.
The novelty of this soon wore off and it tailed off after couple months but not before Mr Quaver FB messaged me to say had seen me out and did I remember him
from school etc. I didn’t of course as he has braces , floppy curtains and was a non descript lanky nerdy streak of piss back then.
Went from there, started dating and here we are 14 years later. Still
a nerd and I love it
We got married but didn’t move in and
do all the blended family crap until all the kids were older. He’s a good egg x

Do you use a diary or calendar app or do you use one hung up in the house?

One in the kitchen hanging up
one inside a cupboard door with holidays marked in to keep track of annual leave
Work one week by week which I also use for reminders

Do you still have a landline ?

Yes! I admit I do like an old school landline!

how long have you lived in your current house?
