On Beef imports. The US beef people have a beef about that:

"The National Cattlemen’s Beef Association pushed back on Trump’s announcement, writing on social media, “No cow-calf producer in America is asking for increased imports. Undercutting American farmers and ranchers with inferior product from foreign competitors does nothing to create market confidence or encourage rebuilding the herd.”"

Thanks for that Grauniad article about the National Guard, @Spandauer. If only there were more pushback like that against Trump and his minions’ fake news. It’s horrifying that it has to be said that the US government can’t just twist the facts and rewrite the truth to their benefit. Unfuckingbelievable. (Excuse the swearing, I’m way past polite today.)

Sorry to bombard you with Heather. Today’s is a doozy.

"He warned the crowd that he would be impeached if Democrats take back Congress. And then he declared that there really is no Republican Party anymore. It is all MAGA."
Also:
"And what was the insubordination? What was the act so dangerous, so threatening to the Department of Defense, that it required the removal of three journalists from a newspaper that has existed for over 160 years? They defended the idea that the troops deserve the truth."

The president is falling apart

At 7:05 tonight, Donald Trump was seen offstage through a slit in the curtain, wearing a deep navy suit and bright red tie as he made his first pass at the stage. Not even a minute later, he emerged, energized and ready to go. Stepping forward, he stop...

The worst bit is that Trump is possibly suing as a private person. He thinks he's still in Construction where he used lawsuits to intimidate and threaten.
Hang on, he's still in Construction, isn't he.

WaPo: The number of U.S. service members reported wounded or killed in the Iran war has jumped to 774, after the Pentagon added scores of new troops to the wounded list in the last few days.

So the 'data disruptions' that previously prevented the reporting of deaths in July are now fixed?

Now that Iran and the US have reached an unstoppable force, immovable object stalemate, I looked back on Trump's reasons for war against Iran:
Freedom for the Iranian people/regime change ➡then prevent the development of a nuclear weapon ➡then destroy military capability ➡now, force a nuclear deal and reopen the SoH.

WH ballroom project:
More space for parties/events ➡then modernising and upgrading the WH ➡then the East Wing needed to be replaced ➡then national security ➡now, NATIONAL SECURITY!

I see a pattern here. Isn't it nice how one can change the scope of work when someone else foots the bill?

So we’re now most of the way through August… Melania has popped up finally but we’ve still not seen hide nor hair of Schroedinger’s senator?

Quote "The Supreme Court will let Donald Trump continue building his White House ballroom and “military complex” while a legal challenge against the East Wing’s demolition and sprawling construction project continues."

For brevity I will use this quote rather then find a bit with Trump saying it is a military facility. He has said it.

It reminds me of how the "enemies" hide among civvies, human shields, military tunnels under hospitals and schools. Take your pick. We all know the dirty tricks they tell us the baddies do as the US bombs them.

Hang on mo. The US Government is a civilian government. They don't do these dirty tricks. They make sure anything military is separate and distinct from civvie stuff.

And here they are, building a military facility bang in the middle of DC.

I'd be willing to bet good money that it will need to be completed in time for the next election. Because when DT's "victory" is "stolen" from again, he will need a fortified place of refuge while his foot soldiers open fire on the disloyal. So essential for it to be a military fortification - while he continues to travel in unsecure superplanes and hold rallies, meeting and briefing at hotels and golf clubs.

Now that’s what I call a Great President Vol 30.
My immediate reaction is to wonder whether the hissy-fit Trump will undoubtedly have about this, will do for him. But then I follow a social media page whose cover photo is a pseudo Snoopy cartoon asking “Is he dead yet?”, so I might be somewhat obsessed with that thought.
