Why hasn’t Brad Pitt been cancelled?

Why hasn’t Brad Pitt been cancelled? I don’t even really pay attention to celebrity news but I see occasional things that he’s divorced, alcoholic, was abusive to his wife and children, children don’t want his last name, etc. Especially because his ex (Angelina Jolie) seems to be idolised for her beauty and humanitarian work. It’s not like people don’t like her!

Is Brad Pitt just too handsome? What’s the deal?

This is her statement. Doesn't mean it's not full of lies.

I dislike AJ, I think she's a psychopath, and I'm not convinced that Brad is a bad person.

Here's why:

AJ has been trouble her whole life. She was with an older boyfriend at 14 and was planning to go and live on the streets with him, so her mother let her move him in to keep her safe. Started her fast lifestyle early.

  • She used to do heroin. Heroin! That is some seriously fucked-up shit.
  • She was photographed snogging her brother.
  • She wore a vial of some bloke's blood around her neck.
  • She was on her third marriage while still in her thirties.
  • She helped herself to Jennifer Aniston's husband.
  • She helped herself to Laura Dern's fiance.

Some humanitarian. She's all about caring for other humans as long as you don't have the man she wants. Then you're toast. Amazing how she forgets the humanity of the women whose men she stole.

About Brad:

  • He was investigated by the FBI and not charged. AJ does not have the authority to decide whether he gets charged or not, so the above upthread about AJ's mercy is rubbish. Where children are involved, the authorities make the decision. Brad was later given 50/50 custody of the children, and AJ simply refused to comply. She complied only when threatened with prison by a judge. She is absolutely fucking awful.
  • NONE of Brad Pitt's many previous girlfriends, fiancees, or wives have ever said that he was abusive to them. His current girlfriend, who he's been with for some time now, doesn't seem to have any complaints either.

I'm not denying that Brad lost his temper on that plane. Children can push you to breaking point, and there are six of them, plus AJ refused to ever correct them or discipline them, according to reports from people who have worked for her. No regular bedtimes or anything boring and sensible like that. (By discipline I mean consequences, not physical discipline, before the nutters come for me.) Brad did want to being them up in the normal way, with regular bedtimes and meal times and being made to brush their teeth etc. He said on the plane, apparently, "Mummy is ruining this family!"

I think Brad was pushed to breaking point on that plane by the large amount of uncontrolled children and the fact that AJ would not work with him in instilling routines and consequences.

I do not think that losing his temper like that was OK. Of course it wasn't. But it seems to have been a one-off. AJ has never complained about him being like that at other times.

Since then, he has admitted that he had a problem with alcohol and weed, and he has got help. He has turned life around. But still there is no forgiveness for him, all these years later. One incident, and that's it, he virtually never sees his family again, despite Brad being given 50/50 access. AJ just ignored the court order. She carried out a sustained, textbook campaign of parental alienation, so bad that it's permanent, because of one incident, after which he sought treatment.

Brad Pitt has been around in Hollywood for a very long time, and no one he's ever dated, been engaged or married to, or has worked with, has had bad things to say about him. He made mistakes with drink and weed, and he certainly made a mistake when he lost it on that plane. But I see nothing to indicate that he should be cut off from his children forever more. If AJ was a good person and a good parent, she'd be facilitating their relationship with their dad, like Jennifer Garner does with Ben Affleck, despite his alcohol problems.

Anyone with an ounce of common sense can weigh all this up and see that it's more than likely that AJ, the complete weirdo, is behind all this, not Brad, who's never had problems with anyone but her.

She put her desire to have her children all to herself before their welfare, and as for Brad's pain at virtually never seeing his children again, well, who cares about his feelings, right?

She's a horrible, horrible person.

I don’t follow celebrity stuff. But having read about the plane incident here, if my husband behaved like this, even just once, I would never be able to look at him again in the same way. It’s unforgivable in my view. even if he was a model husband the rest of the time; the behaviour on the plane is appalling, and I could not move on from it.

Indeed.

It is the usual misogynist trope.

The media and the industry have decided that Angelina is the mad, bad woman who stole him from his dutiful wife and turned his kids against him in revenge while good old handsome, publicly charming Brad is blameless.

When in fact that:

  • He happily cheated on his previous wife. No woman forces a man to cheat unless he wants to
  • He has a history of alcohol abuse and is a weed user. Both can have a big impact on moods and behaviour
  • There is evidence that the incident on the plane that caused the divorce involved him assaulting one of his kids and his wife. He never denied it
  • Several of his kids have decided to drop his name. They have a mind of their own and for them to do that there must have been some serious issues.

Ultimately for all is money and fame he is the one losing out on a good relationship with his kids.

This. All kinds of shit went down on Epstein’s private jet.

Absolutely.

As the statement is AJ's, I imagine it's not the objective truth, but given the broader situation it seems clear that BP was verbally aggressive, and (as they both had minor injuries) there was a physical altercation. Along with the way the older children have chosen to be estranged from their father, I'd say the truth is closer to her story than to his.

I absolutely believe that beautiful women aren’t believed by the police in California. 100%. Harvey Weinstein, anyone? Nicole Brown Simpson? The police were literally called out to her house dozens of times. There are multiple police call recordings of her saying, “He’s going to end up killing me.” And yet, after each visit, it was, “It’s a domestic—two sides to the story. Nothing to see here.” And no charges were pressed.

With Nicole, she declined to press charges. It was actually the bent cop, Mark Fuhrman, who was called to her residence the night he beat her up, chased her out the house, and smashed her car up. She decided not to press charges, with which he disagreed, and told her, "Well, it's your funeral." He may have been a bent cop, but he was right about her decision not to press charges being the wrong decision.

In late 1989, OJ actually was arrested for spousal abuse. He pleaded no contest to a charge of spousal battery, was given two years' probation and had to do 120 hours of community service. The police had bene called, after an incident at their house, and he fled from the scene in his car, but the police went after him.

I don't think any of this was harsh enough, I'm just saying that it's not quite accurate that the police did nothing.

and the funniest ! 🙄

It’s probably unfair, but when I think of Angelina Julie, I think of her leg and that photo.

Edited

Eh? He did deny that the plane incident became physical. And I believe that the kids dropped his name after years of her pouring poison in their ears.

If everyone divorced, alcoholic or absuive was cancelled there would be very few celebraties left- so it would be meaningless.
I don't think AJ would be winning any awards for reasonable behaviour either TBH.

I think it's all or most of his six kids now sadly. Not just one daughter.

I read it was all but one of his kids

Hear, hear.

But that's far too much common sense for many on here!

The trouble is that this is how women have been silenced about abuse in all its forms for years. The perpetrator or the system cry ‘she’s unhinged’ ‘she’s mad’ to invalidate what she says and to protect the abuser. It’s a well work path.

Her behaviour as a young woman suggests she had some vulnerability and was psychologically not so healthy. That would actually make her more likely to end up in an abusive relationship.

So, her personality, psychology and behaviour over the years don’t prove what did or didn’t happen. He’s said he had a problem with drugs and alcohol - that would mean emotion regulation would be harder.

In short, we can never know for sure exactly what happened, but his sons post on Father’s Day is perhaps the most compelling.

PrincessofWills · Yesterday 08:04

That report is really vague and totally inadequate for a witness statement. It's full of phrases like 'verbally abusive' but fails to give any sort of detail as to what that abuse consisted of. I doubt it's a genuine court report and if it is, the lack of detail renders it pretty useless for most purposes.

pietasty852 · Yesterday 08:05

Same reason that Johnny Depp hasn’t been cancelled. They are men. And a lot of women are the most sexist out there, and back it/them.

Arjan · Yesterday 08:05

It was an anonymous tip off to family services, no one know who made the call.

pietasty852 · Yesterday 08:08

CrazyMidget · Yesterday 07:38

That report was leaked in 2022 by her to make Pitt look bad. The FBI decided not to charge Pitt in consultation with the U.S. Attorney. The LA DCFS (Department of Children and Families) also declined to charge him.

So that's THREE government agencies that decided not to charge him. Know why? Because her statement was a pack of lies, unsubstantiated by the pilot and flight crew. In that report, there is no mention of any of the flight crew or pilot trying to calm him down or telling him to sit down. We're supposed to believe that this huge, physically violent multi-person brawl took place and there is no part of the account that has any of the crew intervening at any point? And it's against aviation law not to control situations like that in the air.

She probably exaggerated so much in order to have the report up her sleeve to leak it when she needed to make him look bad, which she duly did in 2022. That's where that report comes from.

And after that report was released, he reiterated that things did not become physical. Which chimes with why there's no record of the pilot telling him to sit down and belt up, no communication with air traffic control to say there was a brawl on the plane and where can they land, and why the FBI, US Attorney General, and the LA DCFS all agreed not to charge him.

And yet the credulous among us lap up the purple prose and believe every word of it.

Oh look CrazyMidget once lived with Brad and knows everything.

But we can't let what's happened to women over the years cloud the facts about an individual case. It still seems amazing to me that there was no pilot intervention in this massive brawl, and that three government agencies decided not to charge him. Neither did the pilot contact air traffic control about an unhinged, drunken, physically abusive passenger. I don't think AJ is a reliable witness.

Agree with what you say about women not being believed over the years. But that's really got nothing to do with this case. And we should not just blindly believe all women, because then they could just say anything and ruin a man. I'm sure you wouldn't like it if a son or husband or brother of yours was accused and convicted because we have to automatically believe all allegations of abuse.

Most of the time, the allegations are true, of course. But there are women who will exploit the fact that many automatically believe any and all accusations of abuse. Not sure if you remember the Rolling Stone magazine debacle over the article A Rape on Campus. The woman, pseudonym Jackie, admitted she had made the whole thing up.

While false accusations don't happen very often, they do happen, and I think AJ is messed-up enough to have embellished report so she could leak it later, knowing it would be in the files. And she did leak it.

Of course, I could be completely wrong. But AJ is a difficult person to trust as a reporter, especially as so many agencies decided not to charge him and the pilot didn't intervene.

ETA: Maddox's Father's Day post does give me pause.

There are some nuts people when it comes to celebrities they find attractive. If you’re going to make up a ‘pack of lies’ why do it on a private plane? Surely it’s much easier to make up your domestic abuse story at home with no/ fewer witnesses than a locked box flying over the Atlantic? But she’s crazy because of things she did thirty years ago right?

The Ian Lightfoot account is great because he demonstrates how much awful shit some men in the public eye can get away with whereas a woman wears some blood in a vial in the 90s which proves she is unstable and weird and unlikeable for ever more. And this stuff rarely seems to be publicised but then I see Johnny Depp peering out at me from ads all the time so perhaps no one gives a shit whether they know or not. I don’t think people should be cancelled but I don’t get putting them on a pedestal either

Re. your first para, because there was an argument anyway and Pitt probably lost his temper and yelled. It seems AJ might have embellished on that. I don't think she would have just made up an incident that had zero truth in it.

But this is a he-said, she-said, really. I find it very, very hard to like her after she keeps swiping people's men (Johnny Miler, her first husband, was also in a relationship when he and AJ got together.) So perhaps I'm biased.

I know we shouldn't blame the woman, and usually I don't. But AJ has extraordinary beauty, not to mention fame and millions...can all of us truly say that our husbands would resist a younger AJ if she batted her eyelashes and promised him a life with her?

To be clear, I still mostly blame the men who left their partners for her. But AJ should not have turned the high-beam of her exceptional beauty on those men either. She had a natural weapon there, and she used it against her fellow women....three times. (Johnny Lee Miller's partner, Laura Dern, and Jennifer Aniston.)

Pitt was incredibly stupid to dump JA for someone he didn't really know. I can't believe he did the dirty on her. He let his head be turned by a pretty face. More fool him.
