It's interesting how failing to teach history has led to a growing interest in the US of "socialism". As Mamdani shows.

It's why progressive democrats are starting to emerge

My standard response to that one is to ask if they think the People's Democratic Republic of Korea is q) democratic 2) run for the people. Funnily enough no one ever responds.

My hydrangea flowers are looking scorched. Should I deadhead or just leave it?

Had a lovely chat with my brother today. He's the eldest in the family and has recently received excellent care for a major operation in the Royal London Hospital. Plus he just moved a few weeks ago into the area from Northern Ireland.

I tend to dead head, but moths are very good at doing that, if you have the patience to ignore a bit of untidiness in the garden.

I agree too. I’ll therefore take the opportunity to share the fact that we’re off to Center Parcs tomorrow. We’re very much looking forward to it after a rough year. 😀

There are more species of day flying moths than butterflies in the UK.

It's probably been a lot hotter where you are than here. My flowers ended up spotty and brown, last year, as they got rained on constantly when in bud and this one really likes wet roots and a dry head.

You can tell I've been selectively watering because some of the weeds have gone brown 😂

Mine are scorched too. I’m off to visit the Netherlands tomorrow and DD who is coming down to dog sit has come down with a spotty rash. Her partner has it too so it’s obviously contagious. Possibly Hand, foot and mouth. She’s going to arrive after we’ve left to avoid contagion.

This is very true. I have a load of them in a bush that needs to be cut back.

I’ve never succeeded with hydrangeas. Year after year I buy a beautiful white plant and manage somehow to destroy it. They just don’t like me. The same with marguerites, I’ve given up with both now.

Bees, moths and butterflies have to be one of the words in the new title is my humble opinion.

Plus Burnham obviously.

I cant keep hydrangeas alive either. I haven't bought one this year.

The first one I had came with the house, it was established, quite large and beautiful, until dh decided it was roo big and cut it back. He then forgot it was there and I came home one day to find his building stuff stacked in that corner.

It was 27 years ago, and one of the few things I still hold against him- particularly as we've never managed to grow another.

I've also only ever managed to get lavender to grow in a Belfast sink, no idea why other pots and the ground haven't worked but I've rolled with it.

I've only got a three day week - DS is having his top surgery on Thursday (yes, he's trans, no hate please...) and then coming home with us for a few weeks. It'll be lovely to have him here. And his work (NHS) are letting him take it as sick leave because he has a diagnosis.

And I have been so productive with the house cleaning today because it isn't so bloody hot!
