Health matters for economic growth and wellbeing. Will also add that despite returning to work and huge nursery fees after the birth of my eldest child, I had great support throughout my pregnancy, birth and post partum all post ovarian cancer -- thankfully low malignancy which after fertility sparing surgery still required close follow ups. Had a great nursery in Soho, London which gave me peace of mind and the ability to continue to work. This was 1993/1994. How times have changed.

At best that is sloppy work from Kuenssberg.
At worst it turns an interview in to a party political broadcast.

It's interesting he seems happy to make a statement that will (hopefully) mean that he Reform should have paid tax on this "donation"

Rayner did. But worked as a care worker so, low life to the dizzy high life of "owning" two properties, one of which was the property of her son who has complex needs.

It's entirely fair to photograph the home of a person who has complex needs but whose mum is in Parliament.

I think (despite pretending to call for it for 2 years) the whole right wing have been blindsided by the speed of the change. (Something constitutional scholars will make pointed reference to when the Trump dynasty are established).

And the worst of it is they are faced with someone who they rather ignored (I mean "Manchester ? Who cares who lives there ?") and are now paying the price with a hatful of hollow. He's also well clear of Mandelson.

Yep. And all the vile smears about Starmer and Savile, Starmr and the Southport killer's father, rent boys, rumours about Starmer's sexuality and the rumours about his children and beergate etc. etc. will all now, thankfully, be redundant.

They're very angry, aren't they? I think its the sheer powerlessness they're feeling. Because not even a GE would get rid of Labour now, as neither of their parties are polling high enough for a majority. So it's Labour or a GE and a Labour led coalition stretching on....(no emoji that quite captures the smugness of the smug face I need here.)

It would be worth living forever to see how this is recorded for 2226.

Just to remind ourselves:

Nigel Farage the self-styled bad boy of British politics and the man who was set to replace Keir Stamer[1] Has gone from being elected an MP in 2024 at the head of 3 (turned out to be 4) fellow party MPs, now standing at exactly the same number plus some rejected Tories in 2026.

Meantime someone who wasn't even an MP or party leader has gone from private subject to MP to PM in (let's repeat it) two months

"Unprecedented" seems inadequate for that degree of shift. This isn't swapping one useless Tory for another. And therefore there is no playbook. We are seeing it being (badly) written.

That reminds me, I saw this earlier. Even a Reform/Con coalition wouldn't be enough. And Reform hasn't even finished imploding yet.

Our Mate Phil has been prophesying a hung parliament next election (regardless).

A progressive coalition - emasculating the right wing - could be a real thing. And if all those parties have electoral reform as a manifesto pledge ....

Yes. And I don't know why I didn't know this before, but was delighted to discover that in a hung parliament the encumbent PM gets first crack at forming a coalition government anyway. So the progressive coalition it would be. If they're fuming at Labour, try Labour plus Green plus the nationalists and see how they like them onions.

The "British System" is quite agnostic about parties. The key - indeed the only - criteria is that a PM can deliver a majority to the Monarch.. All else is ephemeral (and therefore malleable) convention.

I mean it would be nice for a single party to have a majority. But it's not requried.
