Goodness me, they are dropping like flies. Lindsey Graham was a fierce critic of Trump, then did a 360 and became one of his most loyal supporters.

As for McConnell, I am reading that friends and family have had to sign NDAs about him and whatever has happened. However a neighbour has asserted he was not alive when taken to hospital. This seems likely given his wife Elaine Chao chose not to come home from China to see him.

Dropping like flies- well they're bloody old, they ought to be. But we all know which big old blowfly we'd like to see drop, preferably from a great height just to be sure.

Unfortunately Lindsey Graham was actually 3 months younger than me. But I'm going to live to 105, like my old friend's dad did. I've got stuff to do. 😂

At the weekend too. Don't they play golf together at the weekend ?

CNN says “from a brief and sudden illness,”, Yeah, he miscalculated the score. sunk that 12-foot putt on the 18th and actually won against the cheat. Overwrought with guilt, he thew himself into the closest water hazard, helped on his way by a Trump golf cart driven by Trump.

The last words the poor fella heard were.... " Oh, Elon told me this cart would float. Thanks, Lindsey, for holing this cart above the water so I don't get my feet wet."

That's what I heard. No idea if it's true or not.

Yup. And the press ( that I get anyway), are finally figuring out that paragraph 5 of the MOU does say Iran is to run the strait, and they are starting to wonder who is pushing for an alternate route.

I'm totally visualising that!

logicisall · Yesterday 08:16

Sky news saying that Qatar and UAE also attacked. So imagine what Iran would have been able to do if Trump had not totally destroyed Iran's military ability. <sarcasm>.

Spandauer · Yesterday 08:17

I read the post about Lindsey Graham and thought it's fake "he's not 71 he's 84"... and then clicked it wasn't about McConnell!

Listening to the BBC World Service right now (my Sunday am lying in bed not getting up yet habit) and they're playing clips of Lindsey Graham sounding very angry and grumpy.
High blood pressure won't have helped I reckon. These angry men kill themselves with their own rage.

Stay cool and mellow and chilled, sisters and brothers! 🖖 Live long and prosper (eventually 😂).

Occam's Razor innit.

The bad news is that Trump will say the Iranians tampered with his golf cart and that he, Trump was the target.

And out in the lake there is a rather confused turtle watching, wondering why it was reincarnated as a turtle, when it never believed in that in its previous life.

Oh, that last bit ties in with Elaine Chow. Because under Chinese law, Government permission is needed to re-incarnate.

I did similar, thought they used the wrong photo.

So did he open too many windows when he got home?

Less than 48 hours ago...
In Kyiv, Sen. Lindsey Graham announced White House support for tougher Russia sanctions, arguing that enhanced Ukrainian firepower and pressure on China could force Moscow to negotiate

You were not alone. News reporters are all saying the same.
They are mummifying McConnel and will announce his passing quietly and under the radar when BIG news breaks.

CaveMum · Yesterday 09:11

Presumably Graham’s passing triggers a special election? Is his seat in the same position as McConnell’s, ie if the seat is vacant more than 90 days before the midterms then it needs as special? Not sure if Graham was up for reelection in November?

Good point. So in that case there is no way McConnell is dead. They have the technology, they can rebuild him, better, stronger, faster.

This implies his seat was /is up for election but US system baffles me. I think he won the seat comfortably, but his recent approval ratings were poor. I think Kentucky is deeply Red

From June in NYT:
Senator Lindsey Graham won the Republican primary in South Carolina, according to The Associated Press, after staving off a challenge on Tuesday in a crowded election that had threatened to force him into a runoff.
Mr. Graham, a four-term incumbent, defeated five other candidates, including Mark Lynch, a Greenville businessman who put millions of dollars of his own money into the campaign. South Carolina is a solidly Republican stronghold, and Mr. Graham will be favored to win re-election in November against the Democratic nominee, Dr. Annie Andrews, a pediatrician.

Now:
According to South Carolina law, Gov. Henry McMaster will appoint someone to fill Graham’s seat until Jan. 3 of next year.

Kentucky baffles me, as does McConnell and how he kept being re-elected for 40 years.

It's one of the poorest states in the US, with life expectancy, opioid dependency, child poverty, unemployment

Spandauer · Yesterday 09:41

But I think that also means that there will be a fast tracked election to repeat the Republican primary and chose a new candidate for November mid terms

My vote is for a 3-D McConnell, available at the press of a button like in Star Wars, to join Teams meetings.

Worth it to own the libs, though

CaveMum · Yesterday 10:02

Kentucky is a very strange place. I’ve been once, it being horse country and all. I had a deeply uncomfortable experience when taken for a dinner at The Lexington Country Club which I can only describe as an old plantation home where the customers were 100% white and the serving staff 100% black.

I also went out for lunch on a Sunday with a British ex-pat who called the waiter over at exactly 12:01 to order a drink, because alcohol sales were not permitted before midday on a Sunday. He was not a fan of the law!

Lots of conversations with people who felt compelled to tell me they were “blessed by the Lord” as well.

I also remember driving past what I can only describe as wooden shacks, like something from 100 years ago, that were obviously people’s homes.

Lots of very lovely people, an incredibly friendly state (to me) but I couldn’t help having an underlying feeling of discomfort.

countrygirl99 · Yesterday 10:42

We spotted shacks driving out of Las Vegas though that was years ago. Ditto in the finger lakes area.

They need to find an Iranian. I say give it 24 hours.
