It's time we got rid of the likes of Trump and Farage who build their wealth whilst taking advantage of their positions of power. They should be serving the public not increasing their bank balance.

People of Clacton you have a chance to stand up and say no to corruption. Kick Farage out.

Fox is standing as well? Interesting.

That will presumably split the far right vote. Does that mean that Binface is in with a real chance?

I would love to see him elected in favour of Farage and Fox.

Yes I believe there is a real chance Binface could be elected looking at the numbers and keeping in mind it's a by-election.

That would embarrass everyone.

Whydoweedsgrowsofast · 08/07/2026 07:41

Personally I am hoping that he isn't allowed to resign until after both standards committee reports. Why should the tax payers foot the bill for 2 possibly 3 by-elections in under a year.

RedToothBrush · 08/07/2026 07:42

I see Binface as a Martin Bell tbh.

MrsBennetsPoorNervesAreBack · 08/07/2026 07:43

BrickBiscuit · 08/07/2026 07:40

But if Farage loses there is no second by-election, is there?

No. But I guess the calculation is that the people of Clacton can't end up with a worse option than the one they chose at the last general election.

Plus realistically, none of the mainstream parties are polling strongly enough in Clacton to beat Farage right now. So what's the point of them wasting their resources. An independent candidate is the best chance of getting him out, and the main parties standing back so as not to split the anti-Farage vote is probably the best thing that they can do in the situation that Farage has created.

noblegiraffe · 08/07/2026 07:43

There's a constituency in England which currently has as its MP a man who is on police bail for rape, sexual assault and child abduction. He is banned from the parliamentary estate.

So if Binface won, he already wouldn't be the worst MP.

SomeoneIsWrongOnTheInternet · 08/07/2026 07:45

Yet Clacton elected Farage in the first place and he seemed fairly confident, saying he’d re-stand in the by election.

Im not from that area or anywhere near, what sort of place is it? Got 2 mansions in the constituency that are both given by his mates?

RedRiverShore6 · 08/07/2026 07:47

Is Count Binface more right or left leaning?

Depends which side of the bin lorry he is put on !

Thingamebobwotsit · 08/07/2026 07:49

Honestly I despair. FT reporting this morning there is support for Farage in Clacton so this is a risky tactic that could backfire in either direction.

From a "protecting public standards" perspective I appreciate the other parties taking the higher ground, but I fear it will just give "bargain basement Trump" more legitimacy.

I really miss the laugh reaction. 🤣

ohreallyIsee · 08/07/2026 07:56

I'd like to see Farage re-elected so the investigation can continue but with a large number of spoiled votes

What about the Monster Raving Loonie Party ?

I'm sure they will field a candidate.

I've not seen the latest manifesto but here's an old one to give you a flavour of what is to come...

I read somewhere that some monster raving loony party policies did actually get put in place!

RedRiverShore6 · 08/07/2026 07:47

Is Count Binface more right or left leaning?

He's fairly centrist. Hates Farage. Thinks Starmer is a dipstick. Like most of us tbh.

I genuinely don't know how you do worse than Farage as a constituency MP.

RedToothBrush · 08/07/2026 08:00

Apart from getting arrested etc.

If I still lived there I’d be campaigning for Binface. Farage forcing this sham election to “raise two fingers to the Establishment” is raising his two fingers to parliamentary standards and democracy itself.

GoodHonest · 08/07/2026 08:09

Anyone Mumsnetters in Clacton fancy a go....?

I also agree with this, indeed.
But I do not know enough about Binface actual political stance and abilities to lead.

Surely literally anyone has to be better than Farage.

Needhelp101 · 08/07/2026 08:18

I can't link to it, sorry, but the man behind Binface wrote a wonderful, moving piece about the death of his brother. He's an intelligent, thoughtful man.
He'd be an excellent MP!

OneAmberFinch · 08/07/2026 08:23

Whatever you think of Farage, and whatever you think of the establishment, he clearly stands against it and has done for years. How can you tell? Because the establishment is doing its best to destroy him and his movement...

The forces that are resulting in him leading in the polls are not going away. I'd personally prefer a democratic restoration to a violent one. "Stopping Farage" is not going to magically make everything okay again.

Thundertoast · 08/07/2026 08:25

If Binface won, would they still carry on with the investigation into Farage?
I would LOVE Binface to win, equally am I excited to see Farage try and pull a 'the establishment are so scared of me and know they cant win, they dont even run against me' bolshy winners speech when he knows full well he looks a fool.
