A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government 💙

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Times radio is good for women presenters too, there’s some vg ones and the balance is there. Why they’d want Adam Boulton with those sexist views idk

I might have to write an email. His description has really annoyed me.

NUFC69 · 11/07/2026 08:27

Just popping in (I usually read). I listened to Kemi yesterday: it was obvious she was upset, and I thought she spoke well and compassionately.

Incidentally the Police have just released the murder suspect....

I'm off on my holidays, too. Bon voyage to all.

I really like Times Radio too. Both they and Sky need to consider whether Boulton is a suitable presenter for their brand. I've sent an email to Times as I was raging lastnight.
As I posted yesterday, this is not his first offence. From what I can see, he hasn't shown any remorse or retracted online. He seems to have doubled down and pointed to other similar comments.
Sky were called out live on-air, the presenter said "Adam's views do not reflect this channel", so why do they keep giving him airtime?

Welcome 👋

Bon voyage to you too.

I've watched and read Kemi's comments and agree with your take. She looked genuinely upset, and offered her condolences to Reform too.

Thank you.

The fecking bastards. Dark green money is fucking terrifying for Europe and America.

Pacificwave · 11/07/2026 10:06

The British left has spent years warning about malign billionaires, ‘industrial complexes’ and dodgy lobbying networks. Yet on net zero it has built such a machine itself: an internationally funded ecosystem that bankrolls thinktanks, campaign groups, media organisations and litigation in pursuit of a single political objective.
The consequences of that work are all around us – high energy prices, industries crippled by those costs, manufacturing in retreat, cities like Aberdeen hollowed out, rising fuel poverty and higher bills for the poor, and an ever-expanding state regulating every-thing from gas boilers to air conditioning.
Net zero has given the left a new means of controlling and constraining capitalism and growth. It has given international billionaires a cause to signal their virtue while they asset-strip and price-gouge elsewhere. When their rapacity is called into question, they can point to their climate credentials, claim benefit of clergy and know the poorest will pay the price. And now the darling of the Dark Green lobby, Ed Miliband, is on the verge of becoming the man controlling the economy. It is hard not to be impressed. And deeply depressed.

Wow. spot. on.
I wonder when people will break.
I think the left coding air conditioning as right wing and bad might break the whole thing, if we have another summer like this in London.

IMO it’s been increasingly clear for quite a long time that there’s a vast funding network for green politics and the promotion of anti-producer policies.

I don’t think much if any of it is sinister in the sense of an illegal or deliberately concealed movement of money, but even so it is a ‘complex’ every bit as powerful as big oil and other extractables or big agriculture and agri-science. And it’s more extensively targeted at political outcomes rather than just producers’ business interests.

Still, it will lose in the end because governments are crashing into the reality that better quality of life and environment will come through technology, which needs more affordable and reliable energy. AI for example.

There's part of this system that's stating water isn't a right even ithough we pay for it. They want us to buy it in plastic bottles to drink. It'll be turned off at times from the tap. It'll be like the power cuts of the seventies and the stand pipes in the streets in 1976 but all the year round. Somewhere in the USA you can't even collect it off the roof of buildings and keep it in storage tanks. Because legally what falls out of the sky isn't yours.

If they control the water, they control you.

I'm checking out for a while and having a break from politics.

I've asked @NoWordForFluffy to start the next thread while I'm away. Thanks again Fluffy. 😊

Enjoy your break @Nuthatch26

I’m away in 2 weeks and looking forward to a break from politics too. Currently popping in and out of the garden doing some deadheading and general faffing. Picked a little posy for the kitchen table.

I do love hot weather but we are holidaying in the UK this year so knowing my luck you can all expect a break in the weather for the last week of July!

Can’t bring myself to watch Reeves on LK this morning. I did laugh ironically at the BBC article on the interview where Reeves said Burnham needs to come in with a plan.

No shit Sherlock!

Do you think we might not be in the mess we are now, and you wouldn’t be picking up your P45, if you had thought beyond getting yourself elected in the first place?!

<disclaimer for the lurkers, yes I’m aware a Minister doesn’t get a P45 when losing a Cabinet position, it’s a turn of phrase>

NoWordForFluffy · Yesterday 10:14

Exactly this. If they'd actually had a proper plan and not failed to prepare, they would've had a better / more honest manifesto and wouldn't have hamstrung themselves financially.

Sadly for them, they wrote a manifesto they thought would get them elected, not the one which was needed, economically.

This whole sorry mess could've been avoided, and now Burnham has to do some creative thinking in ways to raise taxes which don't contradict the manifesto!

I was just listening to this podcast while doing Sunday morning errands. Who is Dale Vince? He seemed like a massive twat. It seems like he must be an important person, but I had never come across him before. I did a bit of googling, seems he do ates to the Labour Party. That would explain some of the tin-eared policy.

He’s something to do with wind farms etc iirc. Gives large donations to Labour who then return favours with policy.

I think he may have thrown his weight behind Count Binface this week too.
