A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government 💙

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

The swiftie wedding is going to be made into a documentary. Can't stop laughing.

Why can't you stop laughing?

She's an international icon, of course people will be interested in it.

justasking111 · 05/07/2026 22:12

Heard tonight that offices are being used in London for interviews . Mps asked to submit their CVS for jobs in Burnham's new government. Well that's unusual.

WhatFreshHelll · 05/07/2026 22:31

DenizenOfAisleOfShame · 04/07/2026 12:08

There’s definitely the strong whiff of ill-thought through gimmickry and word clouds about Burnham’s proposals. It’s all very vague about where the money is going to come from for anything tangible and the rest is just ideas from adolescent advisers that have to include the words ‘North’ and Northern’ at every opportunity.

We are told there are gargantuan black holes of infijity with no money and yet there is money for such vanity projects ? It's a disgrace. Move it when there is money.

"north " and * northern " at every turn
They are trying to win back the northern vote.

What a game! Proper nail-biting stuff, but they played so well. They fully deserved to win.

Glad I stayed up, but fighting my eyelids now. 😂

I went to bed, but I might as well gave watched it. My husband woke me up at 1am, 1:29am, 2am and 4am. 🫠

I am delighted that England won.

WhatFreshHelll · 06/07/2026 11:21

I feel deeply ashamed I didn't think there was any chance we would win!
I felt bad for Mexico but they can go out with their heads held high also

It's the first ever proper great game I've seen England play and I remember the hand of god 40 years ago!

Starmer is heading to NATO. Front cover of the Times today is suggesting this will be a humiliation for him (and us). What a swansong. Can't wait for him to disappear.

I'm kind of enjoying the Labour govt being totally impotent for a few weeks. Not great that there is no governing going on rn, but also nice to have a break from their batshittery iykwim.

Keir Starmer faces Nato rebuke from Trump after defence funding row

The prime minister will find himself sidelined as officials and foreign dignitaries begin planning for the anticipated coronation of Andy Burnham

Let’s face it - Starmer wants the NATO top job, so doubtless he will be putting himself before country whilst he’s there. One can only hope Trump torpedoes that.

Starmer should return to practising human rights law, or, better still, simply do one.

How could he even be considered a viable candidate to head up NATO? He is proven to be totally inadequate in the defence arena, and is about to make us a laughing stock at NATO.

I was out all day yesterday, so missed all the stuff about Farage. I ignore him generally, but I think he may be in trouble here.

I think Reform’s had it. Slow motion collapse.

Whatever you think of them, Farage is the party. And I’m increasingly sure he’ll walk away. The scrutiny is unearthing a lot of doubtful stuff. He just can’t resist ever more money.

Matthew Parris wrote about this recently. I agree with him: no Farage, no Reform.

I bet Jenrick’s weeping! Good.

Unless things change I can see a messy outcome at the next GE. A government of left groupings probably. Which will go up in flames very quickly.

Trump is just gross. Corrupt, self serving, incompetent. You wonder how he managed to get elected. Then he comes out with stuff like this, and it is right on the nose.

“England was the greatest empire the world had ever seen”, adding: “A few generations later, they are a de-industrialised welfare zone unable to stop third-world men from invading on rubber boats. Decline happens fast. Weak leaders and suicidal empathy.”

I can see that Americans felt like someone was being straight with them. He’s anything but straight, but people have been gaslighted so much that it is refreshing.

Middlerage · 06/07/2026 12:46

Farage might be in trouble this time but a lot of ordinary people look at the political sleaze of the last lot getting free tickets from betting firms, free clothes from millionaires, the SNP ripping off their own members and can’t see much of a difference.

i do think there is a huge problem with trust in any politicians. They only ever seem to make our lives worse. Looking at the stories of a land tax - again, is this the time to double council tax for some people? They play with too many of these levers and they’ll cause a collapse - London and SE already losing value.

Yeah, its not looking good.
I'm reluctant to write Farage off though. If anyone can survive this, its him. Agree that if they lose Farage, its over for them. I don't think Restore will be able to gather the same following as Reform has.
Just heard that the Conservatives are already campaigning in Clacton, so they smell blood in the water.

Agree on Jenrick. Karma.
Just saw a clip of him on Trevor Phillips yesterday. He looked furious.

The important part of Trump’s diagnosis is the phrase “welfare zone”.
