Take That concert on Thursday - Will it go ahead?

I've been really looking forward to this but it's giving me such anxiety now. I spent a lot of money so don't want to just not go and forfeit the money. Would they cancel it? It can't be safe to have thousands of people there in such intense heat?

I just got the below from Ticket Master - I'm assuming everyone who booked with them will get this too but I thought worth sharing just in case!

"Due to the amber and red weather warnings, we are closely monitoring the forecast for our shows on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and have measures in place to support the safety and wellbeing of all attendees.

There are multiple free drinking water points available inside and outside the stadium. No glass or cans are permitted, but reusable water containers will be allowed. Attendees should come prepared for warm conditions, including wearing suitable clothing, sun protection, and bringing water.

Fans are advised not to camp outside the stadium or within Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, as this is against local bylaws and can be unsafe in high temperatures. If arriving early on the day, there is plenty of shade available within the Park under trees and planting.

We will continue to monitor weather conditions closely.

Take care and have a lovely time at the Circus!"

People on the London stadium Facebook page are saying it should be cancelled.
I really hope not 😩

fernnn · 24/06/2026 12:56

Selfishly, a teeeeeeny bit of me is hoping it won't be cancelled or postponed as I sold for less than I bought and I would have loved to go in better weather. But I hope whatever is safest for everyone happens and if it goes ahead I'm sure it'll be great

It's Take That themselves and the incredible performers I'd be worried about more than the audience! It's such a physical show with amazing costumes, not to mention fire. They're going to be horrendously hot.
And Danny from The Script will have to lose his trademark long coat.

scalt · 24/06/2026 13:05

Has Wimbledon ever been cancelled for heat hysteria extreme temperatures before? Genuine question. We can't have expensive tennis stars and royal spectators dying of heat stroke, can we?

As others have said, these events cost millions (probably tens of) to organise, and millions more to postpone.

There's probably more chance of being injured or killed on the roads than dying of this fabled "heat danger" that Mumsnetters keep going on about, so let's ban cars, if it saves one life. It feels even more hysterical this year that it was in 2022.

Ticketmaster have just sent out an email stating what the Stadium is doing about free water & they have given advice on the day/evening. I'm hoping to go but really not sure now .

Presumably an autocorrect but I love the idea that you refer to anyone in your life as your “failures”
😂🤣

Ha ha yes daughters!! They are absolutely not failures 😂.

I’ve seen the advice, will not drink as much wine as planned, plenty of water, cool clothes etc.
we’ve had 35 before and I don’t remember all this panic tbh. I’ll be enjoying Saturday night I can’t wait

WorthySloth · 24/06/2026 13:50

I’ve got Metallica in Cardiff on Sunday night hoping it will cool down a bit by then

Empress13 · 24/06/2026 13:53

Apparently Harry Styles was seen running to his concert the other day according to Heart FM hope he isn’t doing it in this heat ! (He runs marathons is very fit apparently)

FanSpamTastic · 24/06/2026 14:01

If it helps on getting to Stratford then I think the Elizabeth line has air con though not sure how it is holding up. I’d choose that over the central line if I had the choice! I used to commute on that line and it is hotter than hell on a normal summer!

HoppingPavlova · 24/06/2026 14:41

Why on earth would they cancel it. The last several concerts I have been to, have been in 32-35 deg weather. The last one I made the mistake of wearing jeans and by the end, when leaving it looked and felt like I had wet myself doing a wee the size of what I imagine a bull elephant puts out🤣. I can’t think of major artists who are not used to playing in warm weather, and where I am, many choose to come in summer, full well knowing what the summer temp will be (usually 32-36 on average here as standard, and no our arena’s/parks have zero shade and are not ‘built for heat’ 🤣🤦‍♀️🤣).

A few major international bands I have seen over the decades only ever seem to come in our summer. I’m pretty sure I saw Robbie Williams around 25 years ago in summer, all open air, blazing sun for the many people who get there several hours early to be closest to the stage. They just make sure there are plenty of water stations and people soak hats etc to keep head cool. There are always the fools who decide alcohol is a good idea (why????) and they tend to drop at a point, but no one forces people to drink anything, and water freely and plentifully available.

ETA as I just recalled the last time I saw Foo Fighters here it was HOT (and not the warm you are talking about but HOT). I just Googled and it told me it was 42deg that day when they played (and no it’s not really much cooler of an evening). They were fine. Everyone was fine. And I wasn’t stupid enough to wear jeans to that one so I was fine as didn’t look/feel like I had massively wee’d myself by the end🤣.

No. It's a gig. You can come and go as you please.

Ah ok

He had the coat on at Sunday's show in Manchester and it was about 25 degrees. Very sweaty down at the front but was fabulous. I think I'm still dehydrated!

Take that concert should be re scheduled. Do they not care about the welfare of their audience and crew members

Presumably they've played in countries hotter than this in temperatures hotter than this?

Have they never played in the southern States, or Australia, or anywhere in the ME, or India?

Whatnamecaniusethen · 24/06/2026 20:33

Fingers crossed nobody dies

OnTheBoardwalk · 24/06/2026 22:54

I’d be more worried about people getting there and back in the heat

pic taken from a goady thread but does make a point. all but essential travel being advised against

Well people do die at various times. Statistically its likely someone will die. Someone is dying right now as I type this.

I think this needed to be said louder in 2020, when Saint Boris and his merry men were screaming “people will die!”

Whatnamecaniusethen · Yesterday 08:32

Speechless !

Gizgad67 · Yesterday 10:22

I think it’s madness going ahead with the concert it’s putting people at risk, I’m going but heading up there late.

Gizgad67 · Yesterday 10:23

You can’t leave the stadium once you’re inside

Sallycinnamum · Yesterday 10:41

I'm surprised it hasn't been cancelled too. Given all train companies have said only travel if necessary and there is absolutely no shade at the stadium, it seems madness its still going ahead.

Why are you going then if you think it's putting people at risk?

I'm going on Saturday, can't wait, concerts go ahead in all weathers.
